The days only seemed to be getting brighter and brighter, and that was what made them his favorite days of the year. He despised downpours, despised even the littlest hint of cold weather. He liked to have the sun beating down on his golden coat, liked to curl up under a tree and sleep through the day. It seemed that when the brighter days came, it was the time Ezeoha chose to relax, as much as any pimp of a lion could. Relaxing was, in fact, what he was doing at this moment.

Ezeoha could be seen curled on a rock, specifically choosing it because it had spent all day soaking in the heat of the sun. Now it was warm enough that Ezeoha had heat pounding down upon him from the sun, and heat rising up into him from the rock. It was a wonderful mixture of heat, and Ezeoha found himself purring as he had when he was a young cub, curled up into his mother's side. He looked positively disarming, lying out in the open for all to see, his eyes drooping dangerously low as he felt the heat begin to lull him into sleep.

The morning had been a tiring one, with Ezeoha having to entertain Nunda, his son, while Chinara went out to catch some food. On most occassions it was Ezeoha who did the hunting, but nothing could've got him moving for the world. So, Ezeoha had stayed behind with Nunda, lazily entertaining the cub until Chinara returned to take care of their son. With Nunda entertained, Ezeoha had slipped away to find someplace to nap. That someplace was where he was lying right now, and sleep was very close to taking hold over him.

User ImageIt was a beautiful day. The golden rays of the sun touched the bronze of the grass, casting its summery glow all over the savannah and heating the air with a sort of thickness that only the sun at its peak performance could bring. Kia inhaled the thickness of the air, her worn paws beating dust into the air as a warm wind carressed the fur on her face as she ran.

Most of the time Kia would be able to go on forever like this, running with the electricity of the earth against her paws fueling her for one stride after the next, but for some particular reason today her pace was slowed, struck by a fatigue that normally only came on days like today. For though the sun was a blessing for the sheen of the vast area of the pridelands it took a large toll on Kia's ability to continue at a pace she liked.

Panting slightly, the lioness's rhythmic beating of paws against soil slowed and then halted nearby as she stooped slightly to catch her breath, staring down at her feet, only occasionally lifting her gaze to search out some sort of water to replenish the energy that the sun had taken from her, but not seeing anything but the grass that surrounded her for a long while.

The heat that had engulfed the land was almost suffocating, and with Ezeoha's golden pelt and the waves of heat rising off the ground and down towards it, he seemed like a part of the earth, stalks of grass blurried by the heat. His red eyes could barely make out anything, and faintly he was beginning to feel the first bits of discomfort caused by the increasingly more intense waves of heat.

With a groan he sat up on 'his' rock, shaking out his mane, creating a little wind to cool him down. But once his mane had been shook out, the heat was back. Ezeoha would've preferred to just lie down on the rock and leave himself out in the heat. But, at the first signs of discomfort he knew things would only become worse, and it would be pointless to prolong his departure from the rock. He needed shade, and so once again set off in search of that shade so he could finally settle down and get some sleep.

His eyes were being played tricks on by the heat, and Kia seemed nothing more than a small boulder in the distance. Moving was tiring, and Ezeoha was beginning to consider plopping himself down on the rock (who was actually Kia) and put up with the heat. Even his legs were beginning to carry him towards the 'rock', but to his general confusion he discovered that his rock was not really a rock.

It was a lioness.

And his first thoughts were: Oh, gods and godesses, she's beautiful! I wonder if I /can/ lay on her...

But, those words certainly did not come out of his mouth. He stopped, blinking as if trying to wipe away the illusion that was in front of his eyes to try and get his rock back. The illusion did not disappear, and he discovered that the lioness was real, and that it could be considered his lucky day. She was breathing and her green eyes glittered with life. There was no other choice but to greet her. "Hello," and a lazy smile was pulled onto his face.

User Image Kia's ears flickered slightly as the vibrations of another's voice reached her ears. Her head immediately turned to face the direction from which the sound came and a bright smile turned across her lips as her brows raised inquisitively, seemingly caught between an emotion of glee for the sudden company and one of confusion as to how he appeared.

Considering that this fellow seemed friendly and didn't resemble a hyena in the slightest, Kia immediately determined, as she always did, that he was probably the sort that was good company.

"Hello" she chirped, and after offering a slight, polite nod she quickly added... "How in the world did you appear so quickly?" since she was not only governed by the former emotion of gladness, but the also second one of confusion. She chewed slightly on her bottom lip as she anticipated his response, figuring in her mind that he must be either extremely fast or magic in some way and not that she simply had not seen him approaching.

Ezeoha did not know whether to be insulted or complimented by her first initial words. Certainly he should be insulted that she did not notice him, but most certainly he should be complimented by the fact that he had been quiet enough that she did not note his arrival until he had spoken up. Ezeoha really did want to like Kia (and not just because his hormones were on overdrive, but because she seemed like a generally cheerful female). So, with his want to like her, he took her confusion at his sudden appearance as a compliment, and gave her a warm smile.

"I do not quite know how I appeared so quickly. I wasn't go any faster than I normally do, especially considering this heat." He shrugged his delicate, almost feminine shoulders. Ezeoha was most certainly not one of the largest lions anyone would've ever seen. In fact, he was rather small and petite, a pretty boy. He appeared as if he took great care of himself, for his coat glistened and looked positively healthy, while his brown mane fluffed out in gentle waves, framing his handsome face. He was undeniably attractive, though Kia did not seem to be the kind of lioness to pick up on it.

"I am Ezeoha, and I think I just caught you by surprise. It is hot out today, and I cannot blame you for being a little unaware about your surroundings." He would've had to have given his name to her at some point, to prompt her into giving her name in return. Once it was received, he'd take the next step, which was a little bit of flirting.

User Image She nodded slowly, although this time with a wiser air as her expression changed light. Her smile faded only slightly as she listened, her confusion quenched with the knowledge that her mind was simply not as focused as it could have been. Her smile, however, returned to its normal luminance when he suggested that it was the fault of the heat and nothing rested on her own unaware shoulders. To this idea she nodded again, smugly and in agreeance.

Though evidently she was not the brightest lion in Africa, Kia had at least one trait to her merit. Oddly enough this very personality quirk fell against her in many a situation. This detail could be observed simply by looking at the trusting smile she wore always across her lips and her way of accepting anything anybody said as fact the moment it left their mouths. It was her belief that lies were make-believe and evil non-exsistant. Looking through Kia's eyes was like looking through the eyes of a child where nothing really went wrong and everything was always good.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Ezeoha" she said curtly, emphasizing his name in her mind to ensure her remembrance of it, which she thought to be a rather clever trick of hers "My name's Kia"

Ezeoha could not help but smile when she gave her own name in exchange for his. It was short, sweet, and he liked the way it sounded in his mind, how it rolled off of her tongue. If one could ever become infatuated with a name, Ezeoha was that person. "It is a beautiful name. Kia." The way he said her name was purely seductive. He rolled it off of his own tongue in a sultry purr. This little beginning to seduction was not unintentional, and through his smooth red eyes he was observing her closely, waiting to see her reaction to how he said her name, how he had so obviously hinted towards seduction.

But, he was vaugely worried about Kia's innocence. She was certainly a mature lioness, but he had the feeling that she had never been truly introduced to a male's hidden lusts. Kia appeared to be perfectly naive and innocent, and it was easy for Ezeoha to pick up on it. There was a shred of dignity within him, and he wouldn't dare do anything with Kia unless she knew full well the consequences of such actions. He didn't appreciate taking advantage of lionesses. Ezeoha was a good natured lion, but just liked the idea of reproducing too much. He had things with certain females he just wouldn't do because it didn't make him feel comfortable.

"Well, Kia, seeing as the heat is so disagreeable with us, would you care to follow me to some shade, or better yet, some water?" The Pridelands were his home, and he knew them well enough to know the closest area where they could rest underneath the shade of a tree, or get a quick drink of water to cool themselves down with. Lions, in the heat of the day, usually preferred to lay down and do nothing. Ezeoha was really no exception, excluding when a pretty female came into sight.

User Image Kia's ears swiveled and eyebrows rose as he repeated her name. His voice smoothed over in a manner that made even Kia's stomach turn over in a way that she couldn't identify as either wonderful or horrible and in a way that provoked her to look bashfully down at her toes, feeling a rush of heat rise to her cheeks that she was desperately glad would be concealed by a thin layer of clay-toned fur.

When the odd feeling had passed her green eyes rose towards him once more. She noticed his gaze intently rested on her, but didn't feel anything near different from normal besides a slight tingling of nerves. Both this and the odd queasiness she experienced moments prior she attributed to running in the sunlight, not worrying about either experiences after determining what she thought to be the root of the problem. Therefore, when Ezeoha suggested them moving to find some water her sparkling smile returned to her features as she experienced an instant feeling of relief.

"Yes, water, please" she said with a slight, tinkling laugh as she pushed completely away the memory of that brief moment of nausiousness and replaced it with the clenching feeling of thirst that had been suppressed ever since she had stopped running.

He could only smile as Kia looked down to her toes, a clear sign that his voice had indeed affected her. So, he thought with that smile growing ever so larger, she is not completely innocent, and I have a little bit room to manuever. Of course, I can't push it too quickly... His mind was already conjuring up the proper approach to Kia. He knew that he had to gently introduce the idea to her in little bits. He could not just attack her all at once with her need. She'd get frightened and would back away. No, Ezeoha would have to be smooth, give her little tastes of what she could get from him.

"Ah, well, then follow me." He padded towards her, continuing to walk on his way, though his tail seemed to be a very devious part of him. As he walked past, it flicked to the side, running 'innocently' down the side of her body. It could be taken for an entirely innocent gesture, an accident of sorts, but that wasn't what Ezeoha intended. He intended to continue to introduce her to the idea of being with a male, even if for only a short while. He wanted to let her know that he was the cause of those strange feelings taking over her body, and he wanted her to know that it simply felt good to be paid attention to in such a way.

He did not glance back to her, but continued on his way as if nothing had happened, as if he had not just done something entirely devious. "It is not that far away, so you will not have to suffer in the sunlight for too much longer."

User Image Kia watched innocently as the smile across his face lengthened, she allowed hers to widen as well. At least he wasn't the grouchy sort of lion, that was all she really wanted to know about him even since the first moment she noticed him standing there. Nothing else about his character could possibly matter. After all, there was nothing else was there? The good and the bad was all she saw, there simply was no gray area.

Silently nodding a cheerful consent, Kia stood and waited for the lion to pass so she could follow. Most would have simply walked on by, but this particular male touched her side, only just light enough for her to feel it, with his tail as he strode past. Kia's expression twisted slightly as she felt the light touch of the tuft of his tail trace her side. She froze for a moment, looking ahead of her at the figure of the lion she was to follow almost in a confused manner. If he wasn't so casual about his movements Kia might have been able to pick up on the fact that he was up to something, but inexperienced and naive, Kia noticed nothing.

She stood stalk-still for a moment, looking puzzled as he walked away, but shortly after she finally began to follow him, doubling her pace to shorten the ground that was lost between them and smiling like a child when he told her the water was nearby. It was an odd sort of dream she was in today, but soon, as she was assured by her new friend by the mention of water, she would wake up from it.

He felt her presence behind him, and silently let his body relax with relief. There was always the tiny possibility that she would figure out what he was up to and either confront him, or run away from the situation. The confrontation wasn't so bad, because he could always change her opinion of him and get her to like him more. Running from him, though, was a very bad course to take. If she ran, Ezeoha could do nothing to apologize, and nothing to assure her that he would do nothing if she did not want it. So, Ezeoha was quite pleased with her reaction. She was a little stunned, but recovered quickly enough so that he knew he could still introduce the subject of his male presence to her without negative reactions.

His pace was slow, casual, as he continued on ahead. Their walk continued on in silence, because Ezeoha did not feel the need to speak, and letting quiet fill the air would mean that Kia would be more attentive to her surroundings. He was hoping that she would let her eyes focus on him, so that she could see that his slow pace was made with a definite sort of grace. His pelt seemed impossibly bright underneath the sunlight, and his muscles flexed underneath that pelt, showing off that he indeed did have some strength. All of this he had long ago learned to do, long ago had perfected.

"Ah, here we are." He looked back over his shoulder, red eyes gleaming with happiness as the gentle sound of water lapping against the dark earth could be heard not a few yards away. Then he was picking up his pace, strolling on over to the water's side, peering down at it with acute interest. But, he didn't drink, not jut yet. He waited patiently for Kia to come to his side so that she could drink. He was being unnecessarily proper, but being proper sometimes gave him a little advantage when it came to the ladies.

User Image Kia walked at Ezeoha's side, giving him a slight lead but not much, her eyes tracing the earth ahead to look for any signs of the water he was leading her to. Occasionally she would glance over to her companion, but didn't truly appreciate his gleaming pelt or his defined muscles. She probably wouldn't have even cared in the slightest if the sheen of his coat was replaced with a dull appearance and was matted with dirt. She did, however, appreciate the favor that he was paying her.

She had heard the gentle song of the water long before Ezeoha had notified her of their arrival to it, but nontheless tried to look more enthusiastic than before when he himself said it. She figured it would be polite at least.

She also walked over to the edge of the water and halted just as the tips of her paws touched the crystal water and sunk slightly into the mud. She assumed that he was waiting for her since he didn't begin to drink yet so using the water as a sort of way of communicating with her company, she looked at his reflection in the water and smiled warmly at him as her way of thanks for the directions to the water before she leaned to the surface of the water and lapped at its surface cheerfully.

Now at least, she thought to herself, that odd dream would be over. Although, she couldn't help but think for a fleeting, desperate moment, that it was a pleasant dream and that maybe she would miss it. Or maybe she was still sick.

She drank a little faster.

Ezeoha watched her briefly, before dipping his head to gently lap up the water. It was cool to the touch, and rushed down through his body, cooling him and driving away the intense heat of the day. Just as greedily as Kia, he took in the water, sighing softly with glee to finally have something to satisfy his most current need. There was another need, but he was not sure he would get it from Kia. She seemed perfectly oblivious to his advances, and though that could be a good thing, it could also be bad. If she did not know that he wanted her, then she would never let him near her.

Oh, this was beginning to prove more complicated by the second.

Once drinking his fill, he stepped back away from the water's edge, showing a little bit of his finicky nature as he wiped his muddy paws against the grass not far from the water's edge. He shuddered at the feel of the gooey substance between his toes, and more vigorously wiped it away. If there was one thing he did not appreciate, it was getting dirty. Ezeoha was a lion who prided himself on his cleanliness, and not just because it impressed most females, but because it was just who he was. Ezeoha was, down deep inside, a very girly male.

"I love this place," he said softly, letting himself lie down on the ground to relax, well away from any of the mud. "The water is perfectly crisp, and tastes wonderful. The grass is even tall enough to provide some shade." Ezeoha was truly a lion, by nature, who just liked to lie around all day. Hopefully Kia wouldn't mind his nature, because he wasn't just about to get up and run with her because she had a whim, unless he knew for certain that it would place him closer to his goal of being with her.
PostPosted: Sat Dec 09, 2006 2:31 pm

User Image Kia smiled giddily, enjoying the refreshing taste of the water and the way it amply satisfied her thirst in comparison to Ezeoha, and enjoying the squish of the mud against her toes in contrast. She noticed him wiping mud off his paws onto the grass and couldn't help but giggling as he instantly reminded her of a very prissy female. She quickly muted her laughter and tried to look sympathetic, but she couldn't help it if a few chortles escaped every now and again.

"Indeed," she said after most of her chuckling had died down "It is rather nice around and I couldn't agree more, the water is rather crisp." her eyes sparkled as she looked at him from her place near the water. She couldn't help but recall now how he carried himself in a very particular way and how even now he showed himself only in his most pristene light. She smirked, he obviously cared about how he looked and it amused her that he should care so much around herself. She giggled again, her eyes glinting mischeviously as she took a step backwards so that her paws were submerged in water.

"The grass looks rather lovely as well," she admitted with the most simple smile she could pull off, even though her eyes clearly shone with laughter "but aren't you afraid that those horrible bugs that I see crawling around everywhere will decide to wiggle all around your beautiful fur and make themselves a terrible nuisance for such a handsome boy as yourself" she played carefully with complements, struggling not to laugh as she continued.

"Wouldn't you much rather come out and go swimming with me, Ezeoha?" Now she had to bite her bottom lip to refrain from laughing as she looked down her nose at him as seriously as she could. Although try as she may she couldn't help if a few chortles escaped now and then. The idea of such a girl lion soaking himself to the bone was dreadfully hilarious, even more so would be to watch him sit thinking about the bugs that might infest his shiny pelt. How dissapointing it would be if she misjudged his character.

Ezeoha watched her with slight curiosity, unable to place the source of her chuckles. He did not think that he would be amusing in any way, with his little streak of prissy-ness. Ezeoha grew up being the way he is, and could not conceive of the idea that someone would find how he acts from day to day amusing. So, he was entirely clueless as to why she was chuckling, and he decided just to account it for her ditzy nature. She was a happy-go-lucky kind of lioness, and so if she found something funny, she would probably laugh. He had nothing to worry about.

At least until she drew up the prospect of bugs crawling over his body. He visibily twitched, and gave into the temptation to look down his sleek body, inspecting for any signs of insects. "Well, now that you've brought it up, I am beginning to fear that I'll be covered in parasites. Thank you for that horrible comment. I'll never be able to sleep now." He did not forget the fact that she had commented on his pelt, but other things were more pressing. There were buys lying all over the ground, and he simply would not tolerate it.

But, she couldn't expect that he actually enjoyed swimming. It was another way to get himself clean, and in the midst of a hot day swimming was the perfect way to cool off. "Of course I would prefer joining you for a swim rather than lie here on the dirty ground." He said it as if he had no problem with getting wet, and he didn't. Besides, he would've gotten wet without being reminded of bugs, just because he would be able to get closer to her. Swimming would be the perfect way to get close to her, and seem absolutely innocent at the same time. In fact, swimming would be quite advantageous.

He stood, padding over to her side and pretending not to fret over the possibility of insects crawling over his skin. "Going to get wet, love?" he said, striding into the water with no problem at her, pulling his tail through the water to get it wet, and then flicking it in her direction to send a spray of water at her.
