Lime green eyes narrowed a bit before a sigh escaped from Siltim. Here he was, supposed to be watching over little Alula, but apparently she had bested him once again. And so, he was searching for the little, black cheetah cub but to no avail. How hard would it be to find her, anyway? It's not like she blended in to the surroundings, unlike himself. Ears flicked as his bright orbs tried to spot any signs of his little charge. Why would she have gone so far from home in the first place?!

It was then that he stopped to take a good look at his surroundings before gaping. Well, what luck. This was somewhere new and now he was lost. Ears drooped slightly before he thought about what to do. Well, try to head back home or explore this area? But, if he explored this area, he would be forgetting about his charge? It didn't take him long before a smile was on his features and lit up his face. This was just too good to pass up! His paws carried him forth as he looked around, wondering if anyone lived in this area.

Padding around quietly, a large, pale and lime green female lion stalked the plains that covered this part of the Earth. For once, she had left the shelter of her thorny home, desperate enough for food. The snakes that she lived with were slacking in their jobs, trying to hibernate for the winter. So, she was on her own during the cold months, having to actually go out and hunt. It bothered her quite a bit, but she had to do it.

"I hate the winter.. Ssssuch a harssh time of year. Ssstupid ssssnakess..."

Looking back over her shoulder, she could see her thorny shelter behind her, already tempted to go back to it. She had run into too many lions who were afraid of her, as well as hyenas, cheetahs, and even some wild dogs. Of course, no snakes were afraid of her, but everything else was. That, in a sense, was just another part of her fearsome curse that she had received so long ago.

Ears flicked as Siltim thought he had heard a sound. Curious as to the source, the green male wandered for a bit before his gaze fell over a lioness. But this was not just any lioness! She was green just like himself! A smile lit up his features as he padded over to her, tail flicking from side to side, trying to cover-up that he was indeed, lost. "Well, hello!" This was the first time that Siltim has ever seen a lioness in any shade of green, it made him pleased to know that his family wasn't the only one with the color.

Suddenly seeing this male lion show up out of nowhere made the lioness jump, her reflexes of actually hissing coming into play. She just wasn't much of a lion anymore, so hissing like a snake was the only thing she could do, for it just felt natural to her. After staring at this other lion for a few seconds as he spoke, she found something about him that she could actually relate to. He was green, much like her. Of course, their colors were opposite of each other, but they were green nonetheless. Eying him warily, the female recoiled some, keeping her yellow eyes on him.

"Hello... Who are you.. And why are you out here by yourssself..?"

His tail flicked from side to side as he watched her curiously. Ears flicked at her question before Siltim answered sheepishly, "I seemed to have lost my charge and I'm out looking for her." Softly, he mumbled, "She always seems to get the best of me." That little Alula knew how to sneak out from underneath his paws like a pro. Turning his attention back towards the female, he couldn't help but grin. "I am Siltim, and you are?" Curious as to her name and if perhaps she lived all the way out here, alone? He didn't see anyone else around, but he didn't want to be too nosy now.

Grinning a toothy smile, the female slightly bowed her head, her yellow eyes still keeping locked to the green male that stood before.

"My name is Chu'mana. It'sss quite nicce to meet you, Sssssiltim. Your name is sssoo lovely.. It jussst rollss off of my tongue with such easse."

Watching his body language, the green lioness could sense the curiousity that was building up inside of him. She was full of it too, but for different reasons, she was sure. However, one thing did strike her as odd... This male's green coat. Sure, he wasn't pure green, for he had yellow markings on his face and very light green markings on his back, but not many lions had green coats at all. This simple thing is what kept this female from really going off and snake-like on him, for it had been an extremely long time since she had found anyone to relate to.

Lime green eyes lit up as Siltim returned her toothy grin with his cheeky one. His tail flicked slightly, "Chu'mana, it is a pleasure to meet you!" Head tilted slightly to the side, curious to her bowed head. No one has done that kind of gesture to him before, but then again, he has yet to meet many other lions and lionesses. "Thanks! Named for the wild spirit I am."

He liked her color, it was a nice shade of green. A little lighter than what his family's own, but her markings where curious. It was a snake. A memory came back to him with a large smile. "Your marking is quite interesting, Chu'mana. It brings back a fond memory of my elder sister, who I don't see that often anymore." He paused before asking, "Do you live here?"

Looking back over to the large, thorny sculpture, Chu'mana's toothy smile softened some, memories flooding into her mind.

"Yess.. I do. That is my home. It'ssss where I've lived.. For... A long, long time. I rarely sssseee the ssssun anymore. I live in the darknessssss.. For the sssun burnss my sssensssitive eyesss. Of course, I never ussed to be like thisss... But that is a matter of the passst now."

Turning back to Siltim, Chu'mana's expression had changed entirely. Her once angry-looking face that seemed scrunched up was now full and soft, like a normal lioness would look like. Her yellow eyes seemed to be dancing, viewing over memories of the past.. The memories that she wished would of lasted longer.

"Sssoo... Ssssiltim.. How do I remind you of your elder sssissster..?"

A bit surprised at her answer, nevertheless, every lion was different Siltim had come to learn that. "We can't change what we are, we can only accept it and live life day by day." He gave her a lop-sided grin before looking around. He took everything in, curious by nature.

Though, his attention shifted back towards the female at her question. A nostalgic look flashed through his eyes, his elder sister he rarely saw anymore. "My family is green, and as you would know...quite different than the rest of the lions out here. My sister had left when she was young to travel around and meet new prides and she had visited this one pride where they were afraid of her because she was green. They called her a snake," He nodded his head before continuing, "At the time she was hurt by the accusation, but I told her to be proud of it. Not every lion can pull off being green as gracefully as she."

"Really? Wow... It'ssss much like my own passst... And current life. I am a sssnake to mossst.... My yellow eyessss.. The ssssnake crawling around my arm... My green tearssss that have left a ssstain under my eyesssss... And my conssstant hissssssssing... I am a sssnake... Whether I like it or not."

Looking somewhat sad now, Chu'mana looked down at the grass beneath her paws, her eyes watching it slightly sway.

"I don't like me... For if you knew my passst... You would want to run away.. Jussssst like everyone elssse."

The story sounded a bit like his mother. Siltim looked gently at the lioness, she was what she was and he didn't see her any less. "You shouldn't be so hard on yourself. My mother had a rough time in her old pride because she was green. She was an outcast and had gone through horrible ordeals with members that were supposed to be family." Just because she was like a snake, didn't make him run away from her. "I met a lioness that was a bird. She had wings like a bird!" He chuckled, "So I've met a bird and a snake."

He shook his head, "I wouldn't run away from you, Chu'mana. Your past has happened and nothing can change that...but your future, now that is something which can change for the better!" He smiled brightly.

Chu'mana raised her head and looked up at Siltim. He was much taller than her, considering he was a male and that what had happened to her in the past had brought her own height down some. He was so green.. And she had never seen another lion with a coat as bright as his. All the lions she ever knew were browns and tans, some white and blacks here and there, but nothing like this.

"Sssstill... I never usssed to be green.. I usssed to be a burgandy brown... My mother thought I wasss sssssoo pretty. Now, I'm nothing but a disssgracce to her whole pride. That'sss why I've been living out here in the middle of nowhere."

Looking back at the thorny forest, she could see and even hear the hissing of the snakes, calling her back. She wasn't too sure as to why, considering they had abandoned her when it came to food, but it made her a little bit irritable, reverting back to her nasty self.

"Run away? Why wouldn't you run? I'm horrible! I've killed otherssss.. And frightened many more. I'm told of in sssstoriesss.. About how I am the evil one... I am nothing of a sssssight to ssseeee!"

Turning her head back around, her face had gone back to its normal, pinched look. Her eyes didn't dance with happy memories anymore, only horrible ones, and anger at others. She growled some, now remembering why she had left the shelter of her home in the first place, her tail lashing behind her.

Looking at Chu'mana, Siltim sat down calmly and listened to her. While her past seemed difficult, it didn't matter much to the male. That was something he couldn't change and it was just better to accept what has pasted. Gently, "Maybe so, but green is such a lovely color. Whenever someone asks me about my green, I just tell them that I rolled around in the grass too much." He chuckled softly before gazing at her.

"You want to know why I don't run away?" He asked the rhetorical question, not meant for her to answer. All his life he's never been taught to fear the unknown, but rather to embrace it. It was thanks to his parents that he had grown up right. "Because everyone deserves a second chance. Yes, you might have killed others, yes they might have stories about you, but do you still live with them? Are they apart of your life now other than your distant memories? Not everyone out here in the world is as cruel or as cold-hearted as those you speak of. There are those out there who don't care the color of your fur or what you are, but rather who you are." Pausing slowly before he continued, "I am not afraid of you and whatever your pride has thought about you. I see no evil intentions in you. You are just a lioness who has lost her way and needs some guidance. We all need a helping hand every now and then."

The once growling, burning with rage female, instantly softened, looking at Siltim. The change in her was obvious, her body relaxing everywhere, and her face back to the soft look. While her yellow eyes searched the ground, the slowly went up the body of the green male before her. She looked at him, trying to figure out what was going on with her. Why did she suddenly feel so... So.. Light.. And... Happy? She had so many bad memories... Yet.. Just a few words from this male had calmed her down in an instant.

"You.. Aren't afraid of me..? You like me for who I am...? No.. No one... Hass... Ever... Ever ssaid that to me.. Before. I... I just... I don't know what to sssay.. At all... Other than... Thank you.. Ssssssiltim."

As the female's body language soften, Siltim let his smile spread across his facial features. It was nice to see that she was listening to him. The past could haunt a lion for the rest of his life if he didn't keep such memories in check. Shaking his head at her question, he chuckled, "Of course not. There's no reason to be, you've done nothing to me to make me think in such a way."

His head tilted, "You're very welcome. What are friends for, right? For each to lean on each other in their time of need." His tail flicked playfully, nice to have such a conversation with this lioness and he indeed found her intriguing. She was different from the other lionesses that he's met, which is such a pleasant surprise considering he doesn't know that many lions.
