I'm starting a topic! There's no reason that the three of us can't have a conversation by ourselves--in fact, if you guys don't answer this topic, I will have a conversation with myself. I'm very good at that.
So, in Day One, Jack is clearly very attached to his hand-in-a-jar, which sources have revealed to be the hand that the Doctor lost during the Christmas Invasion. My question is, why do you think he is so attached to the hand? Discuss here. If you don't, I'll talk to myself until you do.

I knew it!! I've been wanting to make a website devoted to "The Hand" for ages, based on that fact...

My theory behind it all is that Torchwood is the harsh reality of the Whoniverse - while Doctor Who is the idealistic, fun, innocent side of it. Jack's been trapped in the harshness of life for a long time now, he can't die, and he misses the Doc and Rose and the innocence of their lives. In keeping The Hand...well, it symbolises how much he misses that life. He's said in a couple of episodes that he's looking for a 'certain type of Doctor' - perhaps by keeping the hand, he also thinks he's somehow keeping his connection to the Doc alive.

Also, I've heard that in the next season of Doctor Who, Jack will be making a comeback. Jack won't recognise the Doctor (because he hasn't seen him since 9th), but the Doctor will recognise Jack - and won't be happy about him being alive, for some reason.
I can't wait to see the conversation between the two when the Doc explains to Jack what happened to Rose...

I thought it might have something to do with the Tardis he's growing on his desk...had you guys heard about that?

Hmm..I didn't know about the TARDIS coral.

Maybe he's growing his own TARDIS and then he will use the Doctor's hand with the TARDIS in order to track him down.

I read somewhere that Magpie's TVs from The Idiot's Lantern are around somewhere. And we know that the TARDIS was responsible for the invisible lift.

Indeed. I'm going to track down my copy of the radio times from months back, because I believe it's got some stuff about it in there.

Please do, and when you find it, let those of us who are less informed know everything you uncover.

The only things the copy I have says Torchwood owns are magnet clamps (the ones the Doctor uses to make sure he doesn't fall into the void,) some Cyberman guns and Sycorax staffs.

Ooooh!! Another "random bit of junk" I noticed when re-watching "They Keep Killing Suzie" last night - Jack has a pair of 3D glasses draped over his lampshade on his desk smile I almost burst into tears when I saw them!
(yes...I'm getting far, far too involved in all of this now...can't be good for a person... blaugh )
