"So, you're sure it ain't worth squat?"
"Not even squat."
What began as a thin line of lips twitched into a frown. A youthful man with white hair and wrapped in a heavy black trench-coat stood as one of many of the various people lined up along the bustling market place of Xuan City. Aside from his stark white hair, he probably blended in pretty well with the shady characters passing along. Mismatched eyes lowered to the large egg within his grasp, running his thumb thoughtfully over the scaly surface. Come on, it had to be worth something! "You're really startin' to disappoint me, you know."
The man behind the display of various odd wares smiled apologetically, an odd sort of twinkle in his eye. "If you don't want it, though, I'll take it off your hands. You're a good customer, Devon m'boy. I'm sure I can convince someone that it's worth something. There's a sucker every day."
The younger sighed softly, tossing the egg from hand to hand. Unknown to the street vendor, he was keeping a careful eye on how the merchant reacted. Oh yes, he was tense. It was worth something. Tossing it up high, spinning, then catching the egg again, the white-haired man slid the egg inside of his coat... next to some of the various wares he'd relieved the cart of in the process of the merchant's distraction. It wasn't obvious- one minute the things were there and, with a flurry of that trenchcoat, they disappeared like magic. "Nah, I'll cook it. Gotta be good for that much." A grin. Yes, there was a sucker in the market every day.
Satisfied with what he'd found out and what he'd gained, Jynn -that being his real name- turned away from the man and began to make his way along the street. He'd steer towards the more worse side of town if he was given the time. He could sell the egg off there now that he knew it was probably worth risking his neck.

((Hope you don't mind if I join you.))
Rain stood behind a tree, near the edge of the wood behind Xuan city. Asriel was pacing back in forth infront of her, his tial swishing back and forth. He was nervous, that much was obvious. "Asriel, I'll tell you again. I'm going to go buy some food in the city. You STAY HERE," ordered Rain, pointing at the ground to enfisize her demand. Asriel nodded slowly, tail between his legs. He didn't want to leave his mistress. And sitting behind a dinky little tree wasn't a very nice place to stay for an hour. Asriel sighed, curling up in the hollow under the tree. "If I need help, I'l blow this," Rain blew the whistle she had around her neck. Asriel snapped to attention, but relaxed when he realized it was only a whistle. He nodded again. "Ok, well I'm going to go into that city now. Wish me luck!" murmured Rain, striding toward the gates of the city.

The crowd parted ways, with surprised gasps and even confused or amazed stares. A very large, Antlered griffin, strutting smoothly an casually, his head and beak turned up not paying attention to anyone around him, a threat to trample them if they get in his way quite clear. Though the male griffin was not by chance strolling though a common market alone. He was headed by a girl, that looked very, very out of place, her clothing was made of the finest silk and fabric, and her style of dress, was obviously cut by one of the finest tailors, and a once of a kind piece at that. The small gold seal on a ribbon around her neck, with a family crest, only to further prove that this girl was from a noble, and very rich family. Her hair was a platinum blond and hung long and elegantly around her shoulders. Though her eyes could not be seen, due to the fact that she refused to look at anyone, she continued on a steady pace, showing that just like the Griffin, she was not going to slow down for anyone.
A noble elder man in a suit and cane followed after the griffin, though looking more respectful in his posture then the girl or the Griffin did.

Ahh, there was one member of said crowd that didn't seem to be at all impressed by the sight of the arrogant griffin and girl. A pair of spoiled nobles, what a surprise! Yes, the hunter was drunk again, and, unfortunately, that sometimes got him in far more trouble than it was worth. Shoving some of that long, dirty-brown hair out of his face, Loch snorted and pushed his way through the mass of gawping idiots. Amber eyes settled on the pair once more before, like an idiot, the hunter stepped right in front of them, idly scanning the crowds for any sign of his normal customers. He hadn't hauled all those furs here for nothing!
One hand idly swept over his chest, straightening out the leather tunic that adorned his body. Loch looked supremely unconcerned with the fact that some enormous beast that existed only in legends was probably about to knock him flat. Her highness could just go around, and take her brute with her. If it wasn't obvious by now, Loch was in a foul-temper indeed. The young man normally was quite courtesy--he was friends with a noble lady, to be honest. Then again, Isilde certainly didn't prance about like an imbecile, acting as though she owned the place.
Shifting his weight to one leg, Loch crossed his arms over his chest, glazed eyes staring out at the crowd. He'd been instructed to wait here--perhaps not in front of a griffin, but...Well, the power of alcohol often compelled him to do stupid things.

Rain slipped into the mobs of people entering the city. Her heart was beating fast, and fear was drilling through her brain. She wanted to get out of this place. She hadn't been in a place with many people in it for a year, and she wasn't used to it. It frightened her. She really wanted some company. She longed for Asriel to walk at her side. At least he wouldn't run into her like all these other people did. Rain bit her lip, blocking it from her mind. She wanted to get her errands done and leave as soon as possible.
After a while of walking around anxiously, Rain came across a small little booth that was selling eggs. Rain looked at the selection, and it surprised her. Chicken eggs, quail eggs, robin eggs, turkey eggs....why would anyone need so many eggs? Rain grinned, moving on. She was surprised when she got a tug on her sleeve. Whirling around, she came to face a stooped man who was very old and wrinkly. Rain stepped back, staring at the man. "You smmmmelll of gryphonnnn," said the man in a slurred accent. He gripped her sleeve harder. Rain twisted away, dashing into the crowds.

Alice shifted her gaze and let it rest for a couple of moments on the man now in there way. light purple eyes scanning his filthy drunken state, her soft lips turned down very slightly, annoyed by the mans stubbornness. though she didn't stop. crossing her steps, she simply moved out of his direct path, and strolled right past him, speaking up as she passed him "Sir, I suggests you get out of the way, Jean does not step to the side as I do"
though she was barely past him before the back of a claw was swiping the Drunk man out of its way. knocking him away and to the ground. the griffin only paused to give the man an indigent look, squeaking from his throat to come out as more of a mumble.
"oh my" the old man behind the griffin said. holding his top hat to his head he strode over to the man that was knocked down. "are you alright sir?" as the girl and the Griffin continued on

Loch fell--and he fell hard, feeling his lip split open on the stone of the streets when he wasn't quick enough to catch himself. Filthy? Ha! Not him, thank you, your highness! He was a respectable man, or, had been until he'd been knocked flat on his face by some spoiled brat and her overzealous beast. "Not fine," He snarled at the old man, wiping his mouth with the back of one hand, ignoring the blood. "You'd think some goddamn people'd have some courtesy, especially those of noble birth." That knock on the head had surely shaken him out of his stupor--and a scream of rage split the sky.
An enormous flash of pink shot from the sky, silver talons slashing at the larger griffin's head, most likely ripping out feathers as he shot past the other male's head. He'd been careful to avoid those antlers, aiming for the back of the head. The adolescent settled with a heavy thump, rearing up on his hind legs and spreading his wings wide, screeching a challenge to the fool who had touched his man. The pink male bellowed threateningly once more, this time actually having the gall to lash out at the girl. This was nothing more than a territorial spute to him--he could smash the other's toy just as easily!
"Ra'ael!" Loch barked hoarsely, and those deadly talons froze, drawing back as the griffin hopped backwards, beating his wings fiercely. "Hoy," He barely breathed, extending one hand, palm facing down, "Come." The pink male laid his white-ringed ears back for a moment, lashing his tail and snapping his beak ferociously at the pair, Ra'ael haughtily drew himself next to his chosen companion, thrusting his head aggressively at the elder man. A steady hand was laid idly on his beak, stroking it as Loch spoke to the old man almost amusedly, "Some people know how to train their beasts, you see--I shouldn't expect such a feat from that lass..."

The Old man gave out a sigh and nodded his head. pulling out a white hankie from his breast pocket fanning it out a couple of times and offering it to the man for his busted lip. though James knew very well it was not particularly intelligent for someone to stand in the was of a full grown griffin, he refrained from commenting on it, seeing as it would cause nothing but anger.
Jean let out a loud surprised squeak, reaping up slightly as he felt a sting on the back of his head. hissing as he spun around, he screamed at the smaller pink male. challenging him? very well! feathers fluffed up activated, that was only increased as the Squirt dared to turn his talons in his mistress. head bowed as he shook his antlers. ready to mouth and squash the stupid juvenile. but before he could the man Jean had knocked down had called him away. Jean watched the pink ones progress, still hissing.
James backed away as the Griffin presented an unwelcome gesture. the girl, who had been watching everything frowned deeply at the man, and at hit words, hitched up her dress and stormed over "Hey! you!" she snapped getting in front of Jean and lowering her dress again, though keeping her soft grip on the fabric "if you have something to say to me! then say it to my face. you seemed stupid enough to stand in the way of a griffin, do you lose your courage while talking to a lady? or can you only muster up enough to talk about her whiles she's at a distance"

Oh ho, a predicament! At first the procession had caught his clear blue right eye only because of the pure flare. After a moment, though, he would drop the issue. People were watching- it wasn't an optimum opportunity to near the woman, much less relieve her of all that fine jewelry she was wearing. He wasn't desperate, after all, merely having fingers that insisted on continually occupying themselves... mostly within the pockets of others. A man was being knocked down, and perhaps that caused the albino to turn a little more, but it took the flash of pink and squalling to call his eyes back to the scene. And oh, what a scene.
An easy smirk came at the sight of the attacking gryphon. The pink ball of feathers had some spunk attacking the horn-bearing behemoth! An idle hand and arm flashed out suddenly, twisting firmly into the back of some woman's shirt as she ran past. It'd likely be ripped before he let her be yanked free. "Not that way, Miss. There's a fight- no need to get in the cross-fire, hm?" How bold; how rude! Jynn tilted his head towards Rain, but didn't allow her to have his gaze just yet. She was on the side where his eye was struck through with a tattoo-like scar that ran to mid-cheek. The side where the iris of his eye was very much a bloody red. People often found that feature of him disconcerting.

Rain had been so into her own thoughts that she hadn't even seen the gryphons that were standing just infront of her! Her cheeks heated up as she looked at the person who had saved her. "Oh, thanks," she murmured, fingering her long braid of hair. She watched the gryphon facing off, wincing when one got hit. Why were they so angry at eachother? She was itching to ask about it and opened her mouth to say something but closed it quickly. Was it not the right time to ask? It looked as if the man was watching the fight pretty closely. But her curiosity got the best of her. "May I ask, why are those two glaring at eachother?" she asked.

Loch roughly shook his head at the offered hankerchief--he would have been grateful at another time, but now was not a good time. He was furious, right now. Ra'ael beat his wings twice more, letting out another loud scream that was surprisingly high in the throat. Oh, he might have been smaller, but the pink griffin was acting as though he was twice the other brute's size. Those smooth, glossy feathers bristled with aggression, and Ra'ael dropped to all fours. His head lowered, and from his wickedly hooked beak came a series of sharp cries--like he was taunting the big male.
As the young mistress herself stormed in front of that big lout, Loch all but roared with laughter, leaning against Ra'ael's side. "Oh, excuse me, your highness! I didn't realize that you understood that it was civil to address someone to their face. My apologies." The hunter swept into a graceful bow, the quiver on his back rustling quietly. "Next time you allow your beast to man-handle me, I'll make sure to have Ra'ael direct his anger towards you, instead." The man scoffed, sweeping shoulder length hair out of his face to see her better.
"Do you really think you can stroll through here and expect everyone to throw themselves at your feet? There's business to be done--not everyone has time to stand aside and gawp like an idiot at you and your ill-tempered body guard." He chuckled, narrowing his eyes as he grinned at them both. "Surely you've been taught some manners, at least? How wretched. Griffins are not royalty--I see no reason for me to stand out of the way of a beast, be it mythological or not. And if you've left him untrained, then that certainly doesn't give you the right not to be responsible for his actions, now does it?" Oh, so they were drawing a crowd, it seemed. He honestly couldn't have cared less.

Alice was compelled to ask if all lower class people where as stupid as this man was. But like every other jealous poor person, they seemed to enjoy trying to demean the noble, perhaps it made them feel better about themselves. She had to admit, she was a bit lost for words for a moment. Trying to add together all the conclusions he jumped to, contemplating how he got off calling them such names. “Manners?” she started raising an eyebrow “you want to talk about manners? How about. Getting in a Ladies way, and forcing her to go around you. At least I was kind enough to warn you that a giant Griffin was about to knock you flat. Call Jean and I what ever you like sir. The opinion of a biased warped man like you will soon be forgotten by us. I’ve made no opinions on the way you choose live. So does it makes you feel big some how when you start trying to demean people? Your more of an idiot then I thought.”
She eyed the pink Griffin, with an expression of being unimpressed. She wondered how stupid this one was to, Threatening a full-grown griffin, he probably got it from his master. Though what could you expect, He probably was not even a high standard breeding, for all she knew he could be inbreed Jean had long lost interest in the smaller puffball. Using his claw to smooth back the feathers on his head behind his antlers. He commenced to preen the rest of his feathers down, laying behind Alice and crossing one claw over the other, head held high with dignity as he just causally watched the crowd either move around them, or standing and watching the argument.
Not considering the pink griffin a threat in the least, she only got closer to the man jabbed a finger in the mans chest her cheeks flushing pink slightly as she continued talking “and where do YOU get off thinking what I expect people to do! How am I any different from a lady with a griffin walking around the market! They get out of the way because they are obviously more intelligent then you. Are you also going to stand in the way of a carthorse now? Have you Pink little Griffin go and attack the horse when it runs you over?” she huffed “then why not go from there and blame the driver for “making people get out of the way”” she said in a mocking voice doing air quotes. The smell of booze caused her to back up a little bit.
James pocketed the Hankie. And strode slowly over next to Jean, watching the mistress, though he did wish to just pull her away, And forever forget those two. He knew the mistress would never permit that.
