LoL we can be pretty together, sephy biggrin
Err, back on topic, I'm excited whee I wonder what the items are that they decided to give us three to choose from this month. Or maybe it's going to be a regular thing in the future? Hmm. Hope they're good items.

personally, I don't like it. I think it was fine just keeping to the two items.
I mean heck if you really think about it, with all the positions you can sometimes get about 6 different types of items out of the letters.

The thing I disliked most was the marketplace reaction. As soon as the announcement came, prices jumped. I hope they get to below 10k once they open. gonk

Seems kinda' like a gimmick to me -- drum up demand for letters so they seem more valuable as "collectors items". *shrug*

Harakeke Seems kinda' like a gimmick to me -- drum up demand for letters so they seem more valuable as "collectors items". *shrug* Yep, I agree. Though I think they're also trying to increase the amount of letters purchased from Gaia, of course. After all, more expensive letters mean that some might find it easier to pay for them with real money instead of Gaia gold.

I think that they try to put more letters into the market this holiday season, and by adding a third item, they'll do so. They were also smart enough to wait until December to do so, as people will have been saving their money for holiday shopping, and this is a good time to spring it on people, rather than earlier in the year when people might not be so "fiancially inclined".

I actually fear that at least one of those three items will be something that can be used for your homes or in towns or maybe for fishing. Don't get me wrong, but I do not believe in Gaia's out of nowhere goodness. There must be a real reason. Besides the financial aspects you guys already mentioned, I also think at least one of the upcoming items will be a game (only) item, which might be disliked by those members not playing much games on Gaia. And that's why they're giving out a third item for this month. This way, they can avoid complaints from those who feel neglected by Gaia... domokun

They're doing it to cash in on the holiday and/or to make up losses from last month (UFOs).

sephirothgal They're doing it to cash in on the holiday and/or to make up losses from last month (UFOs). Sounds also quite possible...Well, we'll probably never hear the real reason, but one's for sure: if this month's collectibles should become as much unpopular than the last month's ufo, then the creators should really get their heads together to design better strategies to keep their donators donating. Three items are too much and four monthly collectibles would definitely wipe the gaian economy out. I can't see the price of 15k for one sealed envelope anymore. sweatdrop

Was the UFO that unpopular? I mean, I didn't care for it, but most of the Gaian population seems to love the current alien storyline and I thought they were well-liked. Especially with the ability to fly around towns in it (though I know the limited time thing wasn't widely approved of).

Well, back in the days when the UFO just came out, I had the feeling that much more people were complaining than satisfied with what they got (it's like this every month, but this month it seemed quite obvious). That's why I still think the UFO is unpopular. But these opinions may have changed due to the grown zurg storyline and the time of habituation...I don't really know, so I better go looking for the latest opinions. whee
