crying

Rev. Leonard Payne once said "You will change what you are willing to put up with." But why do I keep returning to the same sin? Why do go to the foot of the cross with my burden and pick it back up again when I leave?....Ever done that?

Bad habits are the hardest to break. The devil knows your weakness at the moment, and he's trying to take advantage of it. Be strong, and stay in the Lord's Will. I'll be praying for you. Much luck to you. :smiles:

Thank you sister, If I was't tempted I guess it would mean the devil already won me over huh?

this may help, also it may not,

on sunday in the Sermon, we were told that if we sin, we cant carry on building our lives with Christ, we be put in the same situations again and again until we overcome them, that may be with the help of God or it may just be common sense, but until we go past those areas we are, if you like, in a Traffic Jam of life.

So if you are sinning, you pray forgivness, then you will be in the same situation again quite soon so that you can get past it and continue your relationship with God

I hope that made sense sweatdrop

What you should to, is the following, get waht ever influences you doing this sin out of your life, and get new good influences also, apply the word. Tell the problem why it shall not prosper in your life and then quote scriptures on Victory, also quote the verse when Jesus tells us that we can ask of anything in his naem and he will do it, and he will because it is his will for you to live in victory finally thank the Lord you God.

Hey, listen, I know this is an older thread, but I have something else to add. We did a Bible study last night and the comment came up that sometimes we stop praying to God for forgiveness because we're ashamed. We ALL do that. But whatever you do, do not do this! Definitely go to God about it. Because if you ask for prayer, God will help you through it and will aid you. It's definitely a cleansing thing that will help you. Otherwise, sin keeps building and blocking and pretty soon you're just adding on and getting further and further from God.

Someone may ask why should we ask for sin's forgiveness if we're already saved. The first statement is that a father will always love his son, but communication stops just between good friends if there's something you've done and your friend/father has known you've done it. You definitely don't want that. Secondly... why do we eat if we're just going to get hungry again? It's life sustaining. As is staying with God.

God loves us no matter what. And there are definitely reoccuring problems every person faces, including Christians. But God calls us to strive to be like him, not be perfect.

There's an awesome quote somewhere in the Bible that goes along those lines, paraphrasing it says that "I am not perfect, but it's a constant thing I strive for." I'm so sorry that I don't know the place it's in. I'll ask the friend who knows and write it down. for you if you're interested.

If each time we asked for forgiveness we never committed the sin again, eventually we'd be perfect and stop sinning completely, which we know isn't possible for us while in the physical bodies. I think G-d allows us to have a stumbling block in our life, and I'm sure we each have a particular area where we're weak, so that we will be humble and have to rely on Him. We're supposed to struggle against it, yes, and repent, yes, but sometimes the weakness is the thing that brings us back to G-d and keeps us from thinking we're all that and have it together. It reminds us we can't do it on our own and we need His help. Whatever your particular weakness is, keep fighting it, keep bringing it to G-d, keep praying over it, but don't despair. Don't accept the sin as being an 'ok' part of your life, that would be wrong, but accept that the sin is a sign of your weakness and need for salvation. G-d in His mercy has given us a way to be clean and to be free, but it requires faith in Him and reliance on Him for our righteousness, not on ourselves. So let your weakness be a tool in the hands of G-d to keep you humble and keep you focused on Him, so that by your weakness you can continue to find cleansing and deliverance in G-d. smile
