Kifijo was sunbathing.
Normally, this was not a thing he was most likely to do, but in some cases, there called for exceptions.
And this was definitely an excpetion to that rule.

Not that sunbathing necessarily called for a specific reason in doing so, but Kif liked to think that if he had had a hard day (or week), then he deserved to have some personal time. Relaxing. Lazing. Sleeping.
And the sun being so warm and inviting certainly helped.

In fact, the best reason this time for his sunbathing, special-Kif time was probably the simple face that he was a father of seven, no matter the ages, but just the fact that he had to raise three and now in the middle of raising four more right now.

Doing that called for some alone-time.

And he'd most probably take over tonight for Tana.

Prancing along on tiny chocolate paws, Paki sniffed in deeply the scent of the jungle all around his little body and smiled. He loved to be free, he loved to be out on his own. He absolutely loved being alone and having no one judge him for his lack of sight.

That was his major downfall in life, was his eyes and how everyone treated him for them. It pissed him off and made him react in ways that got him into even more trouble half the time. The way that Paki viewed it was that his life was a viscious cycle.

Now more than ever he wanted to find his older sister, the one who'd never judged him, the one who'd never treated him like he was any different.

And then, lost in his thoughts as he was, Paki slammed his white face into the furry shoulder of his father lightly and toppled over. Crap.

Kifijo sighed, resisting the urge to whirl around and smack some sense into whoever had just rammed into him.

However, once he had turned his head to see exactly who it was, the frustration left and he rolled his eyes.

Of course it was Paki, his blind son. Of course.

A paw reached out to noogie the creamy cub affectionately, letting him know that his father had seen him and he was forgiven for bumping into Kif. Not that Kif wouldn't have forgiven him.
It was just a given to forgive Paki. No one could help but make excuses and coddle him, which was probably what Paki detested most.

"Cub, what are you doing?"

A frown curved the edges of Paki's white muzzle downward as he opened it to snap at his father's larger paw. Grumbling he sat down and used his paws to send his mocha mane ruffling with a few deft movements, falling all over his face from the length and thickness of it.

If Tanashita had seen him after one of his father's noogies or after his own reassembling of his far-too-thick mane then she'd most likely blow a gasket and not let him leave again until she'd cleaned and resettled every inch of him. That was just how she was, and seeing that she had stripes it was believable, though Paki didn't know this at all. He simply knew that he was meant to be kept clean and didn't really care.

Expelling a lofty sigh, Paki reclined back on his left hip, spine curved and paws on either side of his left leg for balance, and gazed blindly up at his much larger father. Gods forbid that he walked into his father, it was just one more reason for a noogie and for him to coddle the young vanilla cub beyond his tolerability.

"Just out for a walk Pappi. Why're you in the middle of my path like that?" Paki asked, sniffing at his father's form so the lights sparkled and showed where the large male was. One of these times Paki knew that he'd figure out how to see everything with just his nose and not have to rely on others telling him where it was, but he was only a cub, how much could he expect yet?

Kifijo frowned as well, quickly retracting his paw from the cub's sharpening teeth. He smirked as Paki shook his mane again, predicting a sight of Tana freaking out and demanding to know what had happened to him, insisting that Kifijo had let him wander off too far before returning.

When, in fact, it was of the cub's own doing and they were only a foot apart, twenty feet from the den and the others.
Kif loved Tana, but he sometimes asked the Gods what had possessed him to mate with a neat freak.

"Sunbathing," he replied simply. "What're you doing walking down the middle of my sunbathing spot?"

Blowing the rest of his mane out of his face, Paki pounced up onto Kifijo's belly and yawned softly, spreading out on his father's larger body. He didn't get enough time to spend with his Pappi, it made him feel like he was slacking, but then everyone doted on him all the time, so it wasn't like there was any time.

"You like to sunbathe in the middle of a path Pappi? You're silly." He licked his father's belly and settled down to peer up at the larger male with blind silvery eyes quietly.

Most would call it disconcerting to see that, many would have even looked away, but Paki wouldn't ever notice any of that, so in a way he was saved from the harsh reactions of others. If one could think that as good then he did have a good life.

Kifijo sucked in a breath of air quickly, making his stomach go up and down at a bouncing pace. He stopped, though, seeing Paki yawn. The cub was tired? Kif didn't blame him--he couldn't believe the other four could sleep in the cave with all those bodies at one time...

"Yes, I like to sunbathe in the middle of a path. Makes me get noticed more often than naught. Why thank you. I take that as a compliment." Kif's rather large nose bumped against Paki's for a splint second.

"So. What are you going to do today, son of mine?"

Giggling brightly as he was bounced up and down on his father's large belly, Paki balanced himself so that his paws were spread over his father's body.

"You're huge though, how could someone not notice you?" Paki said with a wiry grin and popped both of his father's cheeks with his small paws. It was a gesture that he rarely made with anyone, but his Pappi was someone special to him, even if it wasn't the same as Moyo.

Sitting up brightly and licking his tail straight once more, Paki smiled down at his father and let another grin cross his muzzle slowly, looking like a cat that had just discovered where the milk was hidden. "Nowhere, Pappi."

Kifijo shrugged at the question, making Paki slide down his stomach a bit.

"You never know. Someone couldn't be paying attention and then trip over me, therefore forcing them to notice me. That way, I might meet a pretty lioness--but don't tell your mother that." He grinned cheekily, almost cub-like.

He stuck his tongue out and licked Paki's forehead in response to his cheeks being popped; he chuckled when the huge amount of fur stood up on end.

"I have no idea where you got that much fur from. You did not get that from me. I would like to think it so, but we all can't be perfect."

Quirking a thick eyebrow at his father, Paki grinned and flattened down his puff of hair once more. He liked it flat on his face and hanging down over his cheeks and muzzle, it made him happy to know it was there, so at least it was comfortable and common.

"You're goofy, ya like women too much Pappi. What's so great about women anyway?" Of course Paki wouldn't tell his mother that, though he knew that his mother would forgive his father, that's just how she was.

Inching back up onto his father's belly again from where he slid down to his chest, Paki found his foot in a giant fluff ball and looked down with his unseeing eyes.

"Paaaapiii... what's this?" Paki asked as he patted the fluffy thing on his father's chest over and over with his tiny paws.

Kifijo frowned, nudging the tiny paws away from the small patch of fur on his chest.

"Easy there, son. That's the only chest fur I have and it's not that much. You messin' with it will likely make some fall out," he teased, pushing paw to raise Paki's forehead hair again.

"There is nothing wrong with females, young grasshopper," he continued. "Your mother is a beautiful specimen and I am a lucky lion to have fell in love with her and find that she loved me as well. The good thing about them is that they keep you warm." His right eye closed down in a wink Paki could not see.

"When it's cold and you bundle all close together, like this," he scooped Paki up into his arms and curled into a ball around the small cub, "she thinks you are giving her warmth, but it's a proven fact that females are warmer than males, and generate more body heat."

Kif nodded, releasing Paki reluctantly.
"Plus, there are other good things, but I like to think of that one the most. Tana's really warm at night, if you haven't noticed."

Tanashita was incredibly warm, but then what'd he expect? She WAS his mother after all. His paws ruffed down his mane again as his dad messed with it.

"Pisha, you lie Pappi. You got so much of it." Paki said with a wiry grin and got snuggled into his father's belly, his face mushed into his leg, "Er... Pappi... your son needs to breath."

"Females don't really appeal to me right now." Paki said simply, rubbing his chest with a paw and looking off to the side faintly. "I'm sure I'll like them one day, but right now they're just... weird and besides, I only know my sisters."

Kifijo smacked a paw against his forehead with a sigh.

"Yes, Paki, I am full of it. And you'll get to the point where you are attracted to females. Most likely when you're an adolescant. I can't promise anything, but I guarantee you'll be noticing them more and more as you get older. And your sisters don't count, younger or older.

"I don't know. Maybe we'll all take a big trip and go visit other lions or something. I'm sure we'd be welcome in the Pridelands, since Moyo and her family are there, anyways."
PostPosted: Tue Dec 05, 2006 6:05 pm

Both of Paki's ears shot up at the mention of his sister and a trip. He'd love to see Moyo again, but then again he was insanely curious to where she was.

"We'd get to... go visit Moyo?" Paki asked slowly, but thanks to his innability to just drop conversations he glanced back at his father and grinned. "Well if I'm anything like you I will right?"

One of his paws batted at his father's tail as he heard him smack his own forehead. Paki knew he was the oddball and somewhat of a screw up of his family but there wasn't anything that he was able to do about it. If he could make it so that he'd be able to see he would have, but he wasn't exactly capable of making himself like his other siblings.

The thought scathed him.

"If you're good, maybe," Kif answered, rubbing his tail from Paki's attack. "I'm thinking of visiting her first myself, leaving you guys with your mother for a short while (and when I do, you'd better behave) and finding out where they are and if it's okay to stay there for a while. Then we can go back and visit like a family. Okay?"

Kifijo moved his tail to Paki's nose, twitching it here and there to try and cause the cub to follow it around, chasing what he couldn't see.
