To keep it nice and simple, the truth is Cirque… intrigues me. It's a wonderful kaleidoscope of so many ideas I've had before, but have never been able to grasp. I want to become a part of that, and at the moment- or even beyond the moment- I think that's all I should really have to say as far as 'y u wantt this!?!!!!1onz'.

As far as an introduction, here is my quest for Simony Wendy-Brackett, a rather strange guy I've been meaning to write up a profile for. I hope for his story to be one of a darker strain of self-discovery with a whole lot of contact-juggling and hypnosis thrown in. My one phrase of advice would be this: This is a much funner quest if you read it out-loud. I write it as I say it, and it probably makes more sense verbally. Maybe. I'm not really here for sense-making.

Silent or not, please enjoy!

Name: Simony R Calvin Wendy-Brackett
Nickname/Aliases: n/a
Title: To Be Added [TBA]
Birthdate: August 3rd, XXXΦ
Birth Place: St. Wimble Simony's Disreputable Academy for Criminally Active Youth, Mitchigun, The Disconnective States, West America

Gender: Male
Age: 23
Eyes: Simony's eyes are almond-shaped and the distinct somber red-purple color of boysenberries. His eyelashes are dark and his equally dark eyebrows are more or less trim. Dark, almost bruise like rings play along his lower eyelids as proof of how little sleep he's been getting lately.
Hair: Choppy and not entirely satisfactory, Simony's hair is for the most part jet black. However, premature strands of grey and white and even an unnatural tawny color are scattered here and there, giving the impression that Simony might have been a tortishell cat in a past life. He usually tries to keep his hair in some semblance of order, but it seems to repel all manner of gels, conditioners, oils, shampoos, soaps, brushes, specialized gloves, and pygmy elephants specially bred to straighten and control unruly locks. Instead, Simony's hair stays pretty much tangled and unruly and ignored if the last should prove possible.
Skin: Simony is very much Caucasian, but at the moment slightly tanned from spending a year at L337 City, Atlantis. He's past puberty, and thus more or less without acne or unsightly blemishes for which he must hide in his room and listen to emo music.
Figure: Simony is essentially and basically male. He has very few muscles and practically non-existent hips which gives his whole body the impression of being slim and not much else. He is neither tall, nor short for his age and gender. Simony simply is.

Personality: Simony is a failure in the most horrifically brilliant way possible. Here, it should be stated the word 'failure' is being used very specifically. The young man in question is neither a monster, nor a problem, nor a degenerate little punk. Simony is a failure in the most horrifically brilliant way. From the very beginning, everything about him is backwards. If he means to sit down, he ends up standing for most of the afternoon. When a pen is required for an exam, he would end up completing the test perfectly with some Lego pieces and a bent spoon. There is no proper way to entirely explain Simony without such examples. Instead of being a person, most of Simony is based upon what he does, and all he does is screw things up. Without the concept of failure and success, he would not know what to do with himself, so it tends to be what he focuses on.

In truth, Simony is sarcastic, intelligent, and probably a lot of other things. However, if someone wanted to know his personality, this is what he would tell them. The Lego thing, and the standing thing, as it has happened to him many times. Simony is a lost individual. He is not entirely sure of who he is, or what is his truth, or how he is meant to act. It is something he plans to work on when he has more confidence, not that he's entirely aware he's lacking in that area. He can act quite selfish. He can be cruel. He can completely not notice until it's too late and he's left with an unlit cigarette and a near to empty bed at around one in the morning. Simony hates hookers with feelings.

He is a very difficult man to explain. He can be a little crow-like in behavior. Uppity. Attracted to shiny things.
Strengths: Intelligence - Simony is smart- entirely and utterly backwards, but smart. He's figured out a couple of those really difficult to figure out puzzles, and could probably help someone else do the same. Most calculations are fairly easy for him, though he's not anywhere near being on a level of "genius". He's just smart. He knows a lot of things, in general.

Magic - This is only a minor strength, and only useful in his performances buuuut... surprisingly, Simony is pretty good with supernatural forces. He can't cast many spells, but he understands how they work. In other words, while he may make nothing of it, he has quite a bit of potential.

More to be added, if they come up.
Weaknesses: Personality – See Personality

Money- Simony is quite fond of credit cards, cash, dimes, and money-trees (though he has only seen one). He is willing to do quite a bit for money of any sort, even if he doesn't need it, and this has often gotten him into trouble.

More to be added, if they come up.
Likes: Cash, credit cards, money trees, chickens, the color black, the color lavender, cool whip, Legos, chocolate, cats, traveling, anyone willing to give him any of those above things
Dislikes: Sweets that are not chocolate, cold drinks, the color yellow, blondes, successful people, dogs, rodents, soulless eyed dolls, thieves
Hobbies: Building complex ecosystems out of Legos, writing poetry, sorting M&Ms or other colored candy, reading Victorian literature, hitting people with said Victorian Literature if they're irritating, memorizing intelligent and/or famous quotes just incase he has a chance to say them

History: Simony grew up in the place he was born, St. Wimble Simony's Disreputable Academy for Criminally Active Youth. It was a boarding school for West America's worst juvenile delinquents, and was more miniature police state than educational institution. Strong, tall walls complete with barbed wire kept all of its occupants inside, and any potential visitors out. The principle, Dr. Calvin Brackett, was not a fan of well-meaning parents who wanted to "see" their horrible little children. He had a system, and it meant no loving foolhardy mother or father would intrude on his students' learning.Or his- and possibly his staff's- *****.

Whether or not he was a direct effect of rape, or seduction, or actual romance, Simony grew up knowing only that his mother was his father's student at one point or another, and that she also wanted nothing to do with her child. Even at age four, when he was first related the tale, Simony could not blame her. His father was a monstrosity, and it was only by a matter of will he did not become the same. In fact, quite a large deal of his childhood was sent avoiding his only parental figure at all costs. He would help the teachers, who were just as bad as his father but less cunning, or deal with the actual students at the school. Any choice was close-if-not-usually treacherous, and Simony grew up with a hole-filled education and quite a bit of "street smarts" (such as, that 'shut up' meant 'right now' and the word '********' had oh so many meanings, tones, and variations depending on who uttered it).

It was only when Simony finally left his father's prison and went to college did he even know magic existed on his world, or that he might have some ability with it. He ended up taking a couple courses and even spent a year in the most magical city on the planet; the marvelous L337 City on the continent of Atlantis. In his opinion, minus the money-tree and pegasuses, it was not all that awesome, but then again Simony is a little bitter towards anything breathing. It is just as he finishes his second semester in Atlantis, and is heading back to a somewhat forced reunion with his father does Simony decide to hop flying train and join a circus that's going AWAY.

AWAY would seem nice.

[Stage 1] Carnie - Simony, being a little unsure of people, would probably end up being used as a pack mule during this stage. He would lug things around, grumble, and then lug other things around. Once in awhile, if the Circus is a little short handed, he may help out with fliers or actual customers. He's going to mess up quite a bit, true to his nature, but do more or less what he's told when he's told it. On the side, he'll be practicing for his supposed debut as... well.

[Stage 2] Castmember - During this stage Simony would be working and actually performing his act. He plans on being a hypnotist by trade, using real magic to force people into his ring/on his stage in order to... essentially embarrass themselves before their loved ones. Hoooraaay! On the side, maybe a little juggling, or more lugging around. He'll feel obligated to do it inbetween acts, really. For the most part, his lugging may have improved, but his act is entirely basic. Amusing, but he hopes to improve himself almost daily.

[Stage 3] Headliner - Now, Simony is in his element. He can start to make his vic- VOLUNTEERS (oldest jokes in the book are in there for a reason) do all sorts of things. Public make-outs, barking, attempts at murder. His show will be very real, and very... out of control. While the audience is going at it under his command, he'll be living the high life... and still lugging on obligation. He won't be at his full potential yet, but he'll be able to really start a show, and might even begin to abuse his power off-stage...? Who knows.

Physical changes might be a more demonic sort of appearance, scaly hands, reptilian eyes, etc. Things that more or less show who he really is, and it isn't entirely pretty at this point.

[Stage 4] - Who knows!

There is a lot to Simony's world, but to keep to the point, it's like a slightly futuristic alternate version of the real world on crack. Magic exists there, as do winged trains and lumberjacks that don't wear plaid. There are no United States; there are the Disconnective States. There is a very small Australia, but more importantly a rather large continent of Atlantis. Everything is a little topsy-turvy, to the point Simony actually seems… normal. In a world where nothing is as it seems, he's a little bluntly himself in comparison.

I really like the hypnotist act. It seems like something that we need around here.

However, I feel like the biggest thing that needs to be worked on here is his personality. He comes off as a bit immature, and I'm not sure whether or not that's what you're aiming for. There are some good ideas in his personality - such as the weird smart thing going on - but some of it just seems disconnected. And the lego thing is completely over my head, as is the backwards bit. Perhaps I'm just in too serious of a mood right now to really get it, but it seems a bit odd-for-the-sake-of-being-odd. One can be strange without being completely mad or random.

I also like the bit of the "lost individual". Maybe write a little more on how he's like that? I also like his history, and I would like to know if anything that happened to him in the past effected his personality now.

And I'm not trying to completely dog your character - I like the idea. I just think that he could be fleshed out a little more.

With the backwards and Legos I was just going with whatever seemed amusing at the moment. I realize a lot of it is random, but I figure there's some honesty in randomness. Not everything about real people makes sense, but that's besides the point. A character isn't real, so yeah. I should try to be a little more concise.

With the idea of being "backwards", again, just being random. It was meant to be a symbolic statement, but I guess I should be more specific. I wanted the idea that Simony is a person out of place for his time and world. He's not impressed by anything in it, and ends up messing up quite often due to his own sorta implications on everything. "Do they mean right? Or two lefts? Oh wait, two lefts don't make a right. Three do. s**t." ... You do have a point on the "odd to be odd" thing.

I was trying to make the profile a little humorous, but if it's confusing... WELL. I shall try to work on making it make more sense. Thank you so much. heart

Just in that little paragraph, it makes a lot more sense.
I think you might be on the road to having something now. :3

I really love your character here. He looks like so much fun and the backwards thing looks like it could lead to very funny situations. The only thing that bugs me is that his talent is hypnotism based. Currently there's something in the vicinity of four or five concepts based on hynotism and similar powers, and if any one of them gets picked it's very likely that the others will have to do some serious re-writing. I'm not saying you should jump to come up with something new, but you definitely need to consider that there are a LOT of hypnotists and that either you all will work together to get your concepts in intact, or someone is going to have to scrap and start over (not a pretty picture.)

You said he likes really complex lego structures - could he do a balancing act instead? Like, a table on a chair on a baby carriage on a bicycle on a birthday cake on an elephant? Held up by magic? (Just a thought.)

You don't have to take any of my advice. I'm just pointing it out.

Good luck! He looks like he'd be fun to RP with!
