Now that Amaya had two new pet turkeys she was making more frequent trips to the cafeteria. And even despite the now somewhat noticable buldge at the front of her stomach, almost none of the food had been for her. She found herself less and less hungry as the weeks went by. Her tail also seemed to be getting somewhat thinner at the base. But for now she had no real way of hiding it and the dresses she had available didn't help at all.

As she awkwardly waddled walked into the cafeteria for more food, a bulletin caught her eye. Something about aquatic islanders...? Sounded like Awen. Maybe it would help Alec or something.

Grabbing one of the notices about it down she shoved it into her bag with the food and then started out of the cafeteria down the long dirt path that lined every duplex.

"Wha th'ELL.... GE'... GE'!! SHOO!... "COME ON, SHOO!" The cross yelling could be heard from quite a distance despite the source being nothing but a man in a wheelchair. A normal outting to the cafeteria had dissolved into a frustrating traffic jam between a wheelchair and several plump turkies all stupidly doddling on every side of him. Either they were very dim or very ill-mannered because no matter how loud the yelling got, they didn't seem to want to budge.

As one approached they would see Alec flailing his arms at the fowl, one or two pecking at the spokes of his wheels as if testing for ediblity even after a few had been whacked away for the same reason, returning every time his attention was distracted bdealing with another turkey.

Although Alec's cursing could be heard, it was rather muffled with her poor hearing. She saw him before hearing him. Blinking yellow eyes she walked up towards him with a little smile. Looked like he was getting around alright in his new wheelchair... if it weren't for the fat turkeys hindering his path.

"Hi Alec. She said while idly booting one of the foul gently aside to help him get through.

Alec noticed the iguana girl from far away before she wandered over, much moreembarassed by the situation he found himself in than he was a moment before. "Ahh, 'ey 'Maya." He shyly looked away until a turkey decided a leaf on his bark-covered arm looked particularly delectable. "OW!" He hissed and flicked the bird in the side of the head, a small droplet of what looked like highly watered-down blood rising to the surface before it was brushed away by his hand.

Trying to ignore the fact that he was surrounded by a crowd of turkies, he glanced back to the girl with a small smile only realize a certain... pudginess to her frame. He instinctually thought the worst which made him even more embarassed. She's PREGNANT? By... with... what?

"Uh... ye lookin'... nice." He forced the compliment as he nervously stratched at the back of his thick neck. Ho'boy. This was weird.

Amaya blinked and would have blushed if she hadn't been overly conscious about the current buldge in her stomach. She snorted. "I know I'm getting fat. I dunno why though, I haven't been eating at all recently. Don't really have the appetite." She gave a little shrug and then kicked away the turkey that had pecked at him.

"Oh, I found something that might interest you." She pulled a piece of paper out of her bag and unfolded it before handing it over.

Awen Zyn
Aquatic Support Helpline

Going through some rough changes? Waking up one day and realising you have gills? Turning into a fish but realising you just can't swim? I know it's frieghtneing, I've been there. If any of you aquatic islanders out there need help, have questions or just need to talk I'll do my best to help, answer your questions, listen or just give you some advice.

Please contact Awen Zyn in Special Duplex #1. If I'm not around leave a note- I'm probably in the lake.

*SPECIAL NOTICE*
If you have grown gills do not, I repeat do NOT think you can suddenly leave the island. You can breathe underwater but it is only in fresh water. If you try to swim in salt water and get away from the island you will experience lots of pain and could potentially drown. I've tried, almost died, please don't be stupid like me!

Alec tried to look amused, chuckling at her bewilderment over her extra weight. She didn't even know? Hooooo'boy this was weird.

Thankfully the opportunity for a topic shange arose when Amaya handed him the piece of paper. The teen straightened the note and commenced a weird sort of movement as he tried to simultaneously stare at the words using eyes angled more to the sides of his head than normal human beings. Finally he managed to acquire a position that allowed him to see the letters, arms stretched out awkwardly infront of him with the effort. Oddly enough even with this angle he still looked as if he was struggling.

Unfortunately as time went on, it became apparent that he was rather inept at the task and that reading itself was not a strong talent at all. Though he refused to submit to his inability, the sharkboy eventually lowered his arms with a discouraged look. "Whassit say?"

The girl frowned as he gave up, but right now she was determined to have him see he could function as normally as possible despite his changes. Afterall, she had been there once too.

"Try tilting your head to the side and reading it with one eye. Close the one you're not reading with." She suggested. "It takes awhile to get used to, s'what I havta do now."

She would make him try one more time and if he gave up then, she would conceed defeat for now. No need to push him.

Alec would've frowned if his shark mouth hadn't already angled in such a fashion, though he was more annoyed with himself than her persistance. He was trying to mask the truth but it seemed there was no avoiding it. "A' c'n see i'." He mumbled low and fiddled with the paper in his towel-covered lap. "A c'nt read i'." He didn't know how to make it more obvious than that besides saying outright that he was mostly illiterate, by choice. School was torture, after all.

"Alright." She finally said, done pushing him. She held out her hand for him to give it back, then cocked her head to the side and read it aloud for him.

He quietly listened to the mini-announcement, comparing it to somesort of cheesy infomerical or newspaper ad for selling useless products that he'd seen in the past though he still tried to keep an open mind. An aquatic support group? Only in this place would there be AA meetings for fish people. Still, it didn't sound like a bad idea. From what he could remember of the manta girl, she had been on the island much longer than him and perhaps she'd gone through this state of suffering he was experiencing. Then again, it could be a complete waste of time and even worse, turn out to be a negative experience.

Still, Amaya had brought it to his attention so perhaps there was use in it afterall. After a short pause, he stared at her as if expecting something more. When he received nothing, he simply gave her a look. "Wha' d'ye think?"

"I think it'd be good... maybe Awen can help you." She said, yellow eyes looking down at him. Ugh, she hated having to look down at him now.

Amaya gave a tiny sarcastic laugh. "Wish there was one for reptilian girls. But... I can't see any harm in going. What do you have to loose?" She asked, handing the letter back to him.

Alec slumped in his chair as she practiced told him he needed help. It was hard to hear it from another person but at least it was coming from her and not some sick b*****d he didn't know or care for at all. Yea... he did need help. He couldn't go around hating everything and everyone or worst yet, himself for the rest of his life. It'd eat him alive.

At the rather rhetorical question, the sharkboy arched an eyebrow smirkingly and muttered a sarcastic response. "Ohhh... mo' o' me digniteh, me confidence, me lunch, me TEMPEH..." As his voice trailed off he made it clear he could go on 'til teh cows came home.

At his words the iguana girl frowned, her free arm dropping to her side while the other held her bag. She looked off to the side, unable to think of anything to say to him.

Alec watched the frustrated girl's reaction and sobered his mood. Although he had already predicted a similar response, it bothered him to see her at wit's end with his attitude. Maybe he really needed that support group thing more than he'd thought.

"... a' was kiddin'?" The teen meekly added to the silence in a poor attempt to weaken his previous pessimistic words. She was only trying to help afterall.

The girl looked back at him, but still seemed somewhat hurt by his words. "Oh... okay." She said meakly, then looked down again and booted another turkey. Most had wandered off by now, finding out that Alec was, indeed, not very edible.

"Where were you goin'?" Amaya asked, looking over at him.
