Don't you wanna come with me? Don't you wanna feel my bones on your bones? It's only natural.
I personally will make my kids obey me. I'm not going to p***y-foot around the punishment issue. If nothing else works, then yes, I will spank them or hit them or whatever I need to do. I will NOT, however, abuse the punishment and I will not abuse my children. It's simply an issue of parental self-control and will. Parents who intentionally abuse their children should be beaten up themselves to know what it's like. But smacking your kid because s/he is being a total pain in the arse isn't wrong unless you want to hurt the child more than necessary.
Don't you wanna swim with me? Don't you wanna feel my skin on your skin? It's only natural.

1. I am interested in the particular verse you speak of...anything, taken out of context, can be manipulated.
2. and yes, people can twist the bible to fit their own means--when Jesus was tempted by the devil, he quoted scripture.

Do I think god can do anything... no. This quasi-real, insubstantiative 'entity' can do no more blow over an ant as create a universe. Cynic? No. Atheist.

Superior Jazz Do I think god can do anything... no. This quasi-real, insubstantiative 'entity' can do no more blow over an ant as create a universe. Cynic? No. Atheist. *Highfive.* Anyways! Of course scripture can be misinterpreted, and you likely will never know the correct interpretation of any piece of scripture. Many pieces of the Bible are disputed. It was written in different languages. It was written a long time ago, and is but compiled scrolls assembled by the Council of Nicaea. It was translated by several people, in some ways that did not agree with other languages. It is even disputable which scrolls were and were not the works of God. Certainly there is room for error.

Quote: It was written a long time ago, and is but compiled scrolls assembled by the Council of Nicaea. which is funny considering the Council of Nicea didn't even talk about compiling the Bible! those crazy Christians.
