Cajmera sat on a bench at the playground, watching Remington industriously digging a moat around the castle he was building in the sand. A soft smile played on her face as she watched her son's energetic labors; he was so intent and so enthusiastic that it was at times like this it was hard to imagine that there was anything out of the ordinary with him at all!
But then...things weren't always as they seemed, were they? He'd come out normal; so normal that he didn't even possess the black demon horns that were the only sign that she herself wasn't really human. Remy looked normal, but the scars that marked his hands, arms, and face born testament to that fact that he really wasn't...
But no. The point of today was to get out of the house and enjoy time with the kids, which was undoubtably the reason that Kaja was nowhere to be seen! Well, Remy at least was sticking around, and Caj was content in the knowledge that Kaja would reappear in due time, most likely soaking wet and covered in algae but triumphantly toting something she'd found in a pond. Yes, it was just a good day...

"Kissmas ?" The young girl asked and a curious sparkle had taken ahold of her eyes as she looked up to her mother. Andraste snorted. She hated all the holiday business, especially Christmas. "Nah, not yet, Nila." She shook her head as they slowly moved along the path towards the playground.
The toddlers hand was buried in her mother's one and the tiny blue fingers of her other hand were moving through the soft fur of her pet Russel. A bit disappointed she sighed and pointed at the sandbox. "Nila go there ?"
Andraste nodded and let go of the small hand as the toddler ran towards the sandbox and stopped right in front of it. One of her fingers was pushed into her mouth as she noticed Remington. Russel followed obediently.

Remy, still involved with his digging, might not have noticed the arrival of another child had she not cast a shadow over his castle. Still on his knees and digging, he looked up curiously at the little girl standing there staring at him. "Hello!"
After all, you were supposed to greet people when you met them, and he was meeting her! "Wanna dig?" Sitting back on his heels, he dusted off his sandy hands and pointed at his castle, obviously beaming with pride at his accomplishment. Maybe she liked castles, too?
~~~
Tilting her head to one side, Cajmera studied the little girl who Remy was talking to. Surely they'd met her before, hadn't they? She and her father, back at the clinic? Hrm...
Nila sucked on her finger slightly and then looked back to her mother. As she made sure that she was close the young girl climbed into the sandbox and nodded. "mmhm...kay."
She looked at him for a moment before sitting down beside Remington. Nila wasn't quite sure, but somehow he had something familiar. Especially because Russel didn't back of, but instead sniffed the boy with curiousity.
Andraste instead smirked at the scene and moved over to the young boy's mom. "Hey."
Having been a baby the last time they'd met, it wasn't particularly surprising that Remy didn't remember Nila...but there was something about Russel that seemed familiar. As he was sniffed at, Remy leaned forward and sniffed back, then poked at him experimentally. "Remy know you?"
~~~
Looking up from the sandbax to the young woman now addressing her, Cajmera smiled and offered a slight wave. "Hey to you as well. Is that your daughter?" Inclining her head slightly in Nila's direction, at the same time she patted the bench next to her. "Feel free to sit down, as well."

Russel gave an approving squeal and folded his hoves below his belly. Frowning slightly Nila watched the castle for a moment and then turned back to Remy. "Yeah...Nila." Even if it wasn't true there were always grown-ups running around and greeting each other and so perhaps it was the same with her and Remy.
Andraste moved to sit down and put her right elbow onto the bench's back. "Yes, Nila is my daughter. I bet that little one she's talking to is your son ?"

Remy'd been talking to Russel, but it made sense if he knew Russel he knew Nila, 'specially if they went around together. He didn't remember the names, but 'Nila' sounded like a nice to remember name. Grinning, he leaned back from poking at Russel and waves a pudgey and scarred little hand at Nila. "Hihi, Nila...I's Remy!"
~~ Smiling a bit sheepishly at how obvious her question had been, Cajmera nodded her head. "Yes, that would be my Remington. What can I say, it's impossible for me to disown him, even if I wanted to." And the soft look in her eyes as she glanced back at her son indicated that she had no such desire. "And what is your daughter's name?"

Russel just watched Nila carefully whereas the girl started to play a bit with the sand. She still didn't dare to look into the boy's eyes being a bit shy in general. "Remy. Wha you play ?" Pointing at the castle she lifted her head slightly.
Andraste watched the couple for a few seconds before turning back to Cajmera. "Remington. Nice choice of a name, what made you call him like that ?" She grinned at the mother's comment. "Oh we go by fishbaby usually, because of her skin colour, but her ordinary name is Nila Sariswati."

Grinning at the query about his pride and joy, Remy was more than happy to explain what he was doing. Flopping back down onto his hands and knees, he pointed out the various parts of his castle. "Remy's buildin' a castle; see, there's windows an' a door an' a bridge (made of sticks; he was very proud of that) an' now a moat! See?" Here he pointed at the trench he was in the process of digging around the outside the castle. "Moats have water!" A very exciting concept, one that made his eyes sparkle just to think about!
~~~
Crossing her arms behind her head, Caj chuckled; this wasn't the first time she'd been asked the source of Remy's name. "I named him after my shotgun, actually; since there was a distinct lack of masculine influences around to contribute a more tradition name." Winking at the other mother, she nodded at hearing Nila's name. "Fishbaby is sure catchy...but if that's her name, I think that I've met her before; with her father, at the GMFC?"
Nila was actually awesome at listening and so she just nodded once in a while. It was one of those concepts you learn when having lots of siblings. As Remy ended his explainations she said nothing for a while and then pointed at the moat. "Water is coool....'oly s**t !" She had catched that from her older brother Jacosa.
"That's a good reason then." The mother grinned and was startled as Cajmera mentioned that she had met Ranjit. Forcing herself to remember anything she shrugged. "It's quite possible that he told me about you, but I'm sorry the past weeks have been so busy and I don't remember. Doesn't matter anyway, but now we've met personally and the children seem to get along quite fine." As she heard Nila's talking she became a bit pale though. "Nila !"
At Nila's comment, Remy cocked his head and blinked. He'd heard that once on tv before, but Kaja had told him that it was a bad word, one that you shouldn't say. Maybe Nila didn't know that? She must not have an older sister.
Leaning over, he patted her mouth with a hand and shook his head. "Nila shouldn' say that; issa bad word!" And his eyes got huge and round with emphasis. Bad things happened if you said bad words!
"Hey, don't worry about it. I'd hardly expect anyone to bring up so trivial a meeting; both of us were waiting for the doctor, and we talked about kids. My name is Cajmera, by the way." Caj had barely finsihed introducing herself when she heard Nila's comment, shortly followed by Remy's response; he was so serious that, in spite of her fellow mother's upset, she found the corner of her mouth twitching to hold back laughter.
Nila was totally freaked out by his reaction and her eyes grew wide as she moved closer to Russel. "Water bad word ?" She dug her fingers into her pet's fur and put the other one back into her mouth not minding the slightly sandy feeling. "Why ?"
Andraste couldn't help but laugh at the scene. "Woah, now tell me how you managed to get him that well behaved !" She giggled slightly and shook her head in disbelief. "Must be her teenage brother teaching her such words."
At Nila's query, Remy shook his head vehemently. SHe DEFINITELY couldn't have an older sister! "No, water's a good word. Bad word is..." Glancing over at the bench where his mother was sitting, Remy leaned over to Nila and whispered almost inaudibly "s**t". Straightening up, he nodded vigorously. "S'not a good word to say, nope."
Since Andraste obviously found it funny, Caj finally allowed herself to laugh as well. That kid! "Don't look at me; it was his sister who taught him that. No matter what I say, it doesn't matter worth beans until Kaja affirms it. He totally idolizes her." Still, it had good results in the end, obviously.
Nila was just about to stuff her whole hand into her mouth as she heard that water was a good word. A sigh escaped her lips and she moved closer to Remy to listen to his words. It really had to be a secret. "Kay, s**t not a good word." Nila beamed a smile at him. "Now we play ?"
Andraste found it quite good that Caj laughed as well. "Oh, Nila is the oldest girl at home. I guess that's the result of it." She grinned. "Do you have many children ?"
...And she'd said it again! Remy's eyes got huge, but he sighed resignedly, realizing that SOME things just took practice before you knew they were right...or not to say them. Nila'd learn, just like he had! "Ok; want to diga moat, Nila?"
Still chuckling, Cajmera brushed back some hair, tucking it behind her ear, then shook her head upon hearing the other woman's question. "No, not really; besides Remy, I have a teenage daughter, Kaja; but that's it. If I'm remembering correctly, you have a few besides Nila though correct?"
