I hate Ruka.
Yes, his goal to bring Juri happiness was alright, but he went about it the wrong way! He could have done a much better job. (I mean..he forced himself on her!) He's such a b*****d!
He should die
well...he does..but I mean, Juri should have stabbed him... *STAB*
I'm going to draw a comic about juri killing everyone..sort of. It'll be like a short story <3)
The main point!
Post your pros/cons list as well as your personal oppinions and how you can ralate to Ruka or (if you're like me) how much you -hate- him. I'm sure I'm not the only one, right? especially you Juri fans! (right? I'm not alone..am I?)

Ruka is to me a very bland person for compared to everyone else. They should have given him a little more history and the way he handle Juri was wrong. I honmestly think he shouldn have never lead onto Juri that he liked her when he knew he would die.

Arieta Cruz Ruka is to me a very bland person for compared to everyone else. They should have given him a little more history Yeah, he kind of fades into the background for me so I haven't really given him much thought.

I don't believe they developed his character enough. And I do believe he went all wrong about trying to "save" Juri. Though I do pity him.

Yes, he was yet another adition to the list of random characters, like that one girl who liked Toga and was part of Nanami's group, who don't matter. Yea I didn't like her that much stare . But you know, these characters are just supporting characters so they don't do much to the story.

Didn't Ruka died at the end of the episode when the shadow girls were saying a young man past away? OH and one more thing

He says that like, 5 times in those episodes....
He knew he was going to die soon and wanted to spend the rest of his time with Juri...

I think that the whole point of Ruka and the reason why we didn't get much of a story about him was because he was gonna die, I think personally he just wanted to fix what he ruined between juri + Shiori + and himself. Also I think he was trying to live with no regret of not doing anything, thus why he kissed Juri why he appeared to be an arrogant b*****d!

Following the most general theory of Ruka's motives, I've always supported his whole saving Juri from herself thing, but I don't think it was worth it for him to hurt Shiori in the process. Oh, and yes, it is implied that he died, though technically his death is just symbolic.  See? He's a zombie. :3

Haha. I love your zombie Ruka Razara. Did you make him?
Anyway, back on topic, I've always liked Ruka because he intended to help Juri. Yes it didn't work out perfectly, but he was working with very limited time and probably didn't think everything through perfectly because of it. However, I think that he did succeed with his goal.

I know how you feel. I wanted to throw something at the TV at the end of the episode when I noticed the chair symbolism. The three chairs each represent one of them, (Ruka's is on the bottom, Juri's is the top left, and Shiori's is the top right.)
During the episode, Juri's chair is facing Shiori's chair, Shiori's chair is facing Ruka's chair, and Ruka's chair is facing Juri's chair. Basically, it's a love triangle, it the direction each chair faces determines who's in love with who. At the end of the episode, after Juri's locket breaks, Shiori's chair finally faces away from Ruka's chair to face Juri. I was so happy, because this meant that she had realized her feeling for Juri...
But then after Juri hears that he did everything he did to save her, Juri's chair faces away from Shiori's chair and towards Ruka's chair, which is no longer there, because he's dead.
So close, and yet so far away... gonk

Once again, I know how you feel. Though her chair did face Ruka's chair, that doesn't mean it's going to stay that way forever. I mean, Ruka's dead... It's not like that could really work out. (Though technically whether or not he really died is debateable.) I think that, whether he meant to or not, that Ruka actually helped their friendship. For one thing, what he put Shiori definitely made her a better person, and perhaps made her realize what Juri goes through. This change is necessary for her relationship with Juri to work out. And on Juri's part, she had to realize that not being with Shiori isn't the end of the world. For things to work out, she needed to realize that Shiori isn't perfect. I strongly believe that Juri's chair will face Shiori's again eventually, especially now that they're both on the fencing team.
