Sand was in Del's opinion a wonderfull toy, you could draw in it, make things with it or just squish your fingers in it and still have fun. At the moment Del was enjoying that first option, she was doodling a map to nowhere with a small twig. With winter approaching it was too cold to stick her fingers in the sand but there were plenty of twigs and rocks about to help her with her play.
A few feet away Malen sat on a park bench reading a book while keeping an eye on his daughter. it pleased him that something as simple as sand could still amuse the young girl. He was also happy that the girl's activities were both active and as far as he knew had nothing to do with being a superhero. He really did need to dissuade her of the notion that such a thing was possible.

Fleur was once again immersed in what remained of the flowers, feeling a little depressed and upset that he had not been able to indulge in them more, but it could not be helped. He was only adopted by Stevie a few weeks past, and winter had already begun to set in by then. Still, he drew what enjoyment he could from breathing in the last remnants of their scent though that proved to be a mistake when he inhaled some pollen left over from spring.
Fleur's tail bushed out with his loud sneeze, and he blinked several times to stop the world from spinning. As he rubbed his nose and sniffed to clear his head, he flipped one ear when he noticed a faint scent on the breeze indicating he was not alone in the park. Curious, he raised his head up high from the flowerbed to gaze across the area, his eyes stopping on a small figure in the sandbox not too far away.
Instantly, he froze simply at the prospect of meeting someone new. He wilted though when he felt Stevie's exasperated look at his back - she had already seen the other kid, and he knew what was coming next.
"Go say 'hi', Bub," she prodded. "And don't act like that - Revon and Canti were okay, weren't they?" Fleur drooped pitifully though he could not deny the truth, and he reluctantly stood, giving himself a spray of his perfume to make sure his natural odor was well-masked.

"River here and waterfall there, so you have to take an engine power boat so there should be docks ..hmm" Del was perplexed she'd left no space on her map for docks. Of course she'd never need docks or a boat she had a dragon coming to her. She still remembered leanring about her dragon so many months ago and she eagerly awaited the day it would hatch.
Shaking her head she added a helicopter pad with her right arm fin. The cold sand felt weird on her rubber appendange and she decided she wasn't going to do that again any time soon.
Looking up her grey eyes scanned for something else that would be found on a map. What her eyes found however was a young boy of a species she couldn't quite make out. Still, it was someone to play with or talk to and so she raised an arm and waved .

Fleur blushed when he was spotted though it was hard to tell with his black fur. He had hoped he would go unnoticed, but that was not to be, so he reluctantly padded over to the sandbox, his tail drooping a little. He did not look right at her simply out of nervousness and shyness, instead rubbing his furred toes in the grass.
"H-H'lo..." Fleur meekly spoke, chancing a glance up from the ground. After getting a good look at the new girl, he found himself growing less nervous and more curious. He had no idea what she was though glancing over her long tail first made him think of a fish of some sort - even then, it did not look like the tail of Stevie's fish which she called "siamese fighting fish". Chrysler called them "betas". Whatever they were, this girl certainly did not have the right tail for it.
Realizing he had been staring, Fleur blushed again and stammered, "M-My name's F-Fleur..."

Del smiled kindly at the younger child, he seemed shy and she didn't want to scare him away. " Hi Fleur I'm Delphinidae or Del for short,." She thought the boy's name was quite cute and she was positive it meant something in another language but she couldn't remember what.
Swinging her tail across the sandbox she erased her map and gestured for Fleur to join her " Would you like to make something with me?"

Caught off guard by how outgoing Del was compared to his previous two acquaintences, Fleur just blinked stupidly at her for a moment before sputtering in response, "S-Sure."
He carefully climbed into the sandbox and once again found himself fascinated with her tail, watching it easily erase the picture she drew earlier. She did not have wings like Revon or antennae like Canti, but he was quickly beginning to realize that no two D-Corp children seemed to be alike. "Um...wh-what...are you?" Fleur finally dug up the nerve to ask, hoping it was not an offensive question. He decided that if he had not figured it out by now, he was obviously not going to.

Del just grinned at the question" I'm a dolphin I guess I sort of look like a weird mermaid or fish or something but I'm not. Fish are fish and dolphins are mammals." She eyes the boy " What are you? Oh and what do you want to make?" She'd already had a chance to play in the sand alone so Del thought it only fair that Fleur got to choose what they did.

"Ohh," Fleur drawled. Now that she brought it up, that tail did look familiar - Chrysler had shown him a few picture books, and he thought he remembered seeing dolphins in them before though looking at Del, he thought she was quite prettier than the ones in the books. "I-I'm..." Fleur drooped, embarrassed. "...a spotted skunk." As if his natural odor was not enough of an embarrassment, he was not even a "proper" skunk as far as any picture books were concerned that he had seen. Every skunk he saw in pictures or in cartoons was striped, and he had blotches of white on his back with the V on his forehead the only true stripes on his body.
Hearing her second question, he tried to switch the subject. "U-Um...a castle?" he suggested. Fleur had heard of sand castles and had seen just one picture of one in Stevie's photo album of her last vacation to the beach though the boy was not quite sure how sand was made to stick together like that.

"Spotted? Wow that's neat I thought most skunks were supposed to have stripes. It must be cool to be different" She frowned a bit " I'm a bottlenose dolphin but I don't look much different from any other dolphin." At least she didn't have a huge nose like her kind tended to.
She thought about his request for a moment then nodded " Ok castles are fun but you haved to dig for a bit to get dark sticky sand becuase we have no water to make it sticky."

"That's what makes it stick together?" Fleur asked wonderously. It made sense now that he thought about it, but he had no idea before. He quickly shuffled through the little messenger bag he carried with him, knowing he had a bottle of water in it somewhere in addition to his coloring books and perfume. Since his fur was black, even in the growing winter cool, the sun could make him overheat, so Stevie always made sure he had at least one bottle of water with him to keep him hydrated.
"Is this enough?" he finally asked, holding up the bottle proudly. It was the only one he had, but there was a water fountain at the other end of the park he could refill it with if he got thirsty.

Del nodded " Yeah that will work, it's much easier than carrying bucket of water from the ocean at the beach becuase buckets can get pretty heavy and somone might ruin your castle while you're not looking." Del wished she'd have been smart enough to think of bringing a waterbottle.
" Just sprinked the water over as much sand as possible so we have a lot to work with then we'll start building an oute wall, it's important to have a strong perimiter." Del still loved that word, checking the perimiter had helped her has a child be the first to win the saint patricks day hunt.

Fleur eagerly began following her instructions, unscrewing the mouthpiece from the bottle so he could pour the water over the sand more than a few drops at a time. He stopped at her last statement though and gave her a blank, confused look. "What's a...per...per...imeter?" Fleur rolled the word around on his tongue, confused. It was a difficult word for him since he was still just a toddler, but he was eager to expand his vocabulary at any opportunity.

" It's the outside of something like the the other side of the wood that holds the sand in here is the perimiter of the sandbox. My daddy told me about thisa longt time ago It's important for his job and strong castles but not all the time. The dolphin girl sincerely hoped she wasn't showing off or anything she had a tendency to let words run unchecked from her mouth.

"Oh! Like a playpen?" Fleur perked up at this new knowledge. He did not seem to mind Del's showing off at all - in fact, his ears twitched as he gazed up at her. The more he stayed with her, the more fascinated he became. She was smart as well as nice.
After a moment though, he turned his attention back to wetting the sand, letting Del show him how to begin since she seemed much more experienced than he.

Del watched the water turn the light gold sand a dark brown much like freshly tilled dirt found in a garden. Waving her tail over the sand she made sure as much sand as possible got some water. " Ok let's begin with the wall around the castle. "
Deciding at this point wet and cold hands couldn't kill her Del dug into the sand then proceeded to squish her hands togeather forming a small compact wall of sand a bit smaller than her hands. " Just do that , we make a square around where our castle will be., it looks messy at first but once it's made you can fix it."
