Until we have a spam/chatter subforum, this will have to do for now. Keep this PG-13 and please no bumping. We don't have many threads.
Play nicely.

Since I'd feel guilty about filling the intro thread with a response to Placebo, I'm going to answer here... Placebo Paradox Song_of_fire I hate: uh... people you use text speak in exams? Please do not tell me that people actually do that. =_= Well, only just this year has it actually been allowed on exams. I don't know why, but then again I am taking all the non-essay exams... I think it was a problem in previous years and people were complaining if they used text speek they might be able to write the essay faster. I don't know. I even paragraphed my explaination on how the circulartory system works.

;.; They're even writing classic novels using chatspeak for cell phones. Tis a sad day.
><# They're actually making a movie out of Eragon. Can you believe it?

O.o and I thought my graduation test in high school was bad... @.@
Here was one of the math questions (word for word)
*stop sign* What is the shape? A. Angle B. Line segment C. Line D. Polygon
I kid you not. I remember it now about 3 years later. That insulted my intelligence and I suck at math.
Anywhoo. My cousin tried to talk to me in chat speak online. I flat out told her if she wanted to speak to me, she'd speak to me normally. I don't go for the 'u' 'ur' 'lyk' crap.

That maths test sounds like the Drivers learner's test over here.
Seriously, one of the questions was:
When is it ok to stop on a highway?
A. To take pictures B. To pick up hitchikers C. To take a walk D. In an emergency

Wow, those questions are so easy, they're almost painful to look at...
I've heard about the Eragon movie. I can't believe they're actually doing that. It doesn't deserve a movie at all -_-

Speaking of questions that hurt your brain, take a look. This was a real question I saw on my brother's test, I kid you not.
Princess Diana was the princess of what animal? a. Lions b. Whales c. Horses d. Eagles *e. Wales. The country.
* My brother's addition. <3 him.
Ugh, they're making an Eragon game too. That book is an insult to writers everywhere, I can't believe it has market value.

Tis a very sad day, but then against, the general population can't tell good writing from utter crap. I mean in the US. Don't know about anywhere else, but our education system is going to hell in a handbasket. If you want an education, private is the way to go, but it's expensive, and most people can't afford it. *sigh*
I can't believe there's even a market for it.

I know. I was just watching the news, and more than half of Washington students failed the math portion of the WASL (our standardized test). It's ridiculous. As much as I despise science and math, I still realize their importance. I'm not going to let my marks go to hell.
Eragon is living proof that the general population can't filter. Period. Most kids my age would rather read teeny-bopper nonsense than classic literature! gonk It's a travesty and a damn shame.

I don't like Chemistry, but I do see the value in learning it or at least for the people who are going to use it. As for math, I like it except where you have to prove thereoms and whatnot. I often keep forgetting the small things, but when using the formulas, I don't mind.
Many people prefer the cliche, because it doesn't take much to comprehend them. Not to mention, some of them can be classified as wish fulfillment. What they need are good teacher, who would inspire them to read good books. They can be interesting if you put the right spin on them.
Eragon is a LotR knockoff.

I've read the list of Eragon and LoTR names side-by-side. It's insane. Almost everything is either a close variation or the name verbatum. I'm sick of this idiotic Eragon craze. Can't people see that some kid took every single fantasy novel and ripped it off? And now they have movies and games, and, maybe - - God forbid - - action figures.

I keep hearing Eragon(sp?) what exactly is it? I'm completely lost as I rarely read any popular fiction these days. Aside from Dan Brown books and the occasional book that catches my interest. My interest lies solely in manga and the classics.
I hate math but I still take it cause I know I'll at least need the basics to get through life.

Same here. I saw the list of their names and the description of the characters. It's like a kid's trying to write his own version of a bunch of fantasy story. What's worse is that they actually published it. I mean come on. Anyone with half a brain can tell that he heavily borrowed from other works that it's almost copying them.
Oh, they'll get to action figures, lunch boxes, pez dispensers, posters, the whole works, because they know it will sell. >>U Stupid mindless fans.

FallenSin I keep hearing Eragon(sp?) what exactly is it? Basically some punk fifteen year-old took a bunch of popular fantasy/sci-fi books and meshed it into one load of super crap. Not worth the time, money, or effort. Fun to read the sites bashing the book and him though. I think wiki has some info on the whole thing. Eragon doesn't have it's own action figures yet? That won't last long.

Other than the fact that it's a major rip off of other books, another pathetic thing is that, the piece of crap actually got published. I've seen people with infinitely more original ideas than that idiot 15 year old, and they can't get anything published! It's the biggest disgrace to published works in our modern day crying
But thankfully I was spared the misfortune of actually reading it, thanks you our very own Mrs. Molko ^^ I was too busy reading her Yu Yu Hakusho anyway XD How many idiots in our class picked up that book last year and liked it?
