Kayre sat under a large tree tree, its leaves stripped from winter. She looked up to the sky. If only she hadn't followed the God of lust. For such a long time, she had followed Him with great enthusiasm, thrilled that she had such a fun life. Now, it all had come back to her. It was terrible.
She remembered when she told Vulperomes that she didn't want kids. At the time it was mostly true. A lust malu would never have much interest in kids. But now all she did was fantasize about having a family with him.
Oh God of lust, thought Kayre, why must you punish me so?

Vulperomes shook the water from his fur. He had just bathed, having left Citrine sleeping in the water temple. He had panicked when he awoke, wondering what he had just done. He was so confused, these feelings were so strange, he had simply fled.
Now all he could think was how terrible he felt. He really liked Citrine, but had he just used her to forget about Kayre? If he had, why did he care? He had never cared before... Nothing made sense anymore, how frustrating... but he knew he had to do something.
Wandering the temple, it took him an hour before he looked outside to see Kayre. Seeing her, he froze, not knowing what to do. Gaining mobility back, he started walking toward her. She was so beautiful it was stunning, "Kayre." He croaked desperately, not knowing what to do, he froze again and just stared at her pleadingly, not hiding the desperation on his face. She seemed to look sad too... why?

"Oh, hi Vul-Vul!" she said, trying to put a smile on her face. Acting was getting harder and harder. But she couldn't let her emotions show. It would mess up everything with him and Citrine. "How was your date?" she asked, only slightly noticing the look on his face. She figured he must have just been tired.
Kayre was having trouble controlling herself. She just wanted to kiss him. Doing it would be good to her God, and make her happy. But it would also make her feel terrible. Kayre had never felt this guilt before. She had thought she hated Citrine, but couldn't help liking her. She was so nice. And she didn't want to ruin it for them. So Kayre had two choices.
Her God, or love?

Vulperomes saw her smile falter. Without changing his expression he walked closer, "It was... distracting. She's a sweet girl." He felt a pang of guilt, but soon distracted himself with her face. Leaning in he kissed her.
Pulling away suddenly with a dry sob, he went down and covered his face with his paws, "What is this?! What's happening!?" He wasn't crying, but he seemed close to going insane, it was too much, whatever it was inside him, he didn't know anything anymore.

Kayre tried to keep smileing as the moonlight hit his face. Then, he kissed her. She felt like she was floating, in a heaven of everything amazing. Her god was smiling down, and she was with him. Then he stopped.
The world exploded back, and suddenly Vulperomes as on the ground screaming. "Wha...whats wrong?" asked Kayre, genuinly surpised. "Listen, if you have something with Citrine and I am messing it up...just... I am really sorry. Ignore me. It might be best...we don't see eachother" she said, softly, but still audubly.

"No!" He stood quickly, looking terrified at the thought of her leaving, "Please stay. It's... I..." He didn't know how to explain it, "Females... never mattered before. But... now you... you're in my mind constantly. I can't get you out of my head, your face, your smell, the way your coat glows white when the moon reflects off it."
He stepped toward her, pressing his chest against her as he leaned his head across her neck, pleadingly, "Kayre... you're breaking my heart."

Kayre stood there, in absolute shock. He loved her back. The object that had been causing her so many nights sleep...loved her back.She suddenly felt light and happy, like everything was going to be ok. It would work out, they would be together, they would start a family, it would be wonderful.
But then she remembered her God. Her good, loyal God, who had been so good to her all her life, never denying her of any pleasure or happiness. Would she really betray him for a male that had just come along?
Tears rolled down her eyes. "I...don't think I can love you back" said Kayre, tears running down her face. "But I can give you all I have to give for tonight, In the name of Lust" she said, looking up to the sky.

It wasn't a break. His chest just became hollow and empty. The pain was so great, he couldn't feel it... couldn't feel anything.
Then he grew angry. Fine, if that's the relationship she wanted to have, that's the relationship she would get. He ignored her tears, ignored the way she obviously felt.
"We can do that then." He said blankly, masking his anger. He took in her scent, then nipped at her neck skin, pulling her more into the shadows of the temple.

Kayre looked at the the only malu she had ever loved. The light in his eyes was gone. they were blank. She suddenly felt panicy, wanting to runaway. But she felt terrible, and the Lust God would want it this way. Their love could never be, so she should indulge in Lust.
"OW ow ow, that HURTS" She said as he pulled her into the temple. "I can go MYSELF" she said angrilly, digging a claw into his back, then pulling him in for a deep kiss. "I am coming, ok?" she said, softly, trying to bring the Real Vuperomes back.

He pulled back and softened a bit. He hadn't meant to hurt her. Apparently he had gotten carried away in his anger. He lowered his head, butting against her gently. He couldn't enjoy this angry, it would hurt, but it would be worth it.
"I'm sorry." He whispered, then kissed the spot he had bitten her, "Shall we?" He forced a small smile, looking up at her from his lowered position.

Kayre smiled slightly, tears still fallingfrom her eyes. She had gotten through, at least a little bit. She didn't want this to be an act of anger, it would be a last stand, a way for her to show the God of Lust how loyal she was. He would smile on her, right?
"Its ok" she said, nuzzling him. "Yes, of course" she said softly.
