Evey sat silently by her favorite lake. It was quite a ways from the Nature Pack or temple, but was also quite beautiful in itself. It was one of the only areas with fish that were not puny and one of the only areas that could even relate to a sea. It was Evey's favorite place to be. She sat silently, only hearing the sound of the water around her and the rustling of leaves as the wind blew.

She thought of the time she had spent with Kamin before then. She really enjoyed their time, they complimented one another very well, and their Gods were so closely related it made time together enjoyable and peaceful. No trying to convert one another, no heated discussions. She sighed as she looked down into the water again.

After the relatively lazy day, Kamin went off on a safari. He had only been to the Temple and the Nature Pack thus far, and the fact that he was so unfamiliar with his home had disturbed him. As he slugged along in the heat, he mapped out what he was seeing, using landmarks to remember how he had gotten there. Directions had never been his strong point, though he was mildly confident he could make it back to the pack's territory a bit after dark. If he got lost, he was sure another oasis dweller could point him in the right direction.

It wasn't long before the male was sompletely lost. The plotting of landmarks had done him no good, and his mental map was in complete disarray. Giving up his cause, he turned around and started heading back. At least, he thought he was heading back. Much instead, he was heading even fartehr away from anywhere he had been in the past, and his outlook on getting home at all tonight was looking bleak. When he happened upon a lake, he was beyond himself. The head had streake dhis fine fur with sweat, causing it to stick together in little triangles. It was rather unenjoyable, and he couldn't contain himself. Bounding towards the lake, he didn't even notice there was already someone there before he was in the water, splashing about like a pup.

Evey was looking inot the water as she heard splashing and frolicking in her lake. HER LAKE. This was her peaceful spot, how could someone violate it like that? She had never encountered someone in the lake before this time, and this first was not a pleasant one for Evey.

She had no idea who was in the water at this point, but she didn't want them there. "Hey! Hey there! What're you doing?!" She bounded over around to the area where the other malu had jumped into the water.

Kamin surfaced at the voice, hearing the obvious anger rooted deep within it. A female's voice, he mused. Territorial beings, they were. Needed their space. Maybe she was in season and just in a rotten mood. In that case, he'd have to be extra careful. As he stood, however, his outlook on the Malu completely changed when he realised it was Evey who was yelling at him. He smirked, trying not to laugh at her outburst. It was a side he'd never seen of her, as they had yet to have a fight. He strode forward confidently. "I'm cooling off." His words were laced with honey. "Awful hot out, don'cha think?" He was out of the water by the time he had finished the sentence, smiling down at the shorter female.

Evey wiped the anger off her face. It was only Kamin!? THAT LITTLE NUISANCE. Anger fumed again as she spoke "YOU JUMPED INTO THE LAKE AND DIDN'T EVEN SAY HI TO ME!?" She started pacing back and forth as she turned away to laugh. What else could she say to try and sound mean? "I THOUGHT WE WERE FRIENDS AND THEN YOU JUST IGNORE ME?!" She walked away at that, giggling under her breath. She settled herself, facing away from Kamin, under a tree 10 or so paces away. "That'll teach him not to not say hello to me."

Kamin blinked in shock as the yelling continued. He had thought she would calm down when she knew it was only him, but noooo. She got even MORE pissed. He watched her walk away, staring dumbly at her backside as if not understanding what she was doing. It took him a moment to realise he had to go apologize for not saying hello. 'Now wait a minute,' he thought, scrunching his nose, 'I didn't do anything wrong!' Never the less, he knew that argueing with the female would get him absolutely no where in this situation and decided to give in.

Picking his way carefully towards her figure, he spoke quietly and as sweetly as he could. "Evey?" When no reply came, he moved closer. "Evey.. I'm sorry?"

Evey sat motionless and silent for a nother moment as he spoke. She was laughing on the inside but kept her stony expression painted on. She made a "hmph!" noise as she sat there, turning her head away from the direction in which Kamin was approaching.

She wanted ot know how he'd react, but she could barely contain the fact that she was laughing uncontrollably on the inside. She let out a hiccup of a luahg, but hoped he didn't hear. She wanted this game to go on a little longer.

When his only answer was a shift in the opposite direction, Kamin knew something had gone all too wrong. He was dripping wet with the lake's freshwater, and the sun was burning his head. Not very romantic, he muttered to himself. How was he supposed to fix Evey's mood? He carefully picked his way forward, haulting at her side. The heat was almost unbearable, and he desperatley wished to turn tail and jump back in the lake. He knew, however, that first he'd have to mend their friendship.

"Evey?" He moved his paw ontop of hers, planting a rather pathetic innocent look on his face. "Evey, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to not say hello. I just didn't see you is all." He looked at the back side of her head hopefully, almost sure that she would grace him with a glance. Even better, go swimming. The heat was ever present on his mind.

Evey could barely contain the laughter welling inside of her. When he placed his paw upon hers, she hiccupped again, and when he finished talking dhe looked over at him, seeing a most disasterous sad frown upon his face and she rolled over on her back as she started laughing. "I fooled you, Kamin!" She rolled around on the ground, her coat becoming soiled by the dirt. "I'm sorry. I just had to try and trick you!" She continued giggling as she stood up and shook some of the dirt off her coat.

Walking over to the bank of the lake, she peered into the water at her reflection and saw a dirty, dishelved malu looking back. Giving herself a strange look, she looked voer to Kamin. "Well, it's a little uncomfortable to be standing around in the sun like that, isn't it?" At that she hopped into the lake herself and started splashing around, even splashing some of the clear water at Kamin.

Kamin sat there dumbly, watching Evey roll around on the ground in laughter. He didn't understand. She was mad. She /was/ mad. Why was she laughing? Tricked? What does that mean, tricked? She wasn't mad? Oh, how ODD! How terribley odd. He blinked stupidly and watched her make for the lake, shaking his head a few times. He barely noticed how dirty she had become in her fit of laughter, for he was too busy trying to figure out what had just happened. As the cool water splashed on his seeringly hot back, he was shocked to awaken from his state of stupor and stood quickly, tail swishing. He had finally grasped what had just happened, and had to throw a dirty glare at the female in the water. He had been truely worried for a moment there, but little did it matter now. With quick steps, he sprinted towards the water.

It wasn't more than a moment before he was splashing in to the cool liquid, letting it roll over his overheated body. There was surely a burn on his back by now, and his short fur was littered with salty sweat marks. Everything washed away with the lake's slow tide, however, and he was very quick to swim out farther than Evey. Whipping around, he charged at her, colliding with a giant splash of green tinged freshwater. The pair fell into the shallower water, Kamin pinning the highly decorated Maluess to the soft sand. "You," he smirked, "aren't funny."

She was still laughing as he tackled her, and only came back to real life when he started speaking again, his voice tinted with sarcasm. Small water droplets rolled down her face as he pinned her against the warm sand. She squirmed slightly, trying escape from the grasp of the male, but her efforts were useless. She watched him breathe, timing hers with his, snezing slightly to get a piece or algae off her nose. Water dripped quickly off his body and into the water around them and onto her body, she giggled as droplets continued to roll down her sides and tickle at her nerves.

"Well, Kamin, if I'm not funny, then why are you smirking?" She splashed him again with a swipe at the water with her paw. "Obviously I am atleast a little funny." She made a slightly pouty face. "How could you think I'm not funny?" She playfully wiggled some more, desperate to escape.

Kamin smirked more and rolled off her, letting th eswuirmey creature free. he rolled his eyes some, laying on the beachy surface and staring at the sky. It was funny how the lake had a tide, even though there was no ocean behind it to keep it going. He wondered breifley what controled the tides and the currents of the world, but let the thought slip from his mind as he realized how much at home he was there in the sand. It was like being in his home back, gazing at the shapes in the clouds, cool waves crashing on his body. Of course, there was no sea spray, no salty scent, no seaweed floating the the waters. For a moment he grew homesick, casting a sideways glance to the beautiful, drenched female beside him. In an instant, the uneasy feeling was gone, and he was smiling again. "So maybe you are funny. But not when the joke's on me." He winked, letting her know he was only kidding. He was a big boy, he could handle the jokes.

Evey tossed her head, getting wet hair out of her eyes. She looked over at the malu laying beside her, her hair falling in her face again. A sly smiled crept over her face as she spoke again. "But when you're the butt of the joke, it's even better from my point of view." At that she rolled over and stood up, shaking some sand and water from her fur, the rest slowly starting to dry in the sun. It was rare that she went inot the water, feeling it was more of a sacred area than a play toy, and the feeling that was in her now was quite fulfilling. She wasn't sure what caused this though. Was it the warmth of the sun, the coll breeze that blew over her wet coat, the sand, and the water? Or was it partially because of the malu she was experiencing it all with?

Literally shaking these questions from her mind, she looked back over at Kamin. "Well now, what are we to do with little, old, sopping wet you?" She stepped next to him and place a paw on his chest. SHe could feel the sand between her toes and the his breathing, the rhythmic rise and fall of his upperbody pushing on her paw.

"Old?" Kamin's eyes widened as he watched Evey come towards him in shock. He was not old! Far fom it! "Little?" Nor was he little. Neither of these things could be used to rightfully describe the sharky male. "I think you're the little one here." Gentley, he slid out from under her paw and moved to stand to his full height, which was indeed taller than Evey. "Now now, little girl, look who's sopping wet." He playfully nipped at her fur, as it was of average length and held far more water than his insanely short coat. "I think the question is, what are we to do with you?" He smirked and turned tail just as quick as he had finished speaking, heading down the shoreline, spraying water out behind him.
