Had the pick of the roses to himself. He had chosen a rare time that the caretaker had left the shrine, going outside to care for the roses there. Having blue, white, black roses all around one single red one, he carefully carried them in his mouth. He had tried to get all the thorns from the stem that would be in his mouth, but he still had to be careful.
Moving carefully, he started to head out of the shrine, wanting to get out of there before the skittish caretaker returned. He hadn't accounted for another small white and black maluess.

Bianca was nearly full grown; her limbs had become long and strong, but her body still had much filling out to her. She kept her childlike features while remaining dignified in her graceful manner. Her relationship with Vivaldi's roses had become stronger than any other relationship she held close to her. Lately she felt like they ruled her life. She saw less and less of Odyss, her one true friend, aside from Vivaldi and Imogen, both of whom were much older than she.
A fearful emotion took hold of the simplistically colored Malu as she made her way back toward the rose shrine. There was something missing; almost a homesick feeling that she hadn't felt since Vivaldi had given roses away to one of the new mothers. The sorrow didn't interest her, however... only the meaning behind it did.
Bianca sped up her pace, increasing her gait to a dainty trot, hooves clicking lightly against the temple floor. Her eyes set a determined gaze, her peripheral vision keeping every slightly movement in sight. As she continued forward, she caught a larger shape... horns protruding from the forehead of the creature. Blinking slightly, her initial thought of it being Amadeus melted away as the unfamiliar male came into view. She stopped in her tracks, a violent surge of anger running through her body. There were several roses being carried by the Malu's maw, each missing every thorn it had borne.

Vulperomes saw the female approaching, hearing the clip of her hooves first. She stopped and stared at him, looking surprised because apparently she didn't know him. Maybe she was a regular here? He wasn't sure, he hadn't seen her before.
Setting the roses in his maw down, her looked up at her and smiled politely, sitting, "Hello, pretty one. How are you on this fine night?"

Bianca flicked back a single ear, slightly irritated by this male's intrusion, but apparently he didn't see the harm in what he had done. Her heart cried out to the lovely flowers, but she smiled to herself as she saw that not all of the thorns had been removed. If there was thing Bianca could do; it was care for the roses.
"Hi," she said, deciding to stay short with him despite his polite manner. "May I have those back?" Bianca asked, pointing her nose toward the roses.

Vulperomes shook his head apologetically, "I apologize, but I need these roses." His paws gave a sting and his smile turned sheepish. Even though he was a thief, he couldn't escape all the thorns, some had seemed to just seek him out. After that, he really didn't want to give them up.
"I must get them to a maluess that is very special to me." He added, his eyes glazing over as he seemed to go into his mind and picture the malu that he had in mind, the recipient of the gift.

"They aren't yours," Bianca stated plainly, coming closer to him, obviously deadset on retrieving was was rightfully not his. "They belong to the Goddess of Roses... and I know that you did not pray for them, or else I would not feel so protective over my pets."
"There are plenty of other flowers around the temple. Without the Rose Goddess' blessing, these will do you, nor your female any good. Without her approval, they will cause you nothing but trouble."

He watched her approach and protectively placed a paw across them, making it difficult for her if he intended to try and snatch them, "I had the sense to ask for permission, if you want to consider that praying."
He thought about the rest of what she said, "How will they be no good? They seem to be just fine now." He looked at her and drooped his ears a bit, disbelievingly.

She snorted, growing ever more impatient. "I live here in the rose shine with the caretaker, Vivaldi. I have grown up with these roses... they are my family... and I know how they behave," she told him plainly, ears pressing back against her skull. "There is no question as to how they will be disobedient. If roses are wrongly taken without permission from Vivaldi or the Rose Goddess, then there is no blessing in them... there is only a curse."
The black and white female pressed forward, deciding that unless he was willing to pray for forgiveness and permission from her goddess, then she wouldn't let them leave her sight. She caught herself in a moment's time; shocked. Her goddess? She had known for quite some time that there was no attraction in the shadows of the world; but in the light these roses supplied. Had she really begun to denounce her own god. She shuddered.

Seeing her shudder, Vulperomes looked thoughtfull down at the roses. He knew not to anger the gods, only bad would come from that... did he really want roses that could even possibly be cursed? He didn't want to taint anything to do with him and the particular recipient of the roses.
"Tell me what I must do, to get the blessing." He said, bowing his head. He had never given in like this. Being a klepto, he usually didn't care, but now that he had someone else to consider... "Please, I would greatly appreciate it."

Bianca's features softened instantaneously at his words. Her emotions took a sudden shift and she felt better about this situation, as if there had been no sin here. Her feelings of doubt and worry dissipated and she nodded slightly. "Of course," the smaller Maluess agreed willingly, trotting over to his side gracefully. "Thank you," she said to him, a hint of sincerity in her voice as she led him back into the rose shrine.
She would worry about her god later.
