Been experimenting with color and such lately. Some suggestions/critiques?

Tried to be a bit more adventerous with color, going brighter than I normally do, but it's still really safe. xD The stripes on her shirt could've definately been done better. Tried to show a light source [coming from top] but it still needs to be worked on [badly!] the wings were made extremely messy and one-dementional on purpose in this picture. I just couldn't seem to get the hand closest right. /: Had trouble with the shoes too.

I appreciate everyone's comments. And the heads are supposed to be at an angle [to explain the lopsided eyes], but I definately see now that they look lopsided. xD

Colors aren't my strong point, but with the exception of the third drawing, your colors still seem a bit flat. There isn't enough variation between light and dark, and it seems like instead of trying to get a good range of colors, you're just going for lighter and darker variations of the same color. One thing you might want to do is try picking different light sources, since none of your drawings really indicate a strong (or consistent) source of light. You could also try working with colors under different lighting conditions instead of picking the same basic colors for each picture.

Those are all things I need to work on as well. I've found that http://itchstudios.com/psg/art_tut.htm is a really good page that explains all kinds of things about colors and lighting and whatever. If there's a better explanation than this, I haven't found it yet!

Too much style, not enough substance. Lots of lopsided eyes going on.

ooh I rather like the text in that last one, although why that shade of purple? It immediately reminds me of an 8 year old's bedroom. Nice wings though, I love the messy look!

Of the top 3, the third one is definatly the best, or perhaps just the most striking. Nice crisp cheekbones. I'm such a sucker for a cheekbone. mrgreen
