Shop Creation & Simulacrum Discovery*written by Neith*Introduction Gaia was well known throughout the land for the towns of lively hangouts, shops filled with treasures and surprises, the colorful mix of races and people, and the magic in the beautiful scenery underneath blue skies that surrounded the main towns.
But not everywhere a person went was beautiful, or exciting, or even treasured. Like most places, there were shops and areas that were obviously not quite up to the standard of the rest. And in one neighborhood in Durem, shadowed by other shops that presented a much more pleasing or desirable front, there was such a shop.
The faded and flaking paint, if studied for long enough, read 'Through the Looking Glass.' And if one peered through the windows, they could make out what appeared to be mirrors, and old antique jars and lamps. A lot of them, old and worn, dirty and ugly by the challenges of time, the shop used by rats as a barrier from the weather, and even worse, a thick layer of dust covered everything. There was a living space up on the second floor, but from the looks of things, it was no better than the first floor.
No wonder this place was empty and long abandoned.
But it wasn't abandoned anymore. Three women had seen the store not too long before, and after much scraping together of funds, they had managed to buy the shop, mirrors and all.
Emme and Yuu gladly took a mirror each, but found they were unable to clean the surface. The reflection was, at best, blurred and hazy. Neith decided that she'd much rather a beautiful blue vase, and gave it as a present to her adopted daughter, Kia. Yuu soon gave up trying clean it, gave it as a 'present' for her own adopted daughter.
Then, one day, when Emme woke alone in her bed, she noticed something odd about her new mirror. It was reflecting, and clean, the haze and blur had gone from it. She picked it up to peer into it, and in the reflection, saw a young boy that looked a great deal like she did crawling around on the bed that had been empty. When she turned around, he was still there... he'd appeared out of no where, it seemed. He seemed to have her eyes, her hair, even her skin color!
Neith called her only a few hours later. Her daughter Kia had seen a reflection in the vase's surface, of a little girl jumping on Kia's bed. When she had turned around, the girl was still there! The little girl had adopted Kia's blonde hair, her gold hands, and a marking Kia had on her face, but strangely enough, the little girl had also taken on a few details from Kia's boyfriend. According to Kia, there had been a photo of him next to the vase the entire time she had it.
After a very excited few hours babbling on the phone, they came to the conclusion that the two children must have somehow been connected to the odd items, and that the children must have reflected details on Neith's daughter and on Emme.
They were both excited beyond belief, and called Yuu. The mirror she'd taken was blurred and hazy still, according to her daughter Rei... but Emme and Neith decided that it was time to investigate these odd happenings further, and find some good people to help them...

I think it might be a good idea to archive the story here, so it doesn't get to long and hard to manage. Quote:
The story continued... It was decided that when Neith, Emme or Yuu found people who seemed trustworthy, they would allow them to pick a mirror, or one of the other many random items around. The theory was that the person would get a child that would reflect details of the person who owned the object.
After talking to Aurora, Kai and Ray, Emme, Neith and Yuu also decided that there was a lot more to these children than met the eye. There was something else in these children's minds, a ghost of something or someone...
Ray and Kai, the mirror children, seemed to depend on the adults to help them sort out that something more. They both liked the help, and when they talked to one of the guardian-adults, they were able to share their feelings and thoughts more freely. But Aurora, not from a mirror, seemed to want to figure herself out independently, and tended to only rely on herself to sort out this something. She'd gladly talk to one of the other children though.Oct. 5th. It was like every other day. Neith and Yuu, slaving away as they scrubbed and cleaned the upstairs walls, Emme downstairs working on restoration, with only ten minutes an hour for rest upstairs in the kitchen.
The kitchen was now clean and scrubbed, new tiles on the ground, the window clean and new shutters in place. It, and the living room, were so far the only places upstairs that were clean. And downstairs, the front of the store was almost sorted into boxes. Some had been moved into the still messy back room, some in a corner, some still scattered around. The sign was still unreadable, but at least the glass in the front of the store had been cleaned enough to see through.
And the best news of all, more children had emerged! It was proven then, that Emme, Yuu and Neith had stumbled upon something a little more than just a run down antique shop.
But on this day, something else happened. It was just before lunchtime, Yuu had gone to prepare lunch for the hard workers. The children who were upstairs were in the living room, watching The little mermaid with the volume up, Emme was downstairs. And Neith was dealing with a stubbornly dirty wall covered with a hideous wallpaper.
As Neith was scrubbing and swearing at a particularly bad patch of mold on the wallpaper, the wood crumbled beneath her hands. Not just a small hole, when one part of it was gone, a lot of the plaster and wallpaper followed, leaving a black hole in the wall.
"...oops." Neith froze for a second, before withdrawing her hands. She stared at the black hole for a few moments, trying to figure out what to do. Maybe she could glue the wall back, and no one would notice! But she had to see her damage first.
Neith rushed to the window, and pushed it open even wider to let in as much light as possible. Then she picked up a torch, and approached the wall with the beam on high.
A glittering met Neith's eyes. Not bright and sparkly, but more like the type of shine that black glitter would create. A gleam?
She held the torch up higher, and found herself staring at her own reflection. Neith screamed, and then went bright red as her mind caught up with her reaction... it was only a mirror. A black mirror.
It was tugged out, and Neith inspected it. It was like the others, save for an odd shape she'd never seen before on the top. And it had a matching necklace tightly woven around the handle...
After a few seconds of building excitement, she'd found a mirror AND a necklace hidden, so it had to be special, and ... "...EMME! YUU! I FOUND SOMETHING!"
Neith sprinted out of the room to show Emme and Yuu.Oct. 7th They'd spent a day puzzling over the find. Not one of the three could figure it out, it wasn't like the other antiques. Firstly, the necklace seemed to be a little match of the mirror... and it had been wound so tightly, that they'd been afraid it might break if they tried to remove it with too much pressure. Besides, none of them knew much about necklaces themselves... and they'd started to find others stashed around in boxes. Being so little in size, they'd been easily overlooked.
The trio needed help.
So Neith, Yuu and Emme tried to find someone to help them with the new necklace. And they found it, in a woman called Gorachi_Chai. With her help, the necklace was quickly restored, quicker than the mirror, meaning that it'd be ready for sale before the mirror.
It was a strange necklace. It gave the viewer a feeling of being watched, a feeling that really wasn't too helpful in an old store. And it seemed to scare the nicer of the staff. At one point, Neith commented that it reminded her of her vampire lover, beautiful but scary at times, as she tried to hasten her cleaning so that she could return to the second floor. The shop had become a great deal less friendly, now that the mirror and the necklace were sitting in the glass case...[/color]

After a few weeks of peace, and both the mirror and necklace selling successfully, the trio and their antique specialist friends were ready for a rest. There were enough children, children rushing everywhere, Aurora was a teenager, and the new owners of the antiques were still around. Yuu was even pregnant, meaning that she had a lot of worries of her own, being the youngest. ... and Neith's eldest daughter was pregnant... ninja

Feb. 8th
Emme has returned from her winter holiday, spent in her homeworld of Dragons Breath. After such a long time away, she was itching to find out what had gone on while she was gone. So she jumped right into activities around the shop, checking up on the children and their guardians.
Neith, whom had been left on her own to run the shop, asked XBear to join the staff to help finish restoring the shop in order to make it as cozy and inviting as possible for the Simulacrum and their Guardians.
