Kaosu exited the walls of the Soul Society, thinking of ways to excel before starting school. He knew he had decent strength for his rank, but he just couldn't seem to keep up with others. Slowly he paced through the tall grass, feeling the light, breezy sensation along his ankles. He was heading step by step towards a nearby wood, hoping to find some way to somehow make himself better.

Kaosu unsheathed his zanpaku-to with a metallic hiss. He wondered what some shinigami would say if they saw him using his Soul-Cutter for such a menial task. Putting that thought deep in the recesses of his mind, he took his first swing at the strange tree. The made quite the mark on the trunk of the tree, but not anywhere near enough to fell it...

Pulling it like a saw, he eventually freed his sword. Cleaning it off, he readied for the next chop...

This time, hacking at the left side if the tree, Kaosu again hacked at the defenseless timber.

'Hey, this isn't a bad way to get a little stronger.' Kaosu mused. He brought the blade to his nose and sniffed it. Some deep recess in his mind said, "It's pine."

He didn't quite remember what pine was, but it apparently smelled like it...
