It was apparent of the time of day as the sun was barely peaking out over the horizon. Causing the late afternoon sky in pigments of different colors. One could see if they where lounging in the gardens and that's exactly what these two where doing.
Sighing, Kyo reached over, scratching his back against the ivory colored base of the fountain, and pulled out the book he had brought along with him and Oak. The book was brown in pigment with a green tint to the pages. On the cover of the book was an etched tree and in the corners a bronze/brass metal, Protecting them from damage.
Resting the book on his stretched out crossed legs. Kyo's eyes shifted over to Oak, who was playing amongst the weeds just bellow the branches of a large tree.
A smile grew on the elf’s face.
Placing a hand on the cover of the book. Kyo's mind went blank all but for the memory of where he had obtained the book. From the library in this building and sooner or later it would need to be returned.
Lifting the cover of the book, the elf began to scan through the many pages.

It was getting darker out now, and that meant Zah was more active. Since Zah was active, that meant the hurt butterfly was in for a whole heap of trouble. Normally, she would have kicked Zah out to do whatever he wanted...but she was still leery on what Philos might do so...she opted to go with the energetic, growing, and annoyingly tall Drow child.
Zasalamel was always a good kid; he never strayed far from her (in fact, he always seemed to walk behind her, now...He said it was the 'right thing'), he never spoke back to her, and he did as he was told; so really, Neveah couldn't use anything against him if he wanted to do something, and whatever he wanted to do tended to be a reality.
Right now, he'd told Neveah he just wanted to get out of the house, so our of the house they went. He didn't have a place in mind, so Neveah picked the headquarters; there was probably some surface bug in the gardens to keep him entertained for hours, anyway. So, to the gardens they went!
It didn't take long for the butterfly, who was now minus her wings save for four patches of various sized splinters that contained disjointed reminants of the beautiful ptterns her wings once had, wandered her way over to him. Zasalamel, on the other hand...had not noticed the elf. He was busy looking around for something new to poke and prod at.
"Am I interrupting anything?"

Kyo looked up from his book with tired eyes. The person looked familiar, but the shape wasn't right. Something was missing from her. "Neveah?" The elf's eyes squinted and he rubbed at them. "Oh no your not interrupting anything. I just thought Oak would like to spend some time out here." Kyo nodded over to the direction of the tree boy playing amongst the tall weeds.
Oak looked up from amongst the weeds. Hearing the sound of his name. A soft giggle lifted into the night air. accompanying the sounds of the chirping crickets.
“What are you guys doing out so lat…e..” It finally donned upon the elf. The drow child was present, something seemed a little odd at first.
“Oh..” Kyo smiled a little uneasy.

"Oh good! You still recognized me!" Neveah seemed honestly enthusiastic. Her wings were a defining part of herself for her entire life, and now that they were gone, she'd hoped that people would vaguely recognize her. "But good, I'm glad I'm not interrupting...Oak?" She asked curiously, looking over to the weeds where the elf was motioning. Oh, there was a little boy there! "He grew, congrats!" The broken butterfly had turned back to him now, slowly and steadily wrapping her arms over her stomach.
"I came out because the Drow-brat wanted to go play somewhere...it is getting darker out after all, he's more comfortable." She shrugged a bit, overlooking his unease for the time being; especially since Zasalamel was now standing beside her.
The Guardian and Charge were the same height, both reaching 5'7". Neveah seemed a little miffed when he went to stand beside her, but he didn't notice. Instead, he was looking over at the little boy in the weeds. Boy! Boything! He glanced down at Kyo, raising one hand in a slight wave before he bowed and left, moving over to the weeds and the infant.
"Huhlo Wahnd Baybeeh!" He said with his accent-heavy voice and butchered attempt at english. Zasalamel was sitting crouched on his heels near the boy, his arms resting on his knees. "Steeck baybeeh." Was his idly comment after a moment of looking at him, and his finger raised to point at the smaller boy's branches. "W'th....uhh....s'mahl rund grehn tings'..."
"Leaves." Neveah said absently, having heard him.
"Leevesh." Zah corrected with a proud smile.

"Why wouldn't I recognize you? I noticed your wings are gone, would you care to share what happened?" The elf folded the book and left it resting against his legs. Leaning back against the ivory colored fountain. Kyo's eyes moved slowly over to Oak and Zah, making sure the two where ok.
Oak looked up from his seat amongst the plants and smiled at the dark toned boy. Reaching up with a bark and green veined arm and hand, the little tree baby was trying to grasp onto the boy's white hair. The most intriguing color and object in view.

Neveah just shrugged when he asked his first question; of course, the shrug brought a hiss of pain to her lips, so she ceased the movement at once. As for telling him what happened...she seemed hesitant. Slowly, she shifted her weight from one foot to the other. "...Long story short, My now Ex-Boss hit Zasalamel, I fought back for him, my wings got bent and torn in the scuffle after that....and now they have to get removed. Its too big of a job to do it all at once, so I still have these splinters of wings." She said quickly, before turning around to let him see the four groups of wing splinters.
When Oak reached out for Zah, Zah reached out for Oak. He was too busy being intrigued by Oak's branches and leaves to really care about what the kid was going to do with his hair - By the way, what was with kids and his hair? His brothers pulled his hair, Taylor pulled his hair...why his hair? Poor Hair.
Carefully, he poked a bit at one of the closest leaves.

"Oh I'm sorry to hear about that." Kyo muttered, eyeing the left over splinters. Wincing at the thought of pain that Neveah was going through. "I hope things get better for you." The elf nodded. Not even able to imagine the pain the butterfly woman was going through.
Oak latched onto a patch of Zah's hair and pulled. Feeling the texture of the hair between his fingers. The baby laughed and giggled, but that suddenly all stopped as the dark skinned boy touched the leaves on top of his hair. Oak's small body went rigid and still from a sense of shock. The branches on top of his head where some what sensitive to the touch... but the feeling didn't stay for long. Oak looked up at Zah and yet pulled again at his white hair.

"Its...okay. Small price to pay, I suppose." Neveah said it, but she wasn't sure if she truely meant it. She loved Zah and all, but her wings were a part of her, and they were now lost. Idly, she wondered what she would look like as a butterfly now...and she desided to try and shift into one again when she got home.
Zah let out a cry when his hair was pulled; he wasn't paying attention, so it caught him off guard. He almost fell onto the little boy too; he managed to throw his hands down on either side of Oak to stop himself from flattening the kid. He hadn't noticed that Oak went rigid before...he was too busy swearing repeatedly in Undercommon...and out loud, too. When his hair was pulled a second time, he balanced his weight on one hand, raising the other to touch one of Oak's little hands, trying to persuade the kid to let go.
"Jugare lotha uss, qualla vrine'winith nin..." Zah pleaded with the kid, unaware that he'd slipped back into undercommon.

"Hmm..." Kyo tapped at his chin, somewhat baffled. "Could they grow back?" The elf stared back up at the woman.
Oak released his grip on the boy's hair and stared up at the Zah. Somewhat confused at the language he was speaking. Up until now the only language he had heard was common and what little Elvin Kyo spoke around the house. Tilting his head to the side a small grin grew on his face as the confusion began to set aside. Oak reached out and latched onto the Zah's arm.

Neveah thought about Kyo's question for a moment, then slowly shrugged; it hurt, but she was careful about it this time. " I've never known butterflies who've lost their wings before. I imagine they don't though..." She sighed a bit. Well, if she was wrong they'd find out, wouldn't they?
Zasalamel looked every ounce relieved. The boy let go of his hair! Naturally, he was quick to jerk his head back, to put his hair out of range of grabby baby hands. He was about to thank the kid for letting go, but instead he found his arm captured.
"Uhm...Wheye?" He asked curiously, somehow remembering to speak english. He sat back on his butt in the weeds, using his free hand to pull the little one towards him and onto his lap. Oh well, at least the kid wasn't playing with his hair.

"A bagloo gabmu doo" Oak began to rambled on and on... and on. Over and over... and over again. Senseless things pouring out of his mouth as he was seated onto Zah's lap. Reaching forward Oak latched onto a dandelion and gave it a good yank, pulling it and breaking it off at it's lower stem and brought the plant up to his mouth and began to chew on it's yellow petals.
"Hmm..." Kyo thought long and hard. "I don't know if she would be willing to help you, but something seems a little odd in the presence of Ianna and Matilda. Maybe they could refer you to some one to help you... that's if your wings are that important to you?" The elf nodded.

Poor Zasalamel stared at Oak with wide purple eyes, caught between utter confusion and trying his absolute hardest to understand Oak. Was the younger boy even speaking english? Did he have a language of his own, too? His twin brothers spoke...sort of. But their noises and attempt at words were nowhere near what Oak was saying now. Both were lost on him, but one he was used to. He startled a bit when Oak went and started to eat the dandelion, but instead of trying to take it out of the baby's mouth, he twisted his torso towards the adults a bit.
"Uhm...Baybeeh eeteng weehd!" He said, both confused and concerned. Zasalamel knew Dandelions were weeds...Neveah kept telling him so...but then again, she also told Zah he grew like a weed. Maybe Oak was eating something important! That would be bad!
"No...I think I'll kep them off. I'm spending a lot of money on the surgery, and getting them regrown would cost a lot too. I...don't exactly have money to spare right now." Neveah admitted grudgingly, her irritation clear in her voice. It as the voice of a woman with three kids and a house...but no money. Of course, Zah's interruption was a good thing to clear her mind, and the broken butterfly turned her attention towards her tall charge. "Eating weeds...?" She parrotted, looking back at Kyo in confusion. Oak ate plants? Wasn't he a plant himself?

Kyo looked at the two some what confused. Then he tilted his body to the side so that Oak was in his line of sight. "Oak... eating weeds. It's ok. I'm sure he asked the plant before he ate it." The elf shrugged. Oak did ask first right? Who would know what he was saying anyways with that confusing baby talk.
"I've seen him do it before. It's all he ever eats are plants and veggies. He won't even touch any meat, his nose crunches up when ever he smell it being cooked." Kyo sighed.
Oak sudden stopped chewing on the weed. Feeling a little insecure with everyone watching him. Oak turned his head and leaned back to gaze back up at his guardian, then he looked over to the bug lady, and then back up to Zasalamel. A small smile grew on his face and nibbled on the plant fibers some more.
