Kohana had not expected his son to come out of his basket looking so much like his brother had as a foal. More to the point, the wings on the colt's back had been entirely unexpected. A surprise. A welcome one, really, for he could not help but adore the bright, cheerful youngling who insisted on showing him every bit of progress he made with his flying lessons, but a surprise all the same. One that he was not sure that he was prepared to deal with. Amoena, his other foal, was a beautiful little filly, one who he had only seen from afar. It tore at him to know that he was following in his father's footsteps, so he was making efforts to rectify the situation.

Kwahu Lesharo bounced excitedly along the path ahead of his father, searching right and left for his uncle. Uncle Safi was his hero. He spent more time with him than both of his parents combined and he had wings. The foal fluttered his wings, practicing things that he had learned by watching the adult winged Soquili, and by listening to his words. Ever, the nice mare that he had played tag with, had been a little help with his flying lessons as well (and she couldn't fly herself, so why weren't mama and dad helping?). The blue colt swiveled his ears around to catch the sound of his uncle's voice.

Swivelling an ear slightly, Safi smiled as he picked up on the sound of energetic hoofbeats. That would be Kwahu, alright; that foal had energy to burn! But then, that was the way it was supposed to be when you were a foal. He chuckled slightly, remembering back in the day when he himself had been a foal...back when things had ben simpler.

He missed those days...but now that he had his nephew around, it was as though he'd never grown up!

Well, enough of this waiting. "Sounds like you're ready and raring to go with your flight lessons today, Kwahu; well, that's great, since I was thinking that we'd-"

Bursting out onto the path in front of Kwahu, Safi's grin faltered and he found himself trailing off as he realized that he was face-to-face not only only with his nephew...but with his brother.

While prepared to unwind at the behest of his child, Kohana stiffened when he saw Safi's reaction to him. Well. It was not an entirely undeserved one, really. Unfortunately, that did nothing to help his mood. "Hello, Safi. Kwahu wanted me to come to see you with him." Apparently that particular meeting was incredibly important to the foal, and apparently he had also forgotten to inform the stallion of his scheme. How typical. All energy, no forethought. Woodenly, the Soquili managed a grin for the sake of his son.

"Uncle Safi!" The little colt bounced over to his uncle, all smiles and happy, bubbly cheer. He nuzzled the much larger winged Soquili, encouraging him to speak again. He was determined to have both his father and his favorite (read: only) uncle around. If they were friendly, so much the better. If not, he would at least enjoy the opportunity to see them. It was not often that he got to spend time with his daddy, and he liked to fly. Loved to fly. Sucked terribly at flying. It was only to be expected, considering how short a period he had spent outside of his basket.

Obviously he had missed the memo that made today's lesson a family get-together. Well, that wasn't so much of an issue, but it WAS a shock. How long had it been since he had spoken to his brother? And if memory served, that meeting had been less than pleasant...

Well, he'd managed to survive worse lately.

Smiling down at Kwahu, he returned the nuzzle cheerfully. "Heya Nephew! You forgot to tell me you were bringing your dad with you today; if I'd have known that, I would have tried to track down a pair of wings for him! Instead, I guess that he'll just have to be content with you showing off your stuff, but you're getting to be so talented that I'm sure he can't help but be amazed."

Having gotten his composure back, Safi looked up from the foal to give his brother what he hoped was a suitably natural smile. "And it's good to see you again, Ko." And oddly enough, he meant it. For starters, Kohana wasn't giving him "That Look"...at least, not yet.
