I just looked through all my former PMs and noticed two I almost totally forgot about. I won't mention the name, but here it is. I suppose it was a response to my thread some thoughts about morality, tolerance is the key!?Her first PM (I didn't know that person before and she never posted in my thread):
"i just wanted to say..no offense..but if u say taht u wur once a christian and are now proud of not being one, u wur never a christian. sorry to bust your bubble, but after truly experiencing God's love, you will never go back..i no from experience..lol.. "My response to it:
I never was a Christian and probably will never be. I have personal reasons for that. I do like the Christian faith and find it fascinating what is written in the Bible, but I don't think that I would want to go to church and get baptized.
And also, if it would have been true what you said about me, I don't think, that it's the same for every person. Fine, it worked for you, you are a happy Christian, living with your faith and all seems wonderful for you. But does it apply to everyone? NO!!! Don't think, that everyone is the way you are because this is very unlikely and unrealistic. Maybe I can find pleasure and peace in Buddhism, maybe in Judaism, maybe in Islam, maybe in Hinduism, maybe in Wicca, maybe even in ATHEISM whatever, it's MY choice and you will never know because you can't read my mind. And no, I don't feel offended, I just don't like being told or forced into a belief I DO NOT believe in.
Thank you. Her response:
but i do no that no one, after really seeing the love of God, never turned their back on him..there are people that thought they wur christians, but really werent that went back..being saved doesnt make u a christian..a chistian is Christ-like...there is a difference.. What do you think about it? sweatdrop

this is the southern baptist thing about "once saved always saved".
they believe that if youre really saved you can do what you want and still go to heaven because after all, youre saved.
but then if you get caught red handed in a serious sin they just say 'well you were never saved, never really christian anyway"...which keeps their doctrine intact while leaving the pooor sinner with very little comfort or hope imho

It is apparent that I am a great counter example to the statement that a true christian will never fall away.

Well, I don't know about you guys, but I started wondering how you KNOW that you're saved? Does God send you a message or a prophet? Do you feel like a new person? Do you experience near death situations? Do you become omniscient? Or do you just KNOW that you are saved? If you're once saved, does it mean you can do any sin, but still go to heaven or is that not possible because now you are prefect and CAN'T even commit a sin if you WANTED to!? Holy ... (I won't start swearing or taking the Lord's name in vain...

(I won't start swearing or taking the Lord's name in vain... How does one know they are saved? They don't, unless they are perfect, which would mean they are God, as in the Christian faith, the only "thing" that is perfect, is God. As to being saved, from what I gather from other Christians, it's more than a belief in Christianity, it's a relationship with God. They are still going to commit sins, as they are not perfect, however, they are going to confess them and try harder not do them the next time. As to being saved, I experienced it as a feeling of goodness inside of me; however, that feeling didn't last more than 4 yrs. I think that most people will attribute the "knowledge" (if you will), of being saved is a feeling of goodness inside oneself. However, their are probably others who will claim that they just konw. But as I said before, it is impossible to know if you are truly saved.

Have you ever seen the movie "Saved" with Mandy Moore? It's pretty funny, she plays a religious brat. Well anyways, I'm still sceptical about the holy salvation and so on, but well, if you believe in it, your thing. Uh, they have new emoticons! rofl pirate talk2hand Yay! That was kinda random, huh? lol

Don't mean to sound rude or forcing either, but I agree with the girl who PMed you. Sure some Christians feel betrayed when they lose that wonderful feeling, and belive me, in the situation I am in, I lose it all the time, but if you lose that feeling of love and the joy of God, it's you not God. God gives it, but things you may not even notice in life may be dragging you away from reach. That's sounds harsh, but it's not. God's hand is always there and he'll always help you find it, but you need to be more mindful of what's happening. God's joy is 365 1/4 days, 24 hours, all the time.

Well, this is your opinion and I respect it. I just found it kinda rude that she first of all assumed I was a Christian even though I never said that anywhere and then that she started babbling more, even though I told her, that I'm not Christian and don't intend to become one.

Like I said, I don't think people can truly know (as they are not omniscient, omnipotent, or anything of the like), but, I'm no longer a christian, I'll stick with my Deism/Buddhism for now.

It is pretty funny, indeed. It just shows in an exaggerated way the hypocrisies of oh so religious people.

you know...reading through this, I've always wonder what goes through these religious people's heads. I mean no offence to anyone, but how can anyone know if God (if that's his/her name) loves them? And if you go by the Bible (the holy book of Christanity ONLY), God loves everyone at all times, even the sinners. Even the non-belivers, like me.

Here's somthing to think about. We probably all know the story off how Jesus((if he existed)) died on the cross to save everyone. now let's see here. He died to save everyone, regardless or not if they believed in him or not. Which means we're all saved((theoretically)) so why worry about it? besides. we don't know what happens to our souls/spirit after we die so, once again, why worry about it?

I don't. That's just a play on words. Jesus is said to have died on the cross to free us of sin. However, the Christian sense of the word save is to believe in Jesus and accept him into one's life. So, while our sins may be removed by Jesus, one must accept him into one's life in order to be considered "saved", as per the Christian term.
