The day was fading quickly, and the sky was a beautiful mix of pinks, purples and blues. There were few scattered trees, rocks and shrubs about, but beneath one particularly small bush was a little white ball of fur. Cheshi was lost and afraid, which had lead her to the deicision that it would be best to hide. Mama couldn't be found, the one who'd always made her feel safe and happy. She was as close to the middle of the bush as comfort would allow and almost too upset to do anything but cover her eyes. There were a few peeks out at the distance through her paws and the leaves, but they were quickly blocked out once again.
"What am I going to do?" she whined quietly.

Sungura was nearly as opposite the young Cheshi as possible. He was similar in age to Cheshi, but even by appearance the two had quite a bit of differences. Where Cheshi was white, the young male was black. Where Cheshi hid in fear, the young male watched and grinned boldly to himself. Clearly this developing relationship between the two would be something incredibly amusing to watch.
Creeping up and around the bush, the young male continued to grin. Sungura was named after his own species, but much preferred to act like the ferocious lions in their prides or the hyenas in their packs. Emitting a wild laughter, which sounded odd on such a small animal, the male suddenly pounced, landing on the white ball of fluff with a grin.

Cheshi was facing the wrong way to actually see her stalker, but luckily being a hare and being paranoid helped in warding off strange attackers. Unfortunately, it was balanced out by her lack of skill in such a field that caused her to merely attempt to duck. Such attempts took her no where, since she was always huddled as small and close to the ground as she could be.
She squeaked loudly, and squirmed against the pouncer. This was it! If she had a good deal of life to recall, she was certain she'd go through a flashback. In a panic, she squirmed more violently in an attempt to escape.

Sungura landed with a thud with the majority of his body off to the side of the femme, front paws resting on Cheshi's back oddly. He had been thrown from his target as she curled into a tight ball. With an uncomfortable position, the excitable young rabbit jumped back onto his feet and beamed proudly. "I bet I scared y', didn't I!?" His small voice sounded so confident in what he was saying, as though it had been his plan all along to frighten the young rabbit.
Quickly after he spoke, however, the male noticed the extent of how much he frightened the other. She was squirming about and trying to quickly escape his company. Suddenly, the male had a frown on his face and tried to apologise, "W-wait! I didn't mean to scare you that badly! I-I..." He played with his large feet as he spoke, making large circles in the dirt, "...I just wanted a friend!" He spat the words as though it would make him, a young male, seem weak.

(( Sorry for the delay, exams and all. I wasn't really watching this either x3; ))
Cheshi soon found that she was struggling much harder than necessary, and that was only causing more panic. She shivered and covered her eyes as the strange black rabbit hopped back and proudly asked if he'd managed to scare her. If she could blush, she most certainly would have as she peeked out from beneath her paws. If she wasn't too afraid to be angry, she might have try to tell him off. All she could do was stare with wide, pink eyes.
The little rabbit inched backwards cautiously, making sure there was a small distance between her and her attacker even as he tried to right what had happened. Cheshi was still reluctant to take her paws from infront of her eyes.
"W-w-who are y-you?" she squeaked shyly, still guarding her face.

Sungura looked over young Cheshi once again as she behaved rather nervously because of him. He felt silly for admitting why he had pounced her, but hoped that perhaps it would be accepted as an apology and the two would be able to get to know one another better. Hopping around in order to busy his mind as he awaited a response, the young male laughed a bit. "You're all white! Probably stick out in the grasses!" Sungura spoke his thoughts quickly, not even thinking that his own fur would stick out much more boldly.
As Sungura noticed Cheshi slowly inching away, he paused and then looked up. Twisting up his face in a bothered manner, the male suddenly looked upset. "Awww. Come on! I didn't mean to scare you!" Though the two had known one another for a short amount of time, it would have been clear by now that Sungura had little skills with others as well as a very brash, rude and abnoxious personality.
Leaning forward suddenly, the male grabbed ahold of Cheshi's paws and grinned, "I'm Sungura! I'm a lone rabbit, bent on becoming strong as a lion!" He spoke loudly and clearly, as though he had practiced this sentence quite some time, "What can I call you?"

Cheshi watched the strange black bunny examine her quite carefully from beneath her paws, ever reluctant to full reveal her face. It gave her some comfort, to feel she was in control of what she saw and to know she could easily hide her eyes if she wanted to. She squeaked nervously when Sungura commented on her fur color, well aware of it and the dangers it presented to her. Her mother had made sure she knew that before.. before..
Her throughts were interupted by his plea to understand his true intentions. Part of her new he was just playing, but she still didn't find it very fun! With another squeak she covered her eyes with her paws, just in time to have them snatched away from her- earning Sungura a shrill squeak of fear.
Cheshi almost forgot she had started the introductions by asking who he was and had a short staring contest with him before finally answering his question in a hushed voice, "I'm Cheshi."

Sungura did not laugh the moment Cheshi squeeked out. In fact, his two, large ears flopped down rather sadly. Despite his attempts to explain himself, the young rabbit was still incredibly frightened. Having been raised completely on his own, Sungura was unsure as to why the female was so scared. Being on your own forced the dark colored rabbit to be aware of his surroundings, act quickly and fake courage when needed. He had no time to become frightened, no matter how scary a situation might appear.
Having turned away in order to give Cheshi her space, Sungura was rather pleased when he heard the female's quiet response. His ears perked upwards and he turned quickly to look over Cheshi, as though he was not quite certain it had been her who responded. "Cheshi, eh?" He spoke, his mood having instantly lightened up. "That's a pretty name! Does it mean anythiiinnngg?"

Cheshi looked almost like she was about to cry as Sungura stood there holding onto her paws. She couldn't hide her face anymore without her paws, and she just didn't want to try to force them away again. She knew Sungura meant no harm, she knew he was just being friendly, and though she quivered it was enough to give him the small amount of trust it took to let him keep her paws for the moment. She couldn't hide the relief she felt when he suddenly released her paws and turned away.
When he turned back around, she was backed up a bit and huddled up again, though her paws were not back over her eyes. She nodded just noticably when he complimented her name and asked if it had a meaning. It was another thing her mother had told her, and she always found it (ironically) funny.
"It means funny," she squeaked, "W-what does your name mean?"

Sungura, being the absent minded hare that he was, did not notice the saddened expression on Cheshi's face as he frightened the daylights from her. He had meant no harm by grabbing her paws and expected her to understand that for some reason or another. It was when he turned around and noticed that she still appeared frightened, that he begun to worry slightly. What was it about him that seemed so scarey to her? Sungura was a young hare, roughly the same size, same age..
As Cheshi answered in her typical quiet tone, Sungura stood and listened. The answer to his question had the male suddenly grinning from ear to ear before he fell, landing on his backside. A loud laughter erupted from the rabbit's mouth as he giggled to himself and everyone around, "Funny? Goodness! Your parents certainly had a sense of humor when they named you! I mean.. You're so quiet and.. girly! Not so funny at-" The male paused as he suddenly realised how rude what he was saying might have sounded. Sitting upright, he began to make circles in the dirt again. "I didn't mean that.. I mean.. it's just kind of weird that your name means funny...."
Looking away before answering, the male whispered, "..mine means hare."

Cheshi watched as Sungura suddenly grinned and actually fell over as he started laughing about her name. Her ears drooped and she hid her eyes again. Now not only had the other bunny attacked her but he'd also made fun of her. She struggled to cease her trembling as she continued to hide from his laughter. It was not something she'd had much exposure to, but once was enough to tell her it wasn't very nice to be laughed at like that. Of course, she was overreacting a bit to it.
"Just go away!" she squeaked when he tried to apologize, and answered her question in return. There was nothing strange about his name, she couldn't even have tried to return the laughing if she wanted to. If he was going to be so mean, why did he have to stay?

Sungura, being a young male as he was, did not think twice about anything that he said. It was only when he heard the female's squeaking voice that he wondered if he had possibly gone too far? Here he was meeting another hare for the first time during his life and all he could do what put her down? With a faint frown, the male scratched at the back of his head and tried to think of more he might be able to say to make the female feel a bit better. By her reaction to his pseudo-apology, he had guessed she didn't believe him. What reason did she have to?
When Cheshi was bothered enough to yell for Sungura to leave, the male paused in his tracks. He had certainly hit a nerve and a nerve he wouldn't have hit had he thought about it previously. With a sigh, he looked away and continued to speak in a low voice, "...I guess I should leave.. I didn't mean to-to upset you.." His ears were lowered now and although he felt foolish, he couldn't bring himself to raise them.
Being the persistant hare that he was, however, he tried to continue conversation before leaving, "I just wanted to make a new friend.. and, well, I don't really have any.. and I don't really know what to say around you.." Had Cheshi been able to see his cheeks, she would have noticed a faint blush.

Cheshi continued to hide. She felt bad, her feelings had been hurt by the strange dark hare and she couldn't help but feel a little twinge of guilt over her own reaction to it all. If he couldn't be nice, why should she? The hurt tone of voice Sungura used to respond to her cry to make him go away made her peek out from under a paw.
"T-then you should be nicer!" she squeaked, glancing over at him with one pink eye. She put the paw back down when he announced he'd only wanted to make a friend. He was trying so hard, and she could see that, but he was so scary at the same time.
"B-b-but-" she hesitated, peeking back out finally. She didn't have any friends, and as scary as he was she did not want to turn away a friend. But she also didn't want to come out from hiding again. Instead, she just watched him.

As Cheshi still squeeked out towards him, Sungura's ears remained lowered. Something about the young female reminded him so much of her own mother. When he was younger, he remembered her constantly scolding him for nearly everything he did. Perhaps that was why he often acted against her wishes?
Preparing to leave in the most saddened, dramatic manner possible, the male glanced back in time to hear the female stutter. It sounded as though she might have been reconsidering her previous statement. Maybe Sungura would finally make a friend!
"I can be nicer!" He squeeked, his voice showing a clear amount of excitement. Bounding towards Cheshi, he offered her an adorable hug.

Cheshi kept her frightened pink eyes on Sungura, she could almost see that he intended to leave and imagined that it would be quite loud and frightening- she didn't expect the quiet but still frightening response she got. When he declared that he could be nicer and came right over to show it, Cheshi gave a squeak-like yelp and tensed at first.
So many surprises today!
With a small sigh, she managed to calm down enough to return the hug and found herself clinging rather tightly to her new friend.
(( End? -^^- ))
