Shadows slid rapidly across a mud brown back as Meskeet darted nervously past trees. Winter winds jeered above threatening to bring the cold closer and closer each day. Cold and wet that sunk deeper than skin for Meskeet.
A deep burning passion had captivated the female for a majority of her life. A driving emotion that at times was all she had. The idea that she would, someday, be able to kill the mother that had abandonned her to die in the early year snow. The white powder covered everything, and sought out mistakes with more vigor than any other possible victim.
The fact that she herself was now splashing through freezing stream water with a young pup swaying from her mouth bit her mind as sharply as the weak ice clawing at her feet. She was, in a way, her mother.
Were the reasons even so different? The results atleast would be. Unlike Meskeet who had been left, attacked, run off, and clawed to the path of life she now trod this blue pup was getting a favor.
Blue, the color overwhelmed the little girl. She would be far better off dying in the cold then trying to survive in the Black Merchant Pack. Meskeet was saving her the troubles of even trying.
Gazing at all available holes Meskeet stepped lightly on the moist ground. Which was better? A hole or the base of a tree?
A hole. She herself had been rescued from a simple spot on the ground.

She wriggled in Meskeet's mouth. Whimpering, she could see now, just being weened form her mother's milk. But it was so cold out here now she wanted to snuggle up to her mommy again and just lay their content. But it seemed the dark brown wolfess had other plans.
She couldn't speak at all, the young blue pup only knew one word, mommy, though she used it in frequently because it was still hard to pronounce in her little mouth. She wriggled again and whimpered, trying to tell her mother to lay her down and snuggle with her. She loved her mother, where were they going now?

He had known something was up with Arguin when the blue bafoon return with a son, but there had to be more, so Daemon was searching out that brown female he had caught the scent of upon his idiot brother. She was around her somewhere, her and another thing. But where? It was colder now, pups had to be protected, Daemon had no family of his own. He felt that it was his job to make sure any of Arguin's pups that were going to be abandoned, were cared for.
"I know your out here," he said sternly, voice cast to the wind carrying it through the trees, he was close now, could see movement up ahead. The same female that his brother has tried to help kill him with. Something in her mouth, brighter against the forests greens and browns.
"Stop, just stop this..."

Feeling her only daughter in her mouth Meskeet's mind attempted it's usual click into an emotionless state. The truth was if she'd been more like her old self, more like Phantom, she would have simply eaten the pup.
But even she couldn't bring herself to that. Not yet. It was the most peculiar feeling in the world. Pups sleeping against her. Dorian she had begun to become accustom too. But the girl? The girl just couldn't stay. And all the things the blue pup did just made Meskeet all the more desperate.
She was a monster, not a mother. Things couldn't change now.
Daemon was easy to pick up on. His intentions bothered her just as much as what she was doing. But there were few other options. And Dorian didn't need siblings, they would only get in his way.
"Back off fool. This is none of your business."
A mouth full of pup did little for actual talking. Communicating without speaking was a far easier thing currently.
Dashing until she reached a rocky ledge Meskeet stopped hastily and glanced down the almost steep slope. Perhaps she would do well to cast the pup off here? Straight down. That would surely do it.
Rounding on the only option out Meskeet placed the pup between her front feet and snarled at Arguin's approaching brother.

Daemon chased after Meskeet, seemingly blind eyes watching her approach a ledge. She couldn't do that, she just couldn't. He snarled the fur on the back of his neck standing on end. "It is my business when my brother creates problems like these," his eyes glanced down at the bundle of fur by Meskeet's paws now, watched her snarl, the poor child.
She was blue like her father, but had brown on her too. That...that was his niece, and she was trying to kill her. He took another step forward, refusing to back down.
She was whimpering now, the ground was cold, she was shaking, she curled up against Meskeet's forelegs and nuzzled them, she didn't want to be on the cold ground, she didn't like it, "M-m-mommy..." she cried, saying the word giving her trouble.
Daemon looked on horrified, the poor child, "You would even kill you flesh and blood? Why? Don't kill her please... Don't.Kill.Her. If...if you don't want her, let me take her..." he bit his tongue, why was he trying to make a bargin with this she wolf anyway?
"I'll even raise her to not know Arguin is her father, I know he is, but she won't know, I'll even raise her to hate him if you want, just don't kill her..."

Meskeet growled low in her throat and crouched down above the pup. Whether she intended to protect her neck or provide some warmth for the blue form couldn't be decided.
"That's right. Your brother's keeper. Excuse me for forgetting." She sneered with narrow eyes.
Abandonning one had been easy. She'd done it without ever looking back. Abandonning a second one wasn't supposed to be any different. And so far it was.
"I would. I would kill her. Be grateful she's lived this long. She has no purpose and no hope in this world. What would I care if she hated Arguin or not? He wouldn't have wanted her any more than I do. Less even if it's possible. You?" She coughed in disbelief.
"You couldn't even keep Arguin out of trouble. This entire thing is his falt you know. Think I'd planned on pups? I didn't get much of a say in the matter. But now I do and I can't for the life of me think of a reason why I'd ever give up now and just give this pup to you."

The blue pup whined and whimpered and shook and curled up. She didn't like this, not at all, this was scary, her mommy was saying something, someone else was here too. "Mommy..." she said softly whining trying to curled against her tighter.
Daemon growled and took another step forward, "SO what if I'm his keeper, you falling to his demands shows your own weakness, you will give her to me, you WILL...or else you shall tumble over the side of this thing with her. Even if I must bring you down there myself..." he growled, eyes narrowing at her.
She was playing games.
He would play some too.
"What is her name? If you even had the heart to name her..." he took another step forward, "Give. Her. To. Me."

Snarling Meskeet held her ground. As her hackles rose higher her lip curled farther upwards and she snapped at him a few times. The idea of her being attacked by him. She already had one scar from the first time she'd met him.
Dorian was back on the packlands. Back with Malady and Alianne. He was perfectly safe. In reality she would be too. She had more to fight with than Daemon.
But he wouldn't back off, and she knew it. "What do you want with Katana? We both know it'll be better to rid the world of her now before she gets a chance to begin to understand things."
In an instant Meskeet snapped the pup up in her mouth and stood carefully at the edge. "Don't try me. Back off now while you still have the chance."

Daemon looked down at the blue bundle of fur, Katana was her name? Where had he heard that before...Daemon couldn't remember, but he immediately took another step forward once Meskeet snapped up the pup again.
"Don't try me? I would warn you not to play games with me..." he narrowed his eyes, took another step, "Do you think I wouldn't hurl us all over the side? Can you land on your feet like a mountain lion Meskeet? Because unless you hand her over, we'll have to find out..."
"Give.Her.To.Me. Now." he growled, tail not moving, he would be true to his word, he just wanted to save the child.
Soon enough the child was his, his niece, and he would raise her as if his own. She'd be safe from the she wolf, she'd be safe within Outriders bounds.
