So, yesterday my mother said that gay marriage should be outlawed not only because it's "against the Bible" but because ALL GAY MEN RAPE LITTLE BOYS.

An excerpt from our conversation:

mom: "I mean, some gays might get married and buy a house together.."
me: "Exactly, and how is that hurting you?"
mom: "It's not hurting me, but it's hurting the poor little children that live next door!"

Discuss. Opinions. Etc. stare

(Personally, this infuriated me and made me awfully glad she thinks I'm straight. -__-)

Wow, no offense but your mom needs to be b***h slapped. sweatdrop

People really need to open their ******** eyes. This makes me so angry.. that people think these things. We're just like everyone else. We love, we cry, we make mistakes.. Not all of us want to rape little children. We have morals even if we dont do every single little thing the bible tells us to do.

...that's just ******** up. The majority of ***** are straight men going after little girls.
PostPosted: Mon Nov 20, 2006 1:39 pm

Exactly! I was like "So straight men don't rape?" and she basically said that yes, they do, but that WAY more gay men rape people than straight men, and that if there were NO gay people, there would be practically no rape. She used the example that "Why, 40 years ago, rape was unheard of, and there were WAY less gay people back then!" I was thinking "No, there were just way more CLOSETED ones. -__-" But by that point she'd been yelling at me so much that I'd burst into tears and then eventually ran upstairs to call my dad. I was enough of an emotional wreck that I got no homework done. I missed school today because of it.

She seems to think that gay people =/= humans with emotions and "normal" aspirations (homes, jobs, someone to love them for who they are -__-)

Personally, I am a Christian, so I do try to follow a good majority of the Bible's teachings (they have some ridiculous ones about, say, not cutting one's hair.. -__-) - does being a lesbian make me less of a Christian? No. Do I have morals? Of course I do! So why wouldn't any OTHER average homosexual?

*fume* Gay men who rape little boys are JUST as ******** up in the head as straight men who rape little girls, and vice versa.

Sorry to rant on my own topic like that in a reply post. xd

The only reason people feel that way is because the homosexual end of the rapes are so much more publicized, and memorable because of the subject matter. So it seems like there are more.

The same holds true for the airplane-to-car death ratio. More people die in car accidents every year than plane crashes, but we're more afraid of the planes becuase they're so much more publicizd.

Silly media idiots. xp

It's the availability heuristic... I learned about it in psychology.

I agree!

I thank god that my mom is very understanding about homosexualitY! Yet I haven't come out yet because I'm not veru sure of what I am! I'm like a 4 the kinsey scale but I don't how to explain that! We both hate a lot of things abput the bible and catholic church yet she is still a devout but rational catholic woman!

Y'know, I daresay that more publicizing of faults of gay people than straight people... is discrimination. There goes the "But gays HAVE equality, they want to be SPECIAL!" argument. stare

Bad stereotypes. It’s hard to deal with them but we all have to learn that they'll always be there until either:
1) We all mix our races so much were all 1 race, there is no such thing as being an 'individual', and there is no 'normal' sexuality.
2) Or we all die.

I know how upsetting it can be when people are like that, especially parents. Lucky for myself my mother is open about these things but I know how other parents get.

It seems to boil down to ignorance and not wanting to change, or having a problem with how and what it is.

My friends think I'm going to rape them at sleepovers.

They were really against me sleeping in the same bed as any of them. And my other friend won't let me do so much as hug her before she freaks out.

South Park did this issue once. Big Gay Al was the leader of the scout troupe, and he was very nice and embodied everythign that a scout leader should be, but he got kicked out when the elder scout masters learned he was gay. They then replaced him with a very buff straight man, but as soon as the parents left, the new leaders first activity was... Naked Pictures. He also threatened to hurt the children if they told anyone. In the end the police got the guy and I think Big Gay Al returned to scouting.

Shmoo-Chan - Yeah, I have one of "THOSE" moms, obviously. It's annoying. -__-'

Moocat - I'm really lucky as far as friends go. All of my friends that "KNOW" have never treated me any differently ^__^. They know I'm not interested in them; for that matter, they'll still try to grope me sometimes because it makes me squeal with discomfort. xd I'm sorry yours are like that. <__> ..Maybe you need new friends! biggrin

Tenaku - HEHEHE, I wanna see that episode! xd I've only seen like 5 total. One was where Cartman goes all religious-guru because one of the nuns tells them that they'll go to hell for swearing or something like that... rofl
