The Convocation

It was a lazy afternoon. Kabichi was away from Legeti for once, trying to hunt down atleast a few rats.. Though it didn't go so well. The young rogue huddled in the grasses, watching a gopher hole, waiting for the occupant to emerge. If it came to it, she'd try to dig, but she wasn't THAT desperate yet. But if he didn't come out soon, she'd end up hurting something.

Angaza rose his head, sniffing the air quietly as he looked around. Was he followed? It didn't look like it. The hyena continued plodding southward. He wanted FOOD, damnit, and he, at this point, wasn't above paching to do it, no matter what it was. And thus he'd crept from the Graveyard under the cover of night, and by afternoon, had made it fairly well into the south. Besides, maybe he could bring something back for Mabozi to eat or play with. His little buddy needed SOMETHING to do to occupy his mind. And if he had to maul someone to do it.. So be it.

Oh, he had been noticed, alright. A black and white form moved after the older hyena, deep blue eyes watching intently. Schatz wasn't about to possibly let this male escape, oh no. He was vital to purging the Graveyard of the lion scum. But something stopped her as she trailed after the older hyena. Her nose twitching, the juvenile looked about. Something else was here... Something vile... A cruel and twisted grin crept across her maw as she scented... A lion.

Angaza's ears pricked as he scented the air. OH HO HO. It wasn't normally his to dine, but hell, he was hungry! Plus where there was lion, there was food to scavenge. The hyena plodded along at a more brisk gait, then looked around. The smell was CLOSE, right? Where was it?!

Kabichi, if she had been keeping track of the area, would've noticed something wasn't right. But the cub was hunting, and had begun to dig at the hole when a dark shadfow came over the cub, and she turned around. (Mr. Goipher, however, got away to live another day). It took a moment, but she looked up the see the smiling maw of a Hyena.

"Lost, little girl?" Angaza asked. He grinned, exposing rows of sharp teeth. Luckily for him, Kabichi hadn't seen a hyena, nor did she know what one was.

"Uhm... No." She said. She didn't like that smile, though, and she backed away slightly. That sort of GRIN, she knew... Right before...

"What? So Mommy and Daddy are close by?"

Another grin. If they were, well, damn. If not... He'd never had lion before. Might be tasty! Small as this one was. Maybne he'd let Mabozi see the body when he was done.

"Uhm..." Oh, NOW she was in a rock and a hard place. "Noooo..."

"Good." And Angaza crouched. "Better run, little girl... Makes this MUCH more fun for me."

Oh, what a smart one Angaza was. Creeping around behind the cub, the juvenile continued to grin. Any chance to kick a lion's a**, no matter how small, was always fun. Not that she'd gotten to do it, but hey, first time for everything! Using as much size as she could, Schatz padded up behind the cub, letting out a laughing growl.

Kabichi jumped, spinning around to se a Hyena BEHIND her now. What were these things!? The fur on the back of her neck prickled as she started moving back, tiny claws extending as she tried looking bigger than she was.

"You.. You better leave me alone!"

And Kabichi gave a little cub-"Raawwrrrlll!" noise. She wasn't trying to roar, just look intimidating.

Angaza, meanwhile, blinked. Where the hell had Schatz come from? Eh, it gave her asskicking experiance, and he moved near her, hunching his head low, grinning. Oh, he knew he had power, and it felt good to be in control again. The hyena began stalking forward.

"Better run, little girl," He repeated. Only this time, he had an addition. "We like a little sport before dinner."

Schatz worked for it, so she'd earn some of the kill, after all.

A laugh escaped the female. "THat's it? That's a roar? Oooh, I'm quaking in my skin! Do it again, I dare ya." Another step forward, a swish of her bi-colored tail. Oh, Schatz would LOVE this.

Angaza smirked. Oh, he was wrong about this one. She had spunk. He liked spunk.

Kabichi rose her head indignantly at both hyena's, growling. They wanted a roar, she'd give them one! And from the depths of her tiny little chest came the loudest, meanest roar she could muster.

And Angaza started laughing.

"I think this one's too runty to roar properly, Schatz."

ZINGED.

And Kabichi didn't like the comment as she took a swipe at the Hyena's muzzle, then turned tail and bolted as fast as she could run.

"That's a roar?! Oh my goodness! Ahahahahaa!" Schatz rolled over, laughing hard. At the swat, though, she righted herself, the laughter gone. "Oooh, you gonna regret that, fleabag!" Growling low, she took off after the cub, tail up as if to give Angaza something to follow.

Angaza rubbed his muzzle a second before starting off after Schatz, snarling as he moved. The runt was fast, but with those short little legs, he was fairly sure he and Schatz could catch up quickly. She WAS younger. Small things tired easily.

Kabichi continued mpving, as fast as her little legs could carry her. Where was she going to go? And the cub bolted up a boulder half-buried in the ground, to try to see what was going on. Seeing the grasses move, and the bigger hyena on her trail, she paled, fear kicking in further before she took a flyiung leap off and kept going. She couldn't stop. If she stopped, she'd die.

And the cub started to cry. WAS she going to die!?

Na had been out for what he thought would be a peaceful walk in the lands. However, from the first childish roar he hard and the unmistakable cackling of creatures that really should not be on pridal lands, he knew something was up. With Red, his later ego telling him over and over again just to go home and not get involved, Na had charged towards the source of the sound, drawing into veiw in time to see a flash of white that was a cub being pursued by, based on what he'd heard, hyenas.

Though Na was an utter ditz in general knowledge, he did have very strong morals and a determination never to simply stand by as his father so often did. He picked up his pace as fast as he possibly could, opening his mouth to yell for them to leave her alone but instead losing momentary control to Red.

Instead of the pleading yell he had aimed for, he roared thunderously, startling even himself with it's ferocity.

In persuit of the cub, Schatz hadn't noticed the adult lion. Until he roared. Skidding to a halt, the hyena tumbled over herself before coming to a stop. Ears perked, she looked around. And what she saw made her pale a bit. A big, blue lion, not looking too pleasant. Maybe the cub's parents WERE around...

Off in the distance where he was finishing a meal, Danzi heard the roar. Ears flicking, he rose up and, forgetting the meal, hurried towards the roar. Something was happening, and he could smell the scent of hyenas on the wind.

Angaza rushed up and stood slightly over Schatz. The roar was NOT amusing. It meant parents, which meant a mess. And that would not do as the hyena looked around. He wanted food, and he wanted it now. A low growl eminated from the hyena's throat as he looked around.

Kabichi froze as she head the roar. OhcrapohcrapohCRAP. There were males around here, and they didn't sound friendly at ALL. The cub looked around. She could see the unmistable form of the Hyenas one direction, but she didn't know which way the othger noise came from. The cub huddled low, claws bared skittishly as she cried further. Was she going to die? She wished her Daddy was there...

Na took a backseat to Red, letting the other personality, more versed in battle and intimidations take over. Where he would have asked meekly and very nicely for the hyenas to leave prettypretty please, Red wasn't so well versed in diplomacy. He snarled, his tail curving behind him, his posture almost exactly that seen in Mrost. He was far smaller than his father, a mistweaver in build but nevertheless confident enough in the face of a hyena.

"Cowarrrds" he growled "Picking on those too small to fight back, are we?"

"That's not nice."
Na butted in randomly with his own comment, only serving to piss Red off further.

Doing her best to look big, the young hyena stood up and puffed up, fur ruffling. "For your information, it IS my size! Just a weak lil' fradey cat." A growl rumbled in her throat. She was brave, but she could be stupid. She'd not yet encountered an adult lion, obviously.

Closing in, Danzi spied Na-be before he spied the hyenas. Or at least one hyena. The other seemed to vanish in the grasses. But nevertheless, when he spied them, a growl rose up in his throat. A deep growl. Of course, he was surprised when he nearly stepped on the cub, but instead put himself over her to shield her small size with his own (slightly pitiful) bulk. No cubs would be harmed by hyenas on his watch.

"All's fair in hunting, lion. Or is it one of yours?" Angaza smirked. He doubted it, the cub HAD been alone, and she WAS pretty small.

"You know.. Food chain and what not. The strong devour the weak."

He eyed the new male disgustedly. Ew, it looked like one of those nasty creamsicles a human tried feeding him once.

"Oh, is the Orangecreamsicle a friend of yours?" Angaza snickered. This could get amusing. The hyena began to eye his outs, and inched for one, nudging Schatz along.

They'd get their fun. Distract the adults, and Schatz could have the cub.

Kabichi shivered for a minute before peeking up slightly at Danzi. Oh! He was OK, she knew that. The cub nerviously sidled up to Danzi's leg, eying the Hyenas nerviously as a crying noise emitted from her throat again.
