Hey, if anyone has read a good, christian book that they would like to share with everyone then please do! It is always good to read christian books!

So... here are some that i think are good...

Hinds feet on high places

This present darkness

hinds feet on high places is an allegory. It is about a girl named Much Afraid, who is told she must marry her evil cousin, Craven Fear. She is rescued by the Great Shepherd(Jesus), and taken to the kingdom of his father(God), the kingdom of love. The book is basicly Much Afraid trying to get to the high places. It's a great book and made me cry several times. But, in a good way. You should all read it, it's a great book. biggrin

This Present Darkness is about the trials and tribulations in the spirit realm, also a great book.

So, does anyone else have one or two good books they would like to share?

*ScarredImage typing this next bit*
Please please PLEASE put any book suggestions in the book sticky (Expanding the Knowledge...blah blah blah). Just helps to keep everything in one place. However I won't lock this thread if all that will be talked about in here is about the books already mentioned. If you feel compelled to suggest a book thouh please put it in the sticky. Just trying to clean up the guild and keep it a bit more organized here. *goes to yell at Matt about what we're gonna do about all the prayer threads*

Oh yes, Pilgrim's Progress is another good allegory.

I was completely unable to put down the "Left Behind" series. They're totally awesome. Also, if you like history (especially Christian history) try reading some of Foxe's book of martyrs. It's really inspiring, although rather gruesome.

Jesus Freaks: dc Talk and the Voice of the Martyrs, Volume I and II. They are very very good books, about historic and present day martyrs. I really love them. heart

I like Frank Peretti. I have read one of his books called Hangman's curse. I think it was turned into a movie, or something. But, i've heard good things about him. 3nodding

Yeah they did make a movie. It's very close to the book. Plus the author himself acted in it.

"Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis is an awesome book and should be required reading for all christians. I suggest anything else by Lewis namely "The Great Divorce" which is an allegory about Heavon and Hell. Also, "Soul Survivor" by Phillip Yancey and "Orthodoxy" by G.K. Chesterton are quite good. Now, these are more books on theology and christian living if you want something more like a novel I would suggest anything by Endo Shusaku.

I've read several books. Most of them are devotionals, but they're really helpful.
~Faith That Breathes (there's many kinds I think, like FTB for teens, women, men, children, girls, boys, ect) Its a really good devotional
~The Power of a Positive Teen (there's also other books just like FTB)
~Be Still My Soul, by Elizabeth Elliot
~Armed and Dangerous (that's not really a book book, its more of a guide, but its really helpful because if you have a problem, you can just look it up and it will give you verses straight from the bible about that subject.)

I have this book series called Keystone Stables.

The first book (Trouble with Skye) is about this girl named Skye who has been in foster care all her life and is into drugs and alchohal. But just before she is sent to a juvinell Detention Center, another family takes her in. But they are Christian. So Skye has to learn not only how to over come her fear of horses (They live on a horse farm) but also how to live with a Christian family and become a christian. it is a really good series. I have only read book 1 and 2 but i am looking for the third book.

I also read a bunch of magazines for teen age girl Christians, they have storys and advise and a bunch of other things in them that make you really think and it helped me think more about God and to love him more.

Legends of the Guardian King and Arena by Karen Hancock are good. They're fantasy/sci-fi but the religions are the same as Christianity just with different names. mrgreen
