anyone interested in Guild Wars? The actual release date is in April, but the beta events start in just a couple weeks.
For those who aren't familiar with the title, Guild Wars is a mmorpg that's strictly player versus player (pvp)/warfare based. It has a pretty unique leveling system that makes the level grind that many of us mmorpg fans know and love all but non-existent. Instead, it focuses on guild vs guild warfare are competition, and guild quests etc.
By the way, theres not several servers in Guild Wars. This means that there will only be ONE person with your name - you. It also means that if your guild climbs to the top, your on the top of the WHOLE game, not just the blah-blah server. Don't think that this means you're all playing together with the other 1 zilion people, though. The server creates a new area/world for you every time you go on a quest or go to a battle. This means very little lag, and no chance of being PK'ed by random ppl when your leveling (although this kind of irritates me, because theres nothing better than killing poor little carebears at their favorite leveling zone... heart )
ah, i guess i'm just a cruel, cruel pker at heart razz

okay, paraphrased and simplified:
-Guild Wars is an MMORPG (a Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game. an example is Everquest or Final Fantasy XI or Dark Ages of Camelot). -in guild wars, you can go on quests, etc. like most MMORPGs, but you can also compete against other groups of people. The idea is to be the best on the server.
Has anyone heard of Guild Wars? or am I the only interested person ^^

I've heard of it, but I'm really not interested. I hate forced PvP, there is always some jerk who thinks its clever to kill low level characters. crying And rereading the first post I realize that you're one of them. I mean nothing against you personally, I just don't like that type of gaming. sweatdrop

i jsut read the title and thought there was some Gaia guild war event. and i was about to go Awesome! but then i was dissappointed. ah well. I'm actually not a big fan of MMORPGs... when i do actually get sucked in them i become one of those mother types. The anti-Pker i suppose. heh

aye I know, please don't consider me some kind of rpk that runs around killing lowbies....the reason i LIKE guild wars is because your facing people who have agreed to fight, and come to the arena specifically to fight. Meaning that theres no complaining, and everyone there is there to pwn or get pwned. For that reason, though, guild wars is really only a game for those interested in pvp, like me ^.^

own it, played it.. eh.. I didn't like the facte that once you left town you were completely isolated from others unless you made a team. Also, leveling up was aggrivating.. I loved the job system though, great idea.
But sorry, i'm stickin with World of Warcraft
