((NOTE:
This RP will be a free for all try to foster home these two cubs and up until Kianga leaves them at the main den, shall be a PRP between me and Amy D.
Then it will turn to an ORP for any lions around the main den to interact with the cubs and hopefully a small prideland family or lone prideland female to adopt them.))

Sunset.

Nearly month after Kianga's affair with a wandering rogue, how the memories of his face taunted her mind.
But never the less, it made her smile to think of the fact, that not only had he left her with a heart of longing love sickness...he had also left her pregnant.

He'd promised to come back someday...but now, she just thought over it and wondered if he was telling the truth.

She lay in the shade of the large Pride Rock, just under it actually, her brown eyes looking upon her swollen cream and crimson belly.
And thinking of her soon to be cub's, oh, she wondered if they'd take after their father.
Those haunting yellow eyes, that midnight black pelt...those mysterious runes that cascaded down his forepaws and back.

Wouldn't it be lovely if he had stay-OUCH!

....

A kick.

A very prominant kick, a very noticable pain and a very apparent splash as her water broke and dormant instincts instantly kicked in at this, her time of labour.

The pain was indescribable, especially for one who was just new to this and had not yet sampled the greater feelings of pain.
But yet, all she could think about, infact, what any mother thought about while in labour, was the safety of her cubs.

---------------------------------------------

It wasn't till fourty-seven minutes after the labour pains, did the sound of a loud, rumbling motherly purr seem to resonate from where Kianga was.
She had given birth to three cubs, one female and two males and she was practicly glowing at the sight of each one.

Motherly instinct and love resonating from the red lioness, the daughter of a Firekin and a Pridelander and now the mother of little quarter bloods.
Her rough tongue licking over each and every one of their heads.

The little female, the first born, first to taste the sweet air of the world before her brothers.
Squealed at being touched by the rough tongue of her mother while she drank down more then her fair share of milk.
Her little dark red paws pushed against her red brother's form while she drank.
Annoying ball of fluff, even though she couldn't see it, it was already getting in her way as she squirmed closer to her mum.
PostPosted: Sun Nov 19, 2006 10:50 am

The first-son, an almost reversed duplicate of the daughter, wrestled with his sister for mother's warmth, affection...milk. Of course, this wasn't real wrestling, it was a battle of mumbles, rowls and purrs that he waged with his dark sister.

But there was plenty to go around and as this became apparent to the ball of fluff, the battles was no long necessary. Foe had become sibling in one moment.

The large female purred softly, watching her little ones arguing for affection before she lowered her head and gently nuzzled against them both.
So precious they where.
She then turned to her last son.
Almost an exact double of their father, apart from the ammount of markings...although it seemed none of them had gained a lot of them apart from the odd one of their heads.

She smiled and nuzzled against the little ball of black fur, however, something was amiss as she got no reaction.
No twitch, no mewl, no purr.
Her ear's flattened back as she looked over her cub worriedly and started to nudge him, hoping for any response.

It was only after a few long moments, did she realise how cold her child was.
Despite the fact he was cuddled up to his mother and little siblings.
And then...it hit her.
So cold her child was, no reaction and now that she was close enough...no pulse.
He was dead.

Her brown eye's widened drasticly and she moved, standing up as she looked over her cub.
Searching for any signs of what had killed it.
...
What if she had?
What if she had inadvertedly killed her own child?
It was an accident! It had to have been!

The tears scolded her cheeks and the pain in her chest was unbearable as she felt the need to sob, to wail, to holler.
She'd caused the death of one of her own little ones!!

But what about the others?
What if she hurt them too, caused them to die? She was only new, how could she be trusted.
And without their father here, they had no one but her to look after them in the PrideLands...

...the PrideLands...

She glanced up the steep rock stairway of Pride Rock that led up to the main den, full of experienced mothers and families that would never kill their own!
More tears gushed down her creamy tear like markings as she turned to her little ones and very gently picked up the dark daughter before making her way to the den's.

What was going on?
Everything had moved so suddenly, why?
Why did the earth move? Why was the muffled sound of mother coming through so sadly?
Why wasn't the other fluffballs there?

As she set down the confused little female she moved to collect her brother, doing the same and placing the red male next to his sibling.
While Kianga stood there, watching her cubs that where partially shadowed by the opening of the main den.
She could help but let a chokey sob escape her maw before she lowered her head and cuddled up to her little one's one last time.

She would make sure she was never able to hurt them, like she had their brother.

The sky was already turning to a deep dark blue, the diamond like stars twinkling as she sadly descended the stone path.
Looking back briefly as she heard the confused and lonely mewls of her children before turning back towards where her little deceased son lay and gently picked him up.

And as she walked into the moon kissed plains, she prayed her beloved children would go to someone who would care for them.

Oh this was nice. Warm. Content. His sister was quiet. He was quiet. Everything seemed so peaceful and right with the world. He could only hope that--WHAT! Wait aminute, where did the warm go!? At least he still had his sister...what, now she was gone too!

He whimpered pitifully until he felt the gentle grasp of his mother's jaw. Ah, so maybe she was moving them? This was a good thing, right...? He moved to cuddle back into the large blur of colour he recognised to be 'mother.'

But she went. She was gone. He couldn't see her. Couldn't feel her. What...what was happening?

Kilango was gone, her youngest cub and only daughter had left and not returned. Mtima'safi was almost in a panic, and was out searching for her daughter just as she had been the last several days. It was after a day of searching that she decided to head this way. She'd never imagined that the young one meant this long when she said she would be back soon, but then- hadn't there been some hesitation in her voice? The disguised goddess would not give up so easily, but part of her knew that if her daughter didn't want to be found she would not be found so easily- she could have left, gone from the Pridelands. If she couldn't find her in these lands, there were too many other places to go that she could spend forever looking.

So the goddess set her destination as the central Pridelands, to Pride Rock, where there was a good amount of other eyes that might have seen the blue cub in the last couple days. If not.. well, she was trying to be optimistic. She wouldn't even let her mind review how things might be if Kilango had left the lands. Wahabu would be safer, but her own worries for the blue girl would not calm. At least she knew that Kilango had it in her to take care of herself, to some degree.

As she ascended the path to Pride Rock, something strange caught her eyes. Had one cub not been such a bright color, and the lioness unable to see souls, she might have missed the two small forms that were resting by the dens. There were cubs, very small and sad sounding ones. Mtima frowned and looked around for some sign of a parent nearby, and finding none silently decided to move forward to investigate.

Where was mum!?
She had been here, then she wasn't here anymore.
It was so cold.
So dark, where had that orange and gold light thingy gone??
The little female trembled and mewed loudly, calling out for her mother as she cuddled up next to her brother.
Happy to be beside him.

And she was hungry, where had the milk gone?
She wanted to know what was going on, she felt so...alone, with only her little brother beside her, she need her mommy, she needed to be warm.

The bright male was in the same kind of panic as his sister. He tried to feel around for any other warmth than his sibling, craning his head around for new colours to enter his blurry visions, or new warmth to hit his little nose.

And he was very aware that he was hungry. He even tried sucking on his poor sister's head before he realised nothing would come forth. He started to mewl. Loudly, joining his sister in a melancholy chorus.

Mtima's eyes were wide, fileld with a mix of curiosity and concern, as she approached the two poor cubs. Her head was low to get a better look, and to get a scent from them. There was something very familiar about the scent they had, in her mind it seemed to match the color of one of the two crying cubs.

Why would anyone leave cubs out here like this? They were near others of the pride, but they were certainly not safe from the cold or other dangers. She took another look around, and decided that worst case scenario she'd just have to talk to an angry parent if one showed up.

"Shh, shh," she murmured, gently nudging the cubs with her nose to test their reception to her and trying to offer some comfort while thinking.

The sister weakly batted at her younger sibling for trying to nurse her head, the little idiot.
Mrowing slightly in annoyance while at the same time, pitifully calling out for their mother.

However, it was only till the blurry yellow thing appeared and gently nosed them, did she quiet down and touch her tiny muzzle to that of the giant stranger.
Who was this? A friend of mothers?...daddy? She couldn't really tell right now, but the soothing sound coming from it soon calmed her.

((I hope you don't mind my pregnant girl coming along to check things out? XD ))

Swelled belly was very noticeable on the green lioness as Na'ilah made her way through the Pridelands. After finding out that she was going to have her second litter, the green lioness was very happy and excited about the prospects of more cubs. Her lime green eyes scanned over the landscape before a faint sound in the distance caught her attention. Ears perked forward as she neared the main rock of the pride. Curiosity had gotten the better of her as she slowly made her way towards the sounds that now became cries, cries from newborn cubs. But why? Slowly making her way towards a den, the lioness stopped at the entrance and noticed the mixture of smells. Blinking, she called out softly in the hope of an answer because things didn't sound too good. "Hello?" Her voice slowly echoed a bit before she took a few cautious steps inside and it didn't take the female long before spotting another member and two small cubs. Though, they didn't appear to be her's by color, but she was not to make any assumptions. "Is everything alright? I heard some cries and thought something bad had happened...I don't mean to intrude." The last thing she wanted was to barge in on another mother and her cubs.

Oh my word, she hit me! Mrowling back at his sister, and ready to wage a brand new war, his thunder was stolen from him as...something warm...other than his sister...nuzzled him.

Had his mother returned? This fuzzy blob was a different colour, and a different smell. But did it matter? Not right now! He needed the warmth, the love, the food.

And things became even more curious as a fuzzy tumble of words floated about the den. Was someone new here now?

Mtima'safi smiled sadly at the cubs as they responded in a somewhat positive manner to her. They obviously were not well on their own, why on earth were they abandonned? She didn't get to think about this long before she heard someone call out. Her head was straight up immediately, in case it was the mother returning- but one look at the magnificent green lioness that appeared said that she couldn't possibly be their mother. She was almost impossibly pregnant, and seemed to be without pain. They couldn't be hers. This decided, she did not abandon the cubs entirely to converse with the stranger and offered them some small amount of shelter with a warm yellow paw.

"I don't know," the goddess replied, not returning the greeting, "You're not intruding- did you by any chance see a lioness heading away from here?" She looked almost hopeful, perhaps the mother was not far from here, but part of her said no mother would leave her cubs somewhere so obvious on their own with the intention of coming back.

This new thing sounded funny.
And it was too brightly coloured!
Funny thing.
As she mewled a little as another voice hit her partially deaf ears, her head craned softly to lay atop her brothers.
This was soooooooooo tiring! And she was still hungry!
PostPosted: Tue Nov 21, 2006 7:50 pm

As the lioness replied back to Na'ilah, a slow dread spread through her as ears flatten against her head. She shook her head slightly, "I'm afraid I didn't see any lioness come out of here or that resembles the cubs' colors...are they...abandoned?" She whispered the last word softly, eyeing the two cubs. "They are very young, don't look too old either." She took a few steps closer to the yellow female and cubs before lying down on the ground, sides heaving slightly as she pant. Being pregnant was fun in it's own right, but the process was tedious. Listening to their meows, she eyed the other lioness silently. Softly, "They need to get something in them, or they won't make it for very long. Perhaps if we could get them to nurse, that might help," She paused slightly with a lopsided smile on her features. She was well on her way in her pregnancy and there was plenty of milk she could offer to the cubs, but she didn't know if they would accept or try to nurse, she hoped they would so everything would be alright.

That smell.
That glorious smell!! What was that?? It smelt so tantalising.
At the sight of the strange green one coming into view, she mewed a little before that smell hit her again.
...
FOOD! It was milk!
The female immediatly snuggled into the green lump of fur beside her and her brother and started to nurse.
Joy and rapture, finally these...things, where feeding her.
