Mother had said she had matured, but Liang herself didn't see much of a difference. She was still the same person she always was, and she liked it that way. But now that her dragon had come to live with them, she had to be a little more assertive. Otherwhise, Jack would be riding on its back at all hours and it would never get any peace. Though, it wasn't really an it, was it? It looked like a boy to her, but it hadn't been very helpful when she had asked. So, until something could prove her wrong, she would just assume it was a boy. But, it still needed a name, and that was causing her some trouble. Finally she had gotten Teagan to drive her to the library, and he had left her there with Dragon (that was his only name so far) fleeing from the house of books like it was infested with the plague.
Now, after nearly three hours of searching through the dusty history books, she was starting to lose hope. Dragon was perched partially on top of the table, his hind end curled over the top of a nearby chair, and he simply watched as she flipped through pages, snorting and chirping here and there. "What do you think Dragon?" She asked, gesturing to a name on the page, "I want something meaningful, something that suits you." The dragon simply stretched his head an inch closer and chirped again. Not very helpful.

After taking a thing or two from Thomas, Paxton had decided to wise up and perhaps devote some more time to learning. The next time he had class with the teacher---visibly the feathers on Paxton's back ruffled. Next time he wasn't going to let Thomas find any points to nit pick...or only a few...maybe just one or two. No one was perfect after all.
"Body magic," the boy moved his lips thumbing over a few volumes. QL 176--The books on this shelf were 180, but the one's next to this self ended up in the 160's and the 190s. That meant--eyes shrinking a bit, Paxton looked up at a very high shelf. Drats! It wasn't as if Paxton were a shrimp or anything, but he wasn't 'necessarily a tall boy either. With a sigh the lovebird looked down at the dragon who had curled herself up next to him. "Do they ever make it easy Marigold?" The dragon didn't respond and instead, yawned and closed her eyes.
Useless--with a huff Paxton stood on his tippy toes and began to reach for the top of the self. Just a little farther... The love bird took a step--and then slipped. "Whaa--" In an effort to save himself and his balance the boy moved back, only to step on the tail of Marigold, who let out a yelp herself and bolted. A few more crashing sounds as some books toppled over onto Paxton.
"Get back here--" Paxton half shouted (half whispered, it was a library after all). Off the boy went, in pursuit of the terrified beast. Closer, closer...he was closing in on her. "Got ya--" was the sound of triumphant cry as Paxton tackled Marigold. If only he had been looking ahead instead of down, he would have seen the girl and her dragon he was about to plow into.

Liang was absorbed in her reading, and so she didn't notice Paxton until just before he slammed into her. And when she did, she let out a screech, grabbing for Dragon as she beat her wings. But with the extra weight of Dragon, she couldn't take off like she usually did. Instead, she only moved back a little, yelping as the lovebird collided with her. Dragon snorted loudly, slithering out of Liang's grasp and under the table to avoid the chaos.

"Sonofa--"Paxton sat up rubbing the side of his head. The soft muffled squeak below him, the only distracter from just how angry he was at Marigold right now. Opening his eyes fully, Paxton caught sight of the beautiful female he had managed to take out. Shuffling out of the girls way as best as he could, he then leaned over and worriedly fretted about. Great, great...awesome way to meet girls Paxton, just tackle them. "Aug--Are, are you ok?" Came a blurted out stammer. "I'm so sorry--."

Liang was a little bit dazed after the collision, but with a little n** on the heel from Dragon, she snapped back to reality. She found herself facing the boy, and if it were any other day, she would be been horribley embarassed. But today, nothing could stop her. She smiled as he apologized, "Don't worry about it." Suddenly, she frowned, "You look familiar, have we met?"

With a good 'ol one-two-heave-hoe, Paxton was up and on his feet, dusting himself off. Usually he would be horribly scantly clad, but the recent shift in seasons had sent the skanky little creature high-tailing it for warmer clothes. With a sigh and a toss of his longer blonde hair back in place Paxton put on the biggest smile he could muster and held out a hand for Liang, "Only in my dreams."
... Paxton, only Paxton would have been stupid (or brave, your choice...) to say such a line at a time like this. Behind his back Marigold let out a loud whimper. "Hmm--" The boy glanced back for a second. Ugh, back into her protective quivering position she had returned. It was a wonder she had lasted so long with the child. Back to Liang swiveled the mass of bright colored feathers, "Come on now..." he waved his outstretched hand, which was partly covered with his oversized lavender sweater. "I promise I don't bite."

Liang laughed a little at the line, then spread her wings out to steady herself as she took his hand. "I don't either, and neither does... Um, Dragon," she answered once she was back on her feet, pointing to the mass of blue curled under the table. The wyrmling chirped, lifting its crowned head up from the carpet. He didn't seem to notice the other dragon, though she didn't really seem to want to be noticed.

"Huh? Don't have a name for him--erm, her--it, yet?" Guiltily the lovebird glanced back at the elegant animal behind him. Whatever gender it was, it was certainly a pretty and or handsome dragon. He couldn't help but wonder what type of dragon it was. He had never heard of a dragon who looked like that, then again...his knowledge of dragons, besides gold Dragon’s was limited.
An so far good response from Liang about this whole thing. She hadn't yelled at him after he hit her, nor smacked him. Hmm, things were going smoother than he had first thought they would. Conveniently forgetting to remove his hand from hers, the boy shifted the conversation, going back to Liang’s original question. She did deserve a serious answer after all...(not like the first one wasn't serious and all).
"But you know, dragon names aside and all...I think I have met you before." Frowning, Paxton reached deep back into his memory. He was sure he had seen this girl somewhere before, the hair and wings were all too familiar. Besides, she was a D-corp child and his age, surely they had, had a class together...That was it!--"Ah, I know! Flight class."

"No, Dragon doesn't have a-" She paused when he mentioned flight class, blushing brightly, "Oh my god!" Instead of reclusing like she would have only a short time ago, she cracked up, remembering who this bright colored boy was, "Paxton, right?" Dragon chirped happily, having been a bit worried about his mistress.

Hesitantly the boy began to smile, was that a good thing that she remembered him? Of course it is halfwit! Mentally he was given a smack by his inner voice. Any remembrance is better than none, now use it to your advantage. If he could have visibly scowled at himself, Paxton would have. Yet, Liang was in front of him and so he continued to smile.
"Yeah, yeah that's it." The boy nodded as he shifted his warm fur lined coat which was falling off. "Liang, how could I forget." Yes, he was sure that was her name...wasn't it? Oh god, that would be the worst if he got it wrong. 'HAY YOUR LIANG, RIGHT?' only to get a blank stare. No. He was sure this was Liang and yet...not at the same time. The girl in flight class had been so very quiet...so very shy and proud. What could have happened? This girl seemed energetic and confident...all right, so Liang had been a little confident in flight class, but still, she was completely different than he remembered her.
Then again, Paxton wasn't necessarily the same kid now that he was a couple of years ago. Slyly the boy smirked, "It's been to long..."

"It has," she agreed, pushing a stray strand of hair behind her ear, "I know I wasn't like, the easiest person to talk to, but I'm working on it, my brother says it'll get easier to talk to people but..." She glanced down at her feet, she was talking too much. She did that a lot lately. No no, don't make a fool of herself. Stubbornly, she smiled, and looked up at him. "It's good to see you again. What's gone on in the world of Paxton?"

Liang's question stumped the bird. What was going on in the world of Paxton? What was he supposed to say? Life was pretty normal. There was nothing exciting to report. These days he went to classes and helped take care of the house hold unit...not to mention keep an eye on Keanu.
But that was all small stuff, simple chit chat. There was nothing exciting to report. No heroic feats, no odd run ins, nothing! Everything was rather...boring.
But, he couldn't tell Liang that, no body was impressed with the ordinary. Perhaps if he just spun the truth a bit..."You know, a little work a little play...Eh, but better to show you, m'dear, right? " The boy smiled slightly before braving enough to offer his next proposal. "Would you uh--care to join me for coffee or--tea, something like that? "

When he asked for her to join him she blushed crimson, starting to pull the sleeves of her sweater down to cover her hands. He had to be playing a trick on her, no boys were too smart to do that. At least, she thought Paxton was too smart too. Being mean to people was only something people with no self-respect did. Because she had been quiet for so long Dragon nipped at her foot, snapping her to attention. "Eh?" she yelped, then turned an even deeper red. "I-" she started, giggling for a reason she couldn't discern, "I, um. Tea would be nice." But it would still leave Dragon without a name. Well, they could talk about that later, over tea, yeah. Dragon, getting the feeling he'd have to go along with something, rolled his eyes, tightening his curl around the leg of the table.

"Tea then? Sounds good to me," Paxton smiled shoving his hands into his pockets. "I think I know a place. It's nothing fancy...but certainly cozy," he flashed her a smile that said maybe he knew something that she didn't. It was all fun and flash, just Paxton being silly of course...not that she would know that, but keeping the other party in suspense was half the fun! "So if you’re good to go then? We can of course talk names over tea." He turned to go, stroking a hand over Marigold, while Liang got ready to go herself.
Hmmn, so, today hadn't been the most productive day for learning, had it? Oh well, people over books! Who cared what his fool of a magic teacher thought, huh? Who knew...maybe he would make a friend by the end of the day.
((Ul, I'm gunna call it good on my end and feel free to wrap it up on yours. But, I feel so bad for taking so long on this. I would really like another PD to make it up for you. ;; So please accept! ))
