OBEs, or out of body experiences, are similar to astral projection, though when you are having an OBE, you spiritual self is 'conscious' though your physical is sleeping. Have you ever had one? If you have, tell us your story! Oh, and you have a link for a good OBE site, please post it!

It is caused by a seperation of body and spirit. Many believe that your body and spirit seperate by a few inches while you sleep.
An OBE is when ypur spirit completely leaves your body, and you can conciously control it.
I've had very few OBEs, though I have experienced them.
The first OBE I can remember having was when I was a child. I thought that I was awake, and I was rather bored, so I decided to go downstairs to see if my mom would let me watch a little TV before heading back to bed. As I wandered downstairs into the living room, she didn't notice me. I yelled, byt she didn't respond. I promptly scampered back to my room, and looked in my mirror. I remember seeing my body, on my bed, in the background of the mirror. I freaked out, thus sending my spirit back to my body. I actually believed the incdent to be a vivid dream, until I learned about OBE's.
The only other OBE I can remember well was once when I decided it would be nice to spend part of the night on Toronto's waterfront, so I went there. While I was there, I think one lady saw me, because she seemed rather shocked when she looked in my direction, and quickly left the area where I was hanging out.
An out of body state is immensley difficult to achieve, and takes a lot of determination and discipline. Even with years of practice, I still have a very low succuss rate when I try to astral project.
To seperate the body and spirit, you need to be extremely good with meditation. I'll write up a little meditation exercise for this at a later time.

Here is the basic meditation routine I use for this.
Mind you, even after years of practice, I still have a very low succuss rate.
Make sure you have not eaten or drank anything excluding small amounts of water, for two hours prior to doing this. Be sure to wear loose, non-restrictive clothing.
Turn off all lights, and lie down. Feel free to put a light blanket on, but refrain from using pillows. Straighten your spine. Align your body, keeping perfect symmetry. Have your arms by your sides. Relax.
Close your eyes and begin to meditate. Focus on your personal spiritual energy, and eventually you will begin to feel as if your spirit is vibrating, like a mass of atoms. Focus on this energy. Think ofit being released from your body, and focus on trying to get this energy to slowly rise up and seperate from the body.
If you are able to achieve seperation, you will be able to walk around like you would in a normal state, and you will be able to 'wish' yourself somewhere. To 'wish' yourself somewhere, just think, 'I will go to _____! I will go to ____!', and surely enough, you should be able to go there.

yea, simply put, you meditate, then go like your going to go to sleep, but stop yourself right before sleep kicks in (so you're niether conscious nor unconscious), try to hold it, and then try to move without moving your physical body. takes lots of practice, but they say it caan be done.

Well, OBEs can sometimes result from NDEs (Near Death Experiences) where an individual comes extremely close to death, and thier astral body leaves thier physical body (as it would in death), but soon thereafter bounces back, and the person survives.
I know a guy who has an experience similar to that. He got ino an accident, and ended up in a coma. While in that state, he did astral project and was told by a being whom he met that it 'wasn't his time' yet.
