Its an early posting this morning, so please bare with me.

What do you believe the following means?

"The world is lead by a will, blind and ruthless. In order to transcend the limitations of that world, you must stop desiring, stop willing, and stop hating."

Destruction of the will is a primary focus in the path of Buddhism I follow. Desires, as we know, are born from selfishness. However, that comes to the question of what are desires? What of the carnal desires we focus on such as eating, sleeping, et cetera? What differentiates those desires from the desires for goal creation and the desire to transcend and come into contact with our true Buddha natures?

Of course desire themselves are not the problem. Attachment to desire, aversion to desire, ignorance of desire. The three poisonous attitudes that pollute our mind affect our desires. The desire to be good people, to lead good lives, to help others, to be happy and free from suffering.

Attachments lead to co-dependency, material obsession, celebrity-worship, neurotic pursuit of sense pleasure and good reputations.

Aversions lead to misanthropy, aceticism, xenophobia, substance abuse and self-harm.

Ignorance leads to thinking that food comes from the store, security comes from locks on your doors, and that there is some reward at the end of life.
