Remember this is all theory. Similar to According to the element only with a different theme.
The elements play an important role when casting spells and the like. Some learn faster than others, some takes time.
***When i mean awakened, the element may or may not be realized by the person. This usually happens during the adoloescent years
Fire: (Raw energy)- People born under the element of fire may have their element awakened faster than the others. Even without formal magickal training, fire people have strong magickal power although most of it can be triggered only by extreme emotion like anger or elation (but probably not sadness), unless the person can already control it. Raw energy means it would be hard for them to manipulate their energy. Sometimes, so much energy is released that physically the person radiates heat. During this time the person will feel weak but at the same time doesn't. The will of the fire people are the strongest that is why their magick 'transmits' easily.
Water: (Fluid energy)- The awakening of water in people is pretty average. Not too fast yet not too slow. Water people's energy flow very much like a stream, slow during calm weather and fast during harsh weather. What does this mean? It means that like fire element it 'transmits' easily(e.g. healing), but oppositely it can be triggered with even a slight change of emotion. Water people's energy flow constantly in and out that alot of times they will feel weak, then strong, then weak again then strong again. If not contained, their energy can be easily stolen.
Air: (Volatile energy)- The awakening may be a bit later than the rest but not the last, though there are cases of air people are triggered to be awaken prematurely. Air people have the ability to 'adapt'. If you think about it air can move boulders, water and fire. But that doesn't mean they have the power over it. It simply means it can influece them. After the awakening of the element of air, people would instantly feel it but not necessarily recognize it. Sometimes they will mistake it for fire, water or earth but eventually they will realize its true form. Air people can contain their powers easily but has a volatile nature ---> Meaning hard to control.
Earth: (Resistant energy)- This element has the longest time to awaken. But even during its dormant state it will protect its weilder to from magick or physical harm. Earth is basically a passive element because its energy is constantly surging only inside the person. It rarely goes out even in extreme cases. That is why earth people use different means, herbs, leaves, fruits, earth, stones, as mediums instead of directly using it. It is amongst the most versitile and powerful element.

Here are the list of the special skills the weilder of the elements gain. Active meaning when in use, passive when not in use.
Fire: Active: Strong (sometimes overly strong) spells. Easy production of heat.
Passive: Strong will, confident, passionate and good decision making. Resistance to heat.
Water: Active: Not very fast of spells with moderate strength. Strong healing spells.
Passive: Fluid body movements and adaptable. Sympathetic and empathetic
Air: Active: Fast effect of spell with low strength. But even if that's true their spell has a continuitive effect.
Passive: Fast learners with great logic.
Earth: Active: (though needs medium) Strong and highly potent but it takes some time to take effect depending on the gravity of the spell.
Passive: Resistant to almost every spell.
*** I didn't add the elements (absolutes) of Light, Darkness and Ages because they are too dangerous. But here's a breif overview:
Light: Life energy
Darkness: Destructive energy
Ages: Creation energy

Under this set, I would seem to fall under Air and darkness. Passive air, it would seem. Definite on the darkness again though...

Since when were light, darkness and ages considered universally known elements? Also, why would darkness be destructive? Dark does not mean bad.

All of those are explained in my previous post (According to the element). Plus i did say it's all in theory. Actually I don't call them elements but so far i haven't found a perfect term for them. Darkness does not mean something bad that's true, but 'destruction' here does not mean total annahilation and worthless death. It's the energy that aids to create life anew. Without death there won't be life, and without darkness there won't be light. If an animal does not decompose, what would feed the soil? If humans don't die, how do you expect the world to support the growth of population? Destruction is seen in a negative, but life may as well be, time may as well be. Destruction of evil may be considered that kind of destruction. In short all of them can cause harm but each can contribute to a greater good.

If Light has Life energy..how is posting its absolutes dangerous? I mean..wouldn't that involve healing and such? sweatdrop

I mean..wouldn't that involve healing and such? sweatdrop Yes, it's true that life energy (light) has a very strong healing capability, but there is also some negative into it. Light has the ability to transcend alot of bounds, life exsists everywhere and light is the main source of life energy. But what if light was deprived to a person.... What if a light element person uses the blessings of life for gambling and the like.... that's when the light element becomes corrupted, and that's why i didn't post. Thank you for your interest though 3nodding

Elements are part of a language of understanding. Magic is a science, after all. My take on the Taoist Elements are:
Physical
-Air = Gas
-Fire = Plasma
-Water = Liquid
-Earth = Solid
Energy
-Fire = "True" or "Free" energy
-Earth = Gravity or centralizing energy
-Metal = Condensing or materially destructive energy
-Water = Potential energy
-Wood = Active energy (of any of the seven types)
With this understanding, its easy to see why Taoism and Physics are so closely attached.

Just out of curiousity... how would you go about awakening a person under Earth? And if any, what types of practices would you suggest for that person?
(I know you put up some cursory stuff up there for Earth practices, but I was wondering if there was anything specifically.)

Earth is pretty much a "trapped" element, it's pretty hard to unlock and so far only meditation is the key. Usually people would just suddenly feel that they are of the element of earth. I think "absorbing" the earth is one way to unlock it, channeling the energies coming from the element will awaken the ones inside you. Expose oneself to nature and feel it coursing through you. This might take time or be instantaneous depending on the person :3 Hope that helped!

The question is do you believe that they exist? If you do, then which are you? Meditate on your answer and when you're ready "call" upon it. (This is why alot of people don't acknowledge their existance) You will feel a VERY powerful force radiate from you. When it's Light, i think it is great warmth and emotion, when it's Darkness it's the opposite, a sudden chill but still a surge of emotion. In my case, i just found out recently that I wasn't Darkness rather I'm Ages. That is why I have natural 'instincts' when it comes to dealing with elements. The thing is, you can't instantaneously unlock every amount of energy in yourself. It's a work in progress, but this is a start.

Do these alignments differ from the western zodiac to the eastern zodiac? I know I'm a fire sign under the western zodiac (Aries), and I'm also a Fire Tiger by the Chinese zodiac.
