Ruby red eyes gazed lazily out in to the world she was nout yet allowed to run free in. She had been out there on occassions with her mother and father to the lands of the forest but they had swiftly returned to the dark damp place which was home. It wasn't that Kinamasi hated the swamps, far from it she loved them. They were home, she had grown up amongst the ooze and the strange smells, the damp grounds and the rich dark soil where many strange plants grew and lizards thrived. She loved this place, but she longed for out there.
She could only dream of the world she didn't know the world her mother held her back from. Kikawaida was a wonderful mother but she worried so much. She wanted to be free to see the world to use her paws to take her to far off regions beyond her imagination or even her comprehension. She wished to see the world.
Sighing gently she glanced down at her deformed foot paw shaking her head unhappily. Her mother claimed her limp was the reason she should not see the world, Kinamasi knew only too well her mother feared she would never come back from the out there. How she longed to be a part of the rest of the world, to come home and see her true home in all it's swampie beauty.
Shaking her head and removing these thoughts she layed her head upon her paws and humphed, it wasn't like she would be gone forever, she just wanted to see what was out there beyond the misty boundries.

Though she knew it not, Kinamasi's dearest wish and her mother's fear were about to be realized. For the queen came on steady, muddied paws through her domain, seeking the child who had grown alongside and just behind her own.
Her own...even now, Asali'jua's five children walked the world outside the swamp - if they walked at all. She knew well Kikawaida's fear, because that fear was her own. How she worried and longed for her sons and daughters! Every day, she waited for their return. Every day, she prayed for them.
Jabali, and Jabali's nieces and nephews, were a great comfort to her, but they could not replace the pieces of her heart she'd sent away. Asali could only hope they would make their way back one day.
Shaking her melancholy away, the pale lioness approached the huntress' lame daughter. "Kinamasi."

Ruby red eyes turned to the lioness as she approached, a smile lifting her dark lips as she bowed her head gently to the queen of the swamps. "Yes maa'am" she whispered lifting her deep red eyes to look upon the swamps ruler. It wasn't very often that she was called upon by the queen so she stood and carefully hobbled towards Asali'jua trying hard to keep the lamness from her process as she walked. "How can I be of service?" she smiled lightly, kinamasi wasn't one to be shy, if anything she was out going and care free, of course if she had known what the queen was here to tell her, she wouldn't have been half as formal as she was being.
The queen was about to set her free in to the world, to see the sights that she longed to see, to view the world through nieve, untainted eyes, eyes which held a aprtk for life, for the future and a longing for the world to flow beneath her foot paws.

"I did not come to beg service of you, not today." Asali watched her with a keen eye, as her white-tufted tail swayed behind her, sweeping through a shallow pool. "It is time, child. Time for you to leave here and learn; your body grows, but so too must your mind, or else you will never truly be grown, no matter how graceful you become."
"Your mother gave you a name, once. She called you Kinamasi; Kinamasi is a child's name, and as long as you bear it, you will be a child in the eyes of the spirits, in the eyes of the Mother, and in the eyes of the pride as well."
"You must find a new name, your true name, and be child no more."

Kinamasi couldn't beleive what she was hearing. She was being told to leave? She was being allowed to leave? By the queen herself of all things! Her tail lashed happily and she nodded, a vigerous little nod, her ruby red eyes dancing happily. "Yes ma'am" she smiled, ehr eyes searching off in to the distance where her new life would begin. "Where do I go?" she smiled a little, it was a silly question she knew she must go every where, still. "I must say farewell to mother, she'll be worried." Her brow furrows slightly, she wasn't really sure if she wished to bid farewell to her mother or not. She doubted she could face those soft pink eyes, especially if they held tears in them.
Her toes flexed slightly as she glanced out in to the lands beyond the swamp. "I'll come back with a great name" she chuckles happily rolling her dark shoulders, seh didn't know if she should be elated or saddened, she was leaving, she was excited beyond any comprehension but she would miss her family. The world would be her oyster now and she would find a name in it to suit her.

"Go, travel as your paws take you, as the spirits and fate take you," Asali answered. "You must leave here, now. Leave these lands without delay - do not turn to bid your mother goodbye, nor anyone else. Go and find your name."
"When you have found your name, and only when, return here, to your home. Return to your pride and speak your name before us all." This was easier, somehow, to say to someone else's daughter. Although it was a keen reminder of her own pain, there was no heartbreak for her here.
"If, after one year and one moon, you have not returned, know that we will say the rites for you, so that you will not roam as a ghost forever."
Pulling her tail from the water, the lioness spun on her hind paws and disappeared back into the depths of the swamp.

Kinamasi took a deep breath and turned her head once again. "thankyou" she whispered as she nodded and took but one slow step over the border lines of the swamp lands before she broke in to a hobbling run.
a little genet followed behind her as she ran away in to the world she longed to see. Tears rolled down her cheeks, but this was her destiny to see the world and everything in it!
"Goodbye mother, we will meet again soon." she whispeerd on to the wind her head lifting high as she escaped fromt he land she loved so much and galloped off in to the world. The world she longed to see.
