He had been in the temple for a few days, wondering the halls and meeting a few fellow Malu along the way. He had never dreamed of meeting so many of varying coat hues and personalities. Their coats matched every colour under the sun from the darkest of reds to the brightest of yellows. His own family had been a mixture of blues, and greys. They were dazzeling, and even just watching them he was content. Though the days were long, he was content with his life at the temple.
Nevertheless, occasionally Brayden found himself lonely and homesick. He had never really had a home, his family followed the God of Rain between the mountain valleys and the beaches where they watched the storms rage over the sea. He had been heart broken traveling the desert, but the occasional shower here gave him hope. One such tender rainfall had recently passed and the blue male was rolling carelessly over a patch of wet grass. Pulling himself to his feet, he shuddered before settling down into a seated position to look about the stone walls quietly. A few pups went running by, filling the air with laughter, and he smiled softly to himself.
[ooc; i'm sorry that sucked so hard. late to class!]

Karma exitted the temple, a warm fall sun shined above. There was a cool breeze and some of the was wet and shining from a shower recently. She stood in the sunlight for a moment before starting to head down the steps of the temple.
The day was chirping with the voices of malu and the giggling of children. The marble steps of the temple were cool under Karma's paws. She padded out quietly a few paces away from the bottom step and stretched, giving a little yawn. She longed to find someone she knew. Someone from the nature pack. Anyone really. It was a beautiful day and that constitues finding friends.

His blue head rose when he heard activity on the stairs nearest him, nostrils flaring with interest before his alertness abated slightly and the sight of a dark hued female met his eyes. He calmed, visibly, lured by her easy demeanor at the moment. Her stretch and yawn gave him cause to smile slightly as he pulled himself to his feet, allowing himself a little stretch of the hind legs before nodding to her. "G'day, Miss."
For being so new, one might find him bold but he was merely polite. Introduce yourself to new individuals, stand for those of the fairer gender, be kind to children and speak softly but clearly - the usual gentleman's code that crossed boundaries, cultures and packs. Shaking his coat lightly to dry the short hair, he grinned visibly.

Karma looked to her side after hearing a voice, spotting a blue male nearby. She tilted her head, and smiled gently. "Hello." She had never seen this malu before, but then again there were many malu she had never met, never seen for that matter.
She flaped her wings slowly as she spoke again. "My name is Karma. Are you relatively new to these parts? Not to offend, of course, but I have never seen you here before." He had a very formal aura to him, the way he stood, the way he sounded.

His smile broadened and he gave an easy, humble shrug, "A few days. Today is the first I've been about, I've been in resting." He dipped his head to her in greeting, "Pleasure to meet you, Karma. My name is Brayden, and believe me, no offense taken. This temple is large, it's easy for someone to slip by unnoticed."
Finding that though he had spoken much, he hadn't voiced a question, Brayden hesitated. After chewing on the inside of his lower lip for a few moments, he spoke again, "And what of yourself? Is this your usual residence?" He meant whether she had grown up in the temple or traveled from elsewhere, but Brayden was out of practice talking with females and felt mildly awkward. Nevertheless, he was confident it would pass.

She smiled kindly, happy he was not offended and happy thet the malu in the area were growing more diverse. SHe had never seen a malu of such blue tones and was quite interested in where he had originated.
"Well, Brayden, I live with some of the Nature pack on the outskirts of the forest. It's possibly a mile from the desert. I come to the temple atleast 5 times a week, as the journey is not far." She pasued momentraily, feeling her answer was not sufficient. "I follow the God of Fate, so it's only appropriate I live with the Nature pack. Seeing as you have only just arrived, I shall pose a similar question to you. Where have you travelled from? There are many new malu here lately, I'm only just beginning to learn of the vastness of our lands."

Brayden allowed his backlegs to fold as he grew more comfortable with their conversation, blue eyes alert with complete attention. "I travel from the far northern shores. My family pack was small and we all followed either the God of Rain or the God of Storms, I myself followed Rain. I left them to find a more solid home."
His ears perked at the mention of a nature pack. He had heard of them, but not gotten to talk with anyone about the group. "The Nature pack? I suppose that would be where my alliance would lie." It was more to himself, but was posed as a question. His expression was somewhat comical in it's confusion, but it cleared as he gave a laughing smile. "Truth be told, I hadn't thought much farther ahead in detail than simply reaching here."

Karma nodded as he spoke about the shores and his family's following. "I've never moved... I was birthed and raised in this area. It sounds more interesting to come from far away though, I'd like to visit some of these places that everyone speaks of some day."
She inspected his coloring again, a little more closely this time. His body held four, if not more shades of blue. His legs, in particular, had four. He also had some interesting markings on his body and face. He resembled one who would follow a water-based God or Goddess. She thought it somewhat strange that he didn't plan ahead atleast a little as to what he would do when he came here.
"I'm sure if you came to any of the areas the Nature Pack inhabits you would be welcomed. We've had several new members lately, one from the southeast, others from the west. There really is quite and assortment of malu congregating."

As if understanding that she thought his thought process odd, he continued that train of thought for a moment longer, "I had been unprepared for the expanse of desert. My mother had warned me of it, but I had mistakenly taken for descriptions as exaggerations. Any plan I had had in my mind was lost during those days." He shrugged, as if it were no loss, "I've made more interesting discoveries without a plan, I believe."
He was trying to inspect her pelt as well, without appearing to stare. He'd never seen such a vibrat purple before on anything but a flower, and it's stark contrast against the black to him was strikingly beautiful. A light blush rose to his cheeks at the thought and he looked away briefly before returning his gaze to her, "I was born here as well, but left just after I could walk. The North Beaches are beautiful, hopefully one day you'll be able to visit there. The white sands with the mountains for a backdrop is a breathtaking scene."
In response to the open invite to the Nature pack, he nodded, "I will have to strike out that way soon. It will be good to have a place of belonging once again. Is it only lately that so many Malu have returned to the temple?"

Ahh, that explained it then. "Oh, yes. Adventures are nice. And the desert is quite... unpredictable and dangerous." She knew this from experience, forgetting to ask where the nearest oasis, lake, river, any water source was, she had travelled into the desert and almost dehidrated. She shuddered at the thought, the memory. "Not having plans is the best way to find things, to be adventurous."
She was almost entranced by his talk of the beaches. "They sound amazing. I've heard so many stories of far away places. It will be such a joy when I actually get to visit there." Her eyes were looking through him almost, imagining the beaches and the mountains.
She then adressed the final question he asked. "Actually, there's usually a pretty steady flow of new malu. But altely, there have been new ones popping up everywhere. It's quite unusual. All the time I've been here I've never seen so many coming to the temple." It actually scared her some, the number of malu that were appearing. "It's so unusual.." She repeated quietly, looking down at the ground she was walking on.

"Adventures are best done without plans, but journeys are better left to organisation. Atleast the long ones. I've had my fill of that desert without knowing where I would be tomorrow. It is a long stretch between here and the Northern ranges." He smiled softly, nodding his head, "But adventures... better unplanned. That's what makes them adventurous."
"The beaches are enthralling. I would be more than happy to escort you there myself one day, perhaps a few of us could make an adventure of it." He left the invitation open to a group outing to not worry her on his intentions. He was interested in the female, but he would hate to seem overbearing.
At her quiet worry over the influx of malu, he nodded slowly and let his gaze drop as well. Looking back to her, he spoke hopefully with a silent smile, "Whatever might occur, I'm confident our Gods will have everything under control."

She nodded repeatedly as he spoke. Listening intently and finally speaking after he finished. "I'd love to go places with you, Brayden. A trip to the beaches would be amazing. Would be so fulfilling." SHe again dreamed silently of the beaches.
Coming back to her senses, she looked at him and nodded. "I'm sure you're right." She smiled, "The Gods have always looked after us and I'm sure they wouldn't give up or let us down now."

"We will go one day, Karma." He gave her a reassuring smile, tilting his head to one side as he watched her. "The Gods always know what they are doing - and even if we doubt them, they know what is best. That much we must never forget." He rose slowly, stretching his back legs before bowing his antlers to her slightly, "If you don't mind. It was a pleasure to meet you, Karma. I think I might head off to find a place for a short nap." His smile broadened, "Nice, sunny days call for short, relaxing periods of rest, don't you think?"

She nodded slowly. Enjoying that she would one day take her trip with him. She believed what he was saying. The Gods never disappointed their followers, which is why all malu chose a God or Goddess to follow.
"Alright, Brayden, I will leave you to your nap then." Her thoughts wandered for a moment. "I should be getting back to the pack. If you'd like to join me on the way I'd be happy to go with you. You could happily nap there. It's warmer than over here. The desert breeze is still relatively warm on a day like today."

He pondered her invitation for a moment, looking her over before looking around the temple. Was he ready to rejoin a pack? After a few seconds of silence, his smile broadened and once again he looked at her. Nodding, "I believe that sounds the best, actually. I'd love to accompany you there, Karma." His nap would wait, it was time to find a new place of belonging.
