Kismet wandered through a forest, reaching out to lightly brush finger tips against rough tree bark. Stopping beneath a large, rather healthy looking tree, he gave a light sigh and placed his palm to the trunk, feeling the unsually fragile bark beneath his skin. "The Quest is over and the sacrifice remains... I can see what those around me cannot. I see you in both your state as you are now, and yet in your advanced decay... as I see everything as it is and in advanced decay..." He whispered softly before turning, walking over to a stream and sitting down on the soft grass, peering into the water only to see healthy fish as rotting corpses in motion.
This didn't make the Angel Alpha 'twisted,' per se, but he definately was not 'normal' due to this fact. Though, he tended not to speak to anyone about it, letting them believe whatever they pleased about what he had done in the name of his Quest. Allow their minds to be creative and the like. There was no use in him spoiling the fun of their imaginations and creativity with the truth. He saw everything in advanced decay. Vampires were merely skeletons, the youth was pale gray and unhealthy, and the adults were just beginning to rot and decay.
Yes, there was no use in voicing this aloud to anything other than the fish and trees. Things that couldn't tell of it, the things that could be thought of as trustworthy merely because they lacked the use of words. If someone was intune enough to Nature, perhaps they could hear of his tale, but that would matter little to him. If someone did discover it, he wouldn't deny it. Kismet had accepted the fact of it already, and was who he was within his element of Destiny.

In a tree not far away - too far, however, to hear the confession of the alpha - his underling was perched, though neither was aware of the other's presence. Bastien liked to sit in trees, when no one else was around. The angel liked heights quite a bit, because...they were the only way he could reach towards the sky now.
He wasn't...actually moping, though. He'd done enough wallowing in self-pity for the first couple weeks after he completed his Quest. Just sitting and considering, one leg hanging down off the branch and the other pulled to his chest, an arm wrapped around it. An annoying concession to the imbalance of his wings when he was actually attempting to balance was the hand clutched loosely on the branch below him.
Funny that he still did like Nature, even when it had ******** him over so badly.
Well. It HAD been his choice. He could have said no, could have given up when the final sacrifice was demanded. Everyone had to make it, but his had been...
Cruel. To deprive an angel of his wings was simply cruel.

Leaning back to rests his hands behind him on the soft grass, he let out a soft sigh-- something sounding akin to the wind-- before something caught his attention from the corner of his eye. Turning his head, he looked towards the leg that was visable. A faint smile graced his lips as the angel Alpha stood and dusted himself off. He recognized that... scent-- the simplest way it could be described.
Slowly making his way to the tree-- taking his sweet, sweet time-- he leaned back against the tree and turned his eyes towards the sky. Slowly they shifted to drift towards his underling. His poor, poor underling.. His sacrifice had been so... unfairly cruel, but Kismet would not question the sacrifice the Quest had demanded.. That would question Nature, and perhaps even Destiny, which was something he would rather not do.
"Bastien," He said softly, allowing his smooth, rich, silken-like voice ride the air and hopefully reach the angel's ears. Bastien was the only creature he could see clearly, with no advanced decaying or simple skeletal structure. This brought a bit of a more genuine, though still faint, smile to his lips. He said nothing more, turning his eyes back to the sky. He wasn't so much asking for the other angel's attention as he was letting the other know he had arrived.
Kismet expected to either have a bit of attitude directed towards him for have taken so long, or be welcomed in a not-so-cheerful manner. Then again, he could be wrong. It was best not to assume or expect, just to let things happen naturally. The other had ever right to be upset with him, as it had taken him quite some time to finally show his face again, but his Quest was over... his final sacrifice had been made-- and no matter how disturbing his sacrifice was, he still couldn't help but wish that it had been Bastien's instead, so that his underling wouldn't have to carry the cruel, heavy burden of the acceptance that he could no longer fly. He could be productive now, discuss matters that Bastien felt needed to be discussed.

....You know, he really HAD thought he was alone. >> And...of all the people to find him here...
Though perhaps not the worst thing. Who else really understood, except Packleaders? None of them REALLY understood the trials and sacrefices of his fellow leaders, but there was general idea - the loss of something, either as small as the life you led before or as large as say...
A pair of wings. And always that new and heavy weight on one's shoulders. He still didn't really know why he had been singled out. Sure enough in social situation, was Bastien, but...
Aw hell. He peered down at the angel below him. "Kismet." A soft sigh, and he stretched out his legs along the branch. Wings flared for a moment - forgetting until he heard the sound of metal, at which point he frowned and closed them once more. Right. Can't jump down and spill the air. Can't make the steady landing.
He'd have to get down the way he had gotten up. Climbing. It didn't put him in the best mood, really, and the angel shakily stood up on the branch, knowing it would hold his weight. One hand on the trunk, he took one more moment up there, even closer to the sky now. Eyes slid closed as his face was upturned. The slight breeze moved his hair, and he pretended it was the wind rushing through it as he swooped and dove through cloudless sky.
A minute later, and he was on the ground once more, brushing bark off his pants and then off of his sleeves, turning to regard the form in front of him. "Hi." Not exactly accusational, but not particularly warm either. His arms were crossed over his chest, wings pulled in tight as they could go. "You're here."

Having respect for Bastien, he decided not to watch him as he stood and turned his head upward. It wasn't something he wanted to think about... wasn't something he enjoyed thinking about in the least. Bastien had been singled out, and as calm a person as Kismet was, it... quite literally it pissed him off-- but, again, he wouldn't dare question the sacrifices made during the Quests the Packleaders had ben sent on. Each lost something, and each gained something... Though, as in some cases, they lost more than they gained.
What kind of gift was walking up to a small child only to see it to be more dead than living? He supposed it had a purpose, and would that purpose would be shown at a later time... but in the mean time it was... unpleasant. Turning slightly to face Bastien, he pushed lightly off the trunk he had been leaning against, gently placing a hand against it. Instead of feeling the life surging through it, he felt the energy draining out of it and closed his eyes.
He opened his eyes again and-- Bastien. The only one he could look at and truely see as he was. The faint smile remained. Lifting his eyes to set them upon his underling, he gave a light chuckle. Ahhh - more or less what he was expecting - a rather mediocre greeting. "Hello," He responded softly. Another light chuckle escaped his slightly parted lips at the rather obvious statement. "Yes, I am here, Bastien."
"I... owe you an apology for having left you... alone on this for the time that I was gone... but seeing as I am back..." A pause, "... Would you enlighten me on what you have learned so far, Bastien?" He inquired lightly, glancing towards the tree as he removed his hand from the bark, lightly brushing the little splinters away with his other hand. "Perhaps, discuss it over by the stream," He suggested, being more relaxed by the sound of the bubbling water than anything else. It... allowed him to clear his mind and think on things over a more serious manner.

A small mercy, although if he had really meant to have a private moment, he wouldn't have actually done it with his Alpha just below him. Still...a kindness that didn't go unnoticed, when he had looked back down to begin the climb. He had growled all the way down, but...
"....S'okay." The angel finally answered, his wings resettling themselves a few times out of a bit of nervous energy. It was, in the end, a relief to see Kismet. To have someone else bear a little part of the burden - not all of it, he would have never felt right about that. But a little was alright, preferrable. "I'm sure you weren't doing it out of spite or anything...what you needed to do." God knows he understood the need to DEAL with things.
"...Yeah. Sure." The beta began to walk in that direction, tucking his hands into his pockets and scuffing his shoes slightly as he moved. "I...don't know ALL that much, but I can clue you in on a bit."

"Yes... what I needed to do," He echoed softly, although he didn't sound all too thrill about it.. which clearly indicated that the resulting gift wasn't all too pleasant for whatever he had sacrificed. Still-- not the time to dwell on that. Nodding his head lightly at his Beta, he turned and began to wak beside him, smiling faintly at the hands being tucked into pockets and the slight scuffing of shoes.
"Well... a clue is still better than going about things blindly. That would be like picking up a strainer for a weapon instead of a knife-- ridiculous," He stated with a light chuckle. Once they had approached the stream, he sat down and removed his shoes to reveal his oddly dainty feet. Crossing his legs at the ankles, he dipped his toes into the water before allowing his feet to submerge in the water, being careful so as not to get his pants damp.
Glancing up towards Bastien, he moved his hands backwards again, fingers running along the soft blades of grass. Setting them down firmly on the ground, he leaned back on them and stared out over the rippling water, listening to the sound of water rushing over rocks-- creating the light bubbling sound. He didn't ask Bastien to sit with him, just being around the other was good enough for him. It was a large relief to finally look upon someone and actually see them, and it was an even bigger relief that it was Bastien... He couldn't phathom what it would be like to look upon his underling to see him dying rather than living.

The angel sat somewhere beside him anyway, without being prompted - it would have been uncomfortable to remain standing, and every moment he spent around Kismet was lessening that initial annoyance of 'where the hell is he?' significantly. He sat crosslegged, reaching out to trail his fingers in the stream.
"...True." And Bastien smiled, just...slightly...but slightly nonetheless. "I haven't managaged to do a full tour - there are...a whole lot of angels about... - but from what I can tell, there aren't any very large troublemakers." Swish, swish, swish. "And I've only met two other packleaders - the Coon Beta; Atticus, and the Lamia Alpha; Nykoa. From...what I can tell, none of the packleaders are particularly active in sheparding their respective packs, nor do they have a good handle on who makes up said packs..." He frowned. "I've been thinking of calling a meeting of all the angels who are willing to get together - let them meet us and scope out troublemakers." He glanced at Kismet for his reaction, smiling a little wider. "Was just...waiting for you." A small chuckle.

Instantly, Kismet's nose wrinkled in distaste at the information sliding from Bastien's lips. Packleaders not doing their jobs? Slacking off? Not trying to call at least some form of order to their said packs? That... made his smile turn into a frown as he scowled towards the water. How lazy could they be? They sounded completely and utterly useless, not to mention uncaring about their packs. Did they sacrifice for nothing, merely to say they had done it?
Shaking lightly, feathers fluffing out in distaste, he pushed the feelings aside. That was their problem-- this Alpha and Beta weren't going to follow that example. Glancing towards Bastien to see that the smile had widened, a soft look entered his eyes as he smiled a little more genuinely in return. "Well, I think you have done a fair bit of thinking... and I can't say I disagree with you at all. I... can't even begin to imagine how we would progress in our lives if we followed their ill example," He stated softly, but the light smile stayed on his lips. "When, and how, would you like to hold this meeting?"
Thinking on it for a moment, he reached up and brushed stray strands of white hair from his face, closing his eyes for a moment as his feet swayed to and fro in the water, just slightly. "I... imagine there will be plenty of angels, and not to mention crossbreeds," At the mention of crossbreeds, his nose once again wrinkled lightly in distaste before he pushed the expression away.

Bastien was delighted at being able to actually spring into action now. To DO SOMETHING, instead of sitting around and planning things. It was making him antsy, the waiting around. That and Kismet's response - the fact that he wasn't very keen on sitting around either. It made the angel smile a little more, still swishing his fingers around in the water. "...Well. As for when, I'm not...entirely sure. Soon. As soon as we can, I guess. How...I'm not entirely sure how to get the message out. Maybe...put up a sign or two in the shop? Try to get people to get the word out. There are a few angels in the building where I'm staying, and they must have friends who have friends who have - well. Yeah. You get the picture." It might be diffcult though, not that he hadn't thought of that.
...Huhn. "Yeah, there's bound to be quite a few. And...what about crossbreeds? What do you think? I suppose we shouldn't exclude them..." But he made a face as well.

Kismet closed his eyes and lowered his head in thought. Sitting up, he reached out and gently touched the water with his finger tips, opening his eyes to stare down at his reflection. Casting a glance towards Bastien, he gave a warm smile and a little shrug. "I know we shouldn't exclude them... and if we can talk to the other pack leaders, perhaps we can make the crossbreeds feel a little more comfortable... Less pressed to come to just one pack leader."
Closing his eyes again, he sighed softly and leaned back on his hands once more. "I live with two Angels... Angellus is... dating a coon and Raecelyn... can't touch other living creatures," He said softly with a frown. Something nearly equally cruel for an Angel besides having his wings taken away, would be to live without the gift of touch. Not being able to comfort and soothe through contact - Kismet couldn't even begin to phathom what that would ever be like.
"I'll have Angellus and Raecelyn get in contact with any Angels they may know, or that they may meet... and we can post signs out and about in the shop. Either way, I'm sure many will turn up eventually," He said softly before turning his head to look at Bastien. "In the mean time, we can discuss what issues we would like to bring to our pack. After we get done with that, we can go in search of other pack leaders..."
