Rules ~1. Don't post here unless you're a shop mod or a cirque player who I am either RPing with or who is dropping off a gift. Or like, doing top-secret-and-super-awesome-shop-mod stuff. That's cool, too. ~2. Turn your signature off. ~3. Don't steal Lucrezia, her art, or this journal layout. ~4. Please don't create a concept with the exact same skills. I know that Aerial Silks and Trapeze are pretty broad, but I'm sure there is something you can do to make your act special and different from mine. As they say, "You've gotta get a gimmick." ~5. I reserve the rights to change these rules and ban users from this thread.
Attention Questers: It's perfectly fine if you use trapeze and/or Aerial Silks in your act since they're rather common concepts. Just, please find ways to differentiate your character from Lucrezia in terms of design and the ways they incorporate these forms. We'll get along just fine!
Sincerely, Silverah

About Lucrezia
Full Name: Lucrezia Falco Nicknames: Lukie, Gosse, Lu, Luc, Lucy Gender: Female Age: 17 Talent: Trapeze and Aerial silks Eye color: Brown Hair color: Brown Height: 64 inches / 5' 4" Weight: 115 lbs
Personality: As far as physical stunts are concerned, Lucrezia is nearly fearless, capable of performing as effortlessly in the air as most can on the ground. Psychologically, she is slightly squeamish, especially at the sight of gross bodily injury or around the freak show. An admittedly intelligent girl, she possesses a quick wit, a kind manner, and a dedicated work effort. The fact that many people do not share that last quality annoys her to no end, and she has a great dislike for people she sees as "slackers" who don't pull their own weight. She greatly respects performers who are masters of their crafts, though, and hopes to be among their ranks someday. Unfortunately, for all her goal-oriented-ness, she is almost too serious and driven, which many people find to be an off-putting factor. She also needs to learn how to relax, a skill she has had difficulty mastering, and can psyche herself out on occasion over trivial matters. The trapeze, aerial silks, and great hights are a constant source of exhilaration for her. She loves them regardless of performing, and any chance she gets she can be found working on them. Unfortunately, Lu is a bit too wrapped up in her work. She has difficulty dragging herself away and focusing on other people, which ends with her coming off as a bit conceited. She's grown up in such an environment that she is naturally a bit flirty because it is totally normal to her, but also in such a way that she is nearly incapable of going beyond that - she was her home circus's baby. Everyone tried to protect her. Likes: Vegetables, performing, that feeling of weightlessness you get from the trapeze, carnival music, bright colors, friendly people, talented people. Dislikes: Lazy people, overcooked food, large animals, lazy people, polluted worlds, really really weird freaks, and not to mention lazy people.
Childhood and history: Though it is not known for certain and the records were lost, it can be presumed that Lucrezia either comes from a large family with too many children, or is the accidental offspring of an unfortunate young unwed woman. Whatever the case, she was left with a firmly stationary circus in Rome while still an infant. She was a rather unremarkable child, but the cirque's head trapeze artist, a man by the name of Paolo Falco, took a liking to her and took her in as an adoptive daughter and apprentice (it was sometimes rumored that he was the reason she had been dropped off at the circus in the first place, rather than an orphanage, but no conclusive evidence was ever drawn.) Lucrezia, as a result, grew up surrounded in the bright and colorful tradition (In her world, at least, where it was considered a valid and respectable art form) of Italian and French circus arts (though she was never exposed to the wonders of the "freak show," since her circus did not have one.) Paolo trained her in the arts of trapeze and aerial silk and allowed her to perform with him starting when she was eight or so. After Paolo’s death, Lucrezia felt lost at the Cirque where she had grown up, since he was no longer there to perform acts with her. With her mentor’s last words to her, “Gosse, tu vas voler” (roughly translated: “Kid, you’re gonna fly,”) still fresh in her mind, Lucrezia made the professional decision to audition with the Cirque du Coeur Torve as it passed through.
Font color: Size 9 bold orange Hidden past! Highlight to read! Whether or not Paolo was actually Lucrezia's father doesn't matter, because as far as she was concerned he was. His death, which she is more than reluctant to speak about the details of, came about by way of an accident durring a show. Paolo refused to use a safety net in one of his acts, and a cable supporting his silks ribbon broke. He fell nearly four stories to the floor of the tent, breaking his back. The show was immediately ended and the crew gathered around. He died within the hour.
Lucrezia tries not to think about it, especially while performing or practicing because she knows she'll become too nervous to keep going if she does. She is not ready to talk openly about it and if prompted will attempt to change the subject.

About the Franciscan Empire
Type A world Sometime in the past, a French power known as the Franciscan Empire took control of much of the Mediterranean world. That being said, the Rome Lucrezia hails from is very different from its counterpart in our world’s Renaissance. The city is a bustling, colorful place full of art, music, and the rich tradition of the big top. (The Catholic church does not exist in this world, as the Franciscan Empire, rather than the Roman Empire, took control. Christianity, which exists in a very different form, is based in Paris, which is much more similar to the Rome of our world’s Renaissance.) In Lucrezia’s Rome, the old ways of the ancient Romans, such as their gods and beliefs, still survive despite French being the primary language, with Italian, nothing more than a regional deviation of it that evolved over centuries of Franciscan rule. Performers of any kind are held in high regard in this world.
Hey! Lu speaks unaccented english, but Charlot and Philippe and Iosef all have accents! What's up? Lu doesn't speak english on her own. There's cirque magic feeding her the words, but she has to concentrate. The english language in her world is not like the modern english language, so it's impossible she would speak it. If she's not focusing on speaking english (like early in the morning, late at night, etc,) or if she just doesn't feel like it, everything she says is her French/Italian hybrid mother tongue.

Acquaintances
Friends
Aiden- The first friend I made at the cirque, and the ringmaster/my mentor. There's something sinister about him, but I can't pin it down. 4/10
Wing Ting- One of my roomates. Easily excitable and very childish. 4/10
Charlot- So, what do we owe each other? I've got to go see your show, and you've got to take me ice skating? (Whatever that is.) But such a gentleman. I know some people who could stand to learn a thing or two from Char. 5/10
Iosef- He's crazy, but I can't help but like him. 4/10
Aemilia- There's something to be said about a girl who can lift 70lb metal balls and make things vanish. I'm just not sure what. And apparently I'm her mentor? 3/10
Hazina- Nice girl. She speaks excellent french, bandaged my finger, and we chatted about the show and traveling. I think that if I see her a few more times we could be very good friends. 4/10
Neutral Ankita- Pretty nice, and kind of cool despite that she accidentally pelted me with fruit. 2/10
Sarava- Ankita's Aye-aye. Obesessed with melon. 2/10
Maxem- Clean-freak room-mate. Has explosives in the trailor? Just minor ones, she says, but it still makes me uneasy. On the whole, though, I think we get along. 3/10
Scarlett- Came off as a bit aloof, to be honest. 2/10
Rasui- He seemed nice, and he's apparently a wonderful cook, but something about him gives me the creeps. 3/10
Enemies
Hadrian- Jerk. 1/10
Grete- Honestly? I have no idea. 1/10

About Aerial Silks and Trapeze
Aerial Silks (also known aerial tissue/tissu, aerial silk, ribbon, aerial fabric, aerial ballet in silk, aerial contortion or aerial curtain or even Contorsion au de Silk) is a circus art where a performer or performers hang and perform acrobatics while suspended by a special fabric. The performer/acrobat climbs the suspended fabric usually 20-35 feet high. Performers use no safety lines and rely only on their training and skill to ensure safety. Most tricks on silks are impossible to spot using safety lines. There are too many tricks that involve dynamic drops and wrapping around the body to use a spot line; it becomes more of a liability than anything else and carries a serious risk of hanging. The performer/acrobat uses the fabric to: wrap, suspend, fall, swing, and spiral their body into and out of various positions. Aerial routines are a display of athleticism and flexiblity, and exciting entertainment. Tissu silks may be used as a form of aerial straps, and men (rarely women) use them to fly through the air, striking poses and figures while flying.
Trapeze is the overall name for a collection of closely related aerial apparatus. All trapezes are horizontal cross-bars used by acrobats (more specifically, "aerialists"). It is often popularly associated with circuses. The trapeze (occasionally abbreviated to trap) is a short bar that is hung by two cords from a support higher up; when these cords and the support are included, the trapeze is shaped like a trapezoid. Common forms of the trapeze include: Static trapeze refers to a trapeze act in which the performer moves around the bar and ropes while the bar itself stays mostly in place. The difficulty on a static trapeze is making every move look effortless. It is like dance in that most people of a reasonable level of strength can get onto the bar for the first time and do the tricks but an experienced artist will do them with infinitely more grace and style. Swinging trapeze or Swinging Single trapeze refers to an act done while the trapeze swings. For an example of this discipline, watch the trapeze act in Alegria. The performer builds up swing from a still position, and uses the momentum of the swing to execute their tricks. There are many tricks that are only possible on a swinging trapeze and most of them are far more difficult than tricks on a static trapeze. Usually these tricks are thrown on the peaks of the swing and involve exceptional dynamic movements that require excellent timing. Most of the tricks begin with the performer sitting or standing on the bar and end with the performer catching the bar in his/her hands or in an ankle hang (hanging off of the ankles by bracing them between the rope and the bar. Flying trapeze refers to a trapeze act where a performer, or "flyer," grabs the trapeze bar and jumps off a high platform, or pedestal board, so gravity creates the swing. The swing's parts are the cast out at the far end of the first swing, the beat back and rise as the performer swings back above the pedestal board, and then the trick is thrown at the far end of the second swing. The performer often releases the bar and is caught by another performer, the "catcher," who hangs by his knees on another trapeze, or sometimes on a cradle, which can be either stationary or also swinging. A flyer rarely weighs more than about 68 kg (150 pounds) to avoid damaging the catcher's shoulders, although people of any size are able to execute basic trapeze maneuvers. Flying trapeze is done over a net, or occasionally over water for a special exhibition.
Lucrezia uses both Aerial Silks and Static/Swinging trapeze in her act. She has received training in the Flying form, but doesn't use it.
