The day was clear and hot, as the sun beat down on the desert sands without mercy. Elina walked slowly with her head down as she panted slightly from the heat, finally having slowed her running a while after the temple had left her sights. They hadn't followed her, Mythos and Amadeus....something in her mind wished they would have - yet her heart knew otherwise. The emotions she had felt the day she met Mythos had flooded back, her disbelief and loss of hope...the loss of faith in her goddess.

Her eyes dry and partially red from her tears and the sand, the young green and orange femme sighed....could she go back? She still loved Mythos like a Father....yet the news that her own flesh and blood couldn't stand her made her heart cry in pain. Not to mention how bad Amadeus felt for her...she had wished to be back with those two more than anything. Yet Elina knew much better, she simply wouldn't be the same if she went back now...no....she needed to find some answeres before she could think of returning. Looking up, she noticed she was approaching a small oasis, and quickly trotted under one of the few palm trees to get out of the sun, moving to drink lightly from the small pond which lay in the center.

Death.

It fascinated the orange-speckled malu to no end, to think and see a spirit leave its shell....Elysia almost thought that if she tried, she could watch it zoom off, jubilant at its newfound freedom. Of course, she had only seen this sort of passing in bugs, small animals, small spirits...never anything large enough or concious of itself enough to really be sure that it went on. She thought that perhaps the only way to prove or disprove her theory would be to taste death herself. But then...

There was life.

Abundant, green, and vast, life was one excitement and discovery after another. It was more predictable than the unknown that death tended to be, and yet it too was interesting enough to keep her watching it. And so, here she was...in life amid death. In other words, a lush oasis, surrounded by the barren and stark desert. She lay beneath a tree, beside a spring...but she could also observe the dust and solitude of the sands around her. All was quiet, quiet....but what was that? Something-somebody, she corrected herself as the shape got closer- had stumbled upon her thoughts! Oh, huzzah! Glorious day! A subject to observe! She stood silently, sidling over to the new object of her curiosity.

In the midsts of lapping the water into her prached mouth, something seemed to feel awry to her. Pausing in mid lap with her tongue sticking out, her soft brown eyes scanned the area, only to catch something moving out of the corner of her eye. Tilting her head slightly in that direction, her eyes caught a mix of white, orange and black....and thats when all hell broke loose.

"AHHH!" She screamed, stumbling back as she promtly fell on her rump with wide eyes. Yet upon the second she could actually observe this Malu...she realized it was not Aion...yet a female with the same colours on her own pelt. Tilting her head to the side moreso, she blinked at this Maluess, wondering what she was doing in the first place sneaking up on her like that. Smiling slightly, as she reminded herself that no-one could be prooved untill they did something, Elina would assume this Maluess would be kind.

"Hello...there." She spoked, her vocals trying to be cheery despite her sour mood. "Who're you?"

Elysia blinked as the other shreiked at her. How odd. And how...annoying. Intriguing. She sat down. "H'lo." she greeted aimiably, blinking in quiet examination of this new potential subject of study. "I'm Elysia, or Lysi. Pleasure to meet y'h. Who're you?"

Okay so maybe she was a little blunt. But she did mean well, and this might have been apparent through her easy smile, should one have cared to interpret it as such. "Funny place for y'to be. Why so far away from ev'r'bdy else?" A loner, perhaps? An exile? A hermit? A runaway? The possibilities were endless, or almost so, and she waited eagerly for the response to be given to her.

Smiling sheepishly as Elysia introduced herself, Elina have a curt nod to the older femme in greetings before answering her questions. "My name is Elina. I'm sorry for screaming...you look a lot like someone I know...who's kinda scary." She confessed quietly, figuring she had been pretty rude, and would definately be weirded out if someone had screamed at her.

Blinking at the sudden question that hit the nail right on the head, she tilted her head to the left to look back at the water. Elysia was right...it must have been odd for her to be so far from home. "Well...I ran away. I really needed some time to figure out a few answers to my qyestions." Elina stated in a off-key tone, looking back to Elysia, "Its nice to meet you too, Elysia. May I ask why you're here at this Oasis as well?"

"Scary?" Elysia asked blandly, canting her head to the side. "How's'hey scary?" She hadn't really seen much of anybody else, but she hadn't seen anybody that she would describe as 'scary'. But then, she didn't fear much.

Ahhhh. So she was a runaway. But...why would she run here? The desert didn't seem like the best place to go, to those who feared dying, as most did. "What quesshins?" she asked curiously, before adressing Elina's own question directed at her. "You may. M'observing th'contrast b'tween life and death."

Elina shuddered softly remembering what Aion had done to Amadeus, trying to put what she felt into words. "His name is Aion...and he's pretty scary. Talking much about sacrifices to his god, he's violent, and has a lot of pent up rage inside. He just kinda...oozes evil, he likes to cause others pain." Elina looked up at Elysia, seeing she did have a much different design to her own pelt, yet from a glance anyone would have been mistaken by their similar colours.

"Questions? I'm not too sure. I guess I really need to find out why my parents abandoned me, although I know i'm not the first it's happened to. I feel like i'm losing grip with everything my Goddess taught me....its concerning." She admitted, listing her paw up and scratching her cheek lightly before turning her gaze to Elysia, confused. "I thought the contrast was obvious between life..and death?" Really, when you're dead...you're dead. And when you're alive, you're alive. Elina didn't know much about such a subject...and yet she also hoped she never would find out.

"Pain's int'resting..." Elysia mused, then grinned at the younger female in what she hoped was a reassuring manner. "Wha'sorta God's he worship, tha'demands a sacrifice?" She too had often wondered at pain and pleasure, and feelings at all...but she found death and life so much more interesting. She herself had no God or Goddess that she knew of for that which governed her life- Balance. The weight between death and life, good and evil, right and wrong, pain and pleasure. Perhaps this... 'Aion' would know something, if he liked pain quite so much.

"I don' r'member my parents..." Elysia commented airily, though she wondered why she'd never thought of them..not even once. "Who'syer Goddess, tha'ye feel yer losing?" She didn't comment on Elina's observations about her thoughts on death and life....if she didn't understand, perhaps it was best to let the subject be, with her.

"It is?" Elina blinked softly, pain...well, it hurt. How could that be something interesting? She really did not get this Maluess, she seemed to be so keep on aspects which otherwise one wouldn't want to even think about. Thinking back, Elina tried to recall what Aion had said about his god, before answering, "Well...I think he did say he worshipped the God of Heartless Malice...yeah, thats it! Yet something else seems to be wrong with his god, from what I have gathered." Shaking her head, her small green tail wagged slightly.

"You don't? Does it not make you sad that you don't rember them, and they're not here?" She tilted her head, amazed at this Maluess in a sense...even though she was an adult, how could one not think of their parents? "My Goddess is of Everlasting Hope. Lately...I feel like I just can't understand her as well as I used to." Her ears drooped slightly, feeling quite alone without the comfort of her Goddess whispering in her ear.

"Th'God of Heartless Malice..." she repeated, and then gave a slight shake of her head. No, no...he couldn't be one that understood as she understood, if he desired to be without a heart. "Wron'with? Wha'could be wron' with'im?" She had somewhere gotten the notion that the gods and goddesses were perfect reditions of that which they embodied. Hmm.

"Sad...neh." she replied vaguely to the subject of her parents. As far as she was concerned, she had never known them, and that was that. She didn't mind, though of course she was grateful to the one who had birthed her. "Ah, littlie'un..." she sighed, a bit of a smile reaching her eyes. "'Tis a lovely thing, t'is, to hear of un such's you with a Goddess so clear. M'shure your Goddes hasn' forgotten yeh...perhaps you've shut 'er out in your fear o'this Aion?"

Lowering her eyes lightly, Elina knew many things was wrong with Aion...yet one thing struck her as strange. "Well, Elysia...Aion's god...from what I have seen seems to be in conflict with another. Its like he had two gods...its strange. Yet I don't think he is supposed to kill as he has...it doesn't seem like his god is about that." She cocked her head slightly, it was hard to put...yet her goddess seemed to pity Aion...which led Elina to find out more about the mysterious male who had tormented Amadeus and his family. What a horrible sight that had been.

What was more shocking...was that She seemed to not be saddened by her parents not being around. Lowering her head slightly, she knew she had a wonderful Goddess....she had never been untrue to Elina...and in essence, she turned her back on her faith. Listening to this Maluess, was she really afraid of Aion? "I....I don't know. After what he did to Amadeus....I was unable to help or stop it. I couldn't protect him from Aion...." She admitted, shyly.
