It's 2:00 AM... No one but me is home. I went out into the kitchen to get a brownie((lawlz)) and I noticed that a lamp in the living room is on. The strange thing is that before my mother left, I put the other lamp on in the living room. If I didn't switch the lights, who did?
This isn't the first thing that's happened in this house either. D:
The house I live in has been vacant for twelve years, prior to us living here. I don't think anyone died in the house, but it seems like it from the stuff that happens.

I'm not the type to beleive in the super-natural, but when I was 4-7 I always hated going into the downstairs/basement of my grandparents house. I used to hang out down there a lot though because that's where their computer was (XD). While I was playing tetris down there I always felt cold, and even when I knew my grandparents were upstais I always felt like somebody was in the next room that was connected to the computer room. I must have gotten up to check a million times, but it was always empty of course.
So I find out a few years later after they sell the place that my great grandfather died in the house and in that very bedroom that was connected, and just get the chills thinking about that sorta thing now! >_<
Strange things happen in my current house too, my stereo has turned on in the middle of the night and I'll hear the door open and shut when nobody is home, but I chose to ignore it. I can't stand the thought of living somewhere haunted. It's one of the few things that actually scare me.

XD Really? Even after weird stuff like that happens, you still wouldn't believe?
I'm so scared of spiritual stuff and other unexplainable things. D: I have trouble falling asleep if I hear noises or see something weird.

Unfortunately, I don't think my house is haunted. v.v;; I think that my grandmothers is though! o.o The hallway always creaks even though no ones walking down it and it's always cold in her house. My sister said that she heard breathing coming from one of the air vents that lead downstairs! ._. I've always felt like there had to be something in that house. Especially downstairs! -shudders-

Well, while I do believe in the supernatural, I prefer to tie everything in with religion as well. But I won't get into that. o.o Anyway, not much weird has happened to me except that I used to think I was a Sailor Senshi. I remember shortly after my Grandpa died my Grandma saw his favorite chair rocking for no reason then shortly after that something fell off the TV with no momentum. Um... what else? XD;; Besides the dogs barking at nothing outside I guess that's it... but that happens all the time. I think I'm more paranoid of robbers and kidnappers than the supernatural.

Oh, I definitely believe in ghosts to an extent. I've never really believed in "possesion" though. D=
The thing is, I don't know what to believe about it exactly. I've read a couple books about hauntings. I think they've said what a ghost is is really just like an imprint rather than a whole thinking spirit or creature with a will of it's own. I wish I could remember the explination exactly. It made a lot of sense. I'm not very spiritual or religious or anything so scientific explinations always interest me more, but I don't find many.
What do you guys think ghosts are?
If you've thought about it anyway, and do you think movies are a good representation of what hauntings are really like? They always sorta bug me. =(

I think that lots of people have a hard time believing in ghosts because of Hollywoodised insights to what a ghost should really be. Flying bed sheets and rabid translusent peeps xD.
I don't think ghosts are like that. My belief is that they spirits who are unable to pass into the next world, because either they are awaiting judgement (kind of like purgatory) or have had judgement passed and it has been decided that they should right some wrongs, possibly reincarnation on very rare occasions. I suppose it really comes down to faith, individual opinions and open-mindedness.
I know somehow this is going to bring me onto a rant about misconceptions about angels.
As for possession, it's harder for me to give an opinion, I think that the stuff they show on tv is crap, it's always the same everytime, it's probably read from a script. Always people who have died in a tragic way out for revenge or something stupid like that. Saying that I do believe that possesion does occur. For instance the Saq ritual is a controled possesion which enables contact with Netjer (God, Supreme being etc). I don't really wish to go into matters of religion seeing as my Kemetic/Hindu beliefs are my own and should really be shared with members of my own faith(s).
Ultimatly everyone is always going to have different views, whether they are hardcore Christians or excentric film makers. That's what makes us human.
Anyway, I don't think any of the houses I have ever lived in have been haunted. Although my mom says when I was younger I used to talk to people who weren't there. I don't even remember it, so it's hard to belive. Plus the fact that my mom is kind of crazy.

Hmmm... I think ghosts are spirits that are not in the afterlife when they should be. Perhaps bound to earth by something or refusing to leave earth, although I don't believe in Purgatory personally. And I believe in posession as well, though not any sort of 'good' possesion.

It's not really a spirit with a free will, it's more the spirit of a person that doesn't know that they've died (Or won't accept it.) or they died tragically. They're trying to cling to life and it leaves them in a sort of limbo between dead and alive... That I think. ^^
By the way, have you guys heard of the Philidelphia Project? o.o

She says someone who people believed was possesed was going to have the possesion exorcised and my mom went with them to pray. She said that during the exorcism the person finally seemed to be unpossesed then a dog that was in the room started acting all crazy and possesed right afterwords. I'm scared of paranormal stuff too. I don't have a clue what the truth about ghosts are and I don't care to find out. D:
I just want all that stuff to stay away from me. I'm happy that my house isn't haunted and that even if it was, I'm probabbly never home alone anyway. *shivers*

I dunno I guess it was in the 1940's. The navy was testing some kind of device that was suppost to make the ships invisible. They tested it and it worked, but the ship didn't reappear when it should have. A few minutes later, they had heard something about the ship being sighted nearly 400 miles (I think.) away. It was suppost to have traveled all that way in less than 5 minutes. o.o Anyway, some people went to pick up the crew that was on the ship, but a bunch of weird things had happened to them. Some had burns all over them, some had gone insane, some disappeared, but there were also suppost to be some that had fused with the metal hull of the ship. o.o Anyway, I thought that it was weird and worth mentioning since we were talking about paranormal stuff. ^^ If any of you are interested, you can read about it here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_Experiment

I liked the way the movie was done. With the whole trial taking place with the flashbacks happening at the same time. I'll give it props for that. It was a nifty set up, but the horror was sorta silly. The only part that was actually scary to me was when things kept happening in the apartment at 3 am or whatever they called the "witching hour". Like when the lady (I think it was the investigator, not Emily) heard someone in her apartment and went to check it out and there would be weird shadows and the door would suddenly slam. & then it happened a couple more times all at the same time of night. It was so eerie I could barely watch that part gonk
& I haven't heard of the Philidelphia project either. Is it a ghost hunt?! o.o
