It was a particularly warm day, almost to warm. Gabriel was almost at the point where he did not want to dance around everywhere he went… almost. Trying to dodge the sun, by dancing from shadow to shadow, testing to see how few steps it took to reach the shade. With spins, prances, elegant little leaps with paws and hooves pointed in front and back of his. His landing where still slopping, and he knew his form needed a lot of work. but he loved dancing to much to get discouraged by it.

No day had ever been too warm for Larkin. Amused, he watched the little Malu dancing along in the shade. He was stretched out on a nearly flat roof. Lately he'd been spending his time on top of the temple buildings rather than within them, managing to avoid shade most efficiently this way, the welcome perspiration which gathered his fur into damp spikes acting as prayers to his god.
"Wouldn't it be easier," he called down to the dancer, curiosity barely keeping his voice from languishing in an idle drawl, "if you embraced the sun rather than avoiding it?"

Kamin emerged from the temple, having just finished a prayer session. He walked out into the blinding sunlight, and immediatley wished he hadn't. Though he was used to heat and bright lights, he wasn't one of those Malu who took it all in and ignored it. Sure, he took it in stride, but he learned how to keep his stride in the shade and how to keep cool at a young age. He backed up, back in to the temple's cooling shade, and shook his head muttering. It would take a short while for his eyes to comfortabley adjust to the light change.
And then he spotted him. That little pipsqueek from the fountains, the one who had splashed and harrassed him a few days before. He was quite a spunky Malu, that was for sure. Kamin, however, had little patience that day for games. "What are you doing, Gabriel?"

He was in mid twirl when he heard someone calling down to him. Distracted for a moment, he stumbled to the ground falling on his chest “Oof!” he grunted, then sat up and looked around for the voice that had called him. When he had found the Malu, he was a bit surprised to see that it was a fully grown Male, sun basking on the roof. Gabriel blinked a couple of times staring up at the purple male before pushing himself to his feet and falling back “I don wanna” yelling a little louder then he needed to “iz to hot, it make my feet have ouch” He blinked a couple more times at the adult “Why you up der?”

Seeing Kamin hiding in the shade as well, Larkin smiled and sighed and stood up. These Malu, he thought to himself. They don't know what they're missing.
"Gabriel, is it?" He launched himself from the roof and used his wings to slow his fall a bit, landing heavily in the sand. "I was just enjoying the sun." His mane was damp with sweat and he shook it from his eyes. The gray Malu asked what Gabriel was doing, so Larkin sat back contentedly and hooded his eyes, not feeling that he needed to talk any more.

Gabriel’s mouth fell open as he saw the Adult Malu glide down; it was impressive to the little one to see the wings being used by an adult. His where still to small to really do anything with, and he wondered is he would be able to use them like that someday. “woooow” he said still gapping at the Purple Malu “how you do dat? Show me!” he demanded, Ignoreing Karmin for a moment after looking over at the sharky Malu

"I just showed you," he said reasonably. He didn't want to encourage little children to go throwing themselves off of rooftops in the hope that their wings would slow them down. Maybe changing the subject would get the kid to think of something safer. "What are you doing out here, anyway? It looked to me like you were dancing."

his pouted his face, frowning at the purple Malu. "noo! I wanna do it, show me how!" though he was easily distracted when the topic of dancing came up. he hopped up on all four legs and did a little twirl, ending in an elegant pose facing him. Draping his hair down in front of his face "I waz dancing" he said with a cocky grin "can YOU dance?"

Larkin raised his eyebrows. Should have expected that if he was going to talk about dancing with a Malu who apparently enjoyed it, he was going to have to end up doing it as well. He was relieved to have escaped the subject of gliding, at least, so he decided to play with the boy a bit.
"Well I don't know. Why don't you show me how? It looks pretty hard."

“yup” he replied, strutting forward a couple of steps. One paw lightly stepping outside the shade. Feeling very warm on his soft young paw. He draw it back starring down at the ground. Then back up at the Malu, pretending it didn’t happen “I dun know” he said turning away “onwy people da goddess wikes can dance” he grinned “and she wikes me. are you sure? You won’t cwy if you can’t do it will you?”

He put on a brave face, swallowing hard as if he was actually worried. Pretending along with Gabriel that he hadn't seen him draw his paw back from the heat. "I'll do my best." He straightened up and watched attentively, his smile slight enough that he was pretty sure it wouldn't be seen. "I sure hope the goddess likes me."

"maybe" he shrugged. he paused for a moment, stareing at the Malu. as he reolized... he did not know the first thing about teaching another how to dance. "umm.... ok so... fiwst... you do this!" he said straitening his stance, curving his back down a little to give more shape to it. and slideing a paw elegently in front of the other. "den... you spiwn" he said jumping into a till basic twirl

"All right..."
Larkin imitated the spin, but only made it part of the way around and sprayed sand when his paws hit the ground again. His wings and legs stuck out at odd angles as he caught his balance. Pretty cute kid, he thought, glancing at Gabriel for an evaluation of his attempt. And much more graceful than I am apparently.

Gabriel giggles madly at the position the adult had ended up in. ”noo noo” he cooed “you’s gatta jump Hiiiigh!” he said, doing the twirl again and ending in the first position he did. “bawk wegs come down last” He was amused that this adult was actually doing that he said, most would just pat him on the head, smile and call him cute… till he kicked sand in there butts and fled.

He'd been playing around before, not trying very hard to get the spin right because he knew that little kids liked seeing adults make fools of themselves, so now he decided to actually do it right. Didn't want Gabriel to get frustrated with him. He backed up a little, made a show of squinting his eyes and focusing, and flung himself up and around. This time, his back legs skidded out from under him and he landed on his side.
"Woah!" He tried to laugh off his surprise as he hurried upright. Could he really not do it right? "Let me try again-- I can do it," he assured Gabriel. He spun again, and this time he managed to stay standing and to turn all the way around, though he still sprayed the sand with his hooves.
With the back of his paw he wiped his damp face and goatee, grinning sheepishly at the child. "I think I've got it..."
