Okay, I'm really starting to feel like I'm the only black girl in my school without a perm. I've got nothing against them, but the number of ladies wearin their hair au natural is definitely falling.

I keep getting singled out becuase of my hair. Evey one's all "Nichole, you should bet a relaxer- you're hair is so long!" but I'm all "No, I'd like to keep it that way, thanks."

I just think it's silly. What's the point of getting your hair straightened? So it'll be straight, yeah. So your hair won't look like a black person's hair any more. God forbid you should wear it the way god intended. I don't understand why having "black people hair" is such a bad thing, or why so many black people seem to think it's so ugly.

It really bothers me. stare

At the beginning of the school year, this girl came into class with an afro. Not an outrageous on, but an afro none the less. Every one teased her for wearing it to school despite the fact that they had all been born with the same hair.

wtf? gonk

People are stupid. xp

I stopped getting perms. I haven't had a perm in over a year now. I got sick of the mentality that there's something wrong with a black girl who doesn't have straight hair.

Besides, my hair is healthier now that I don't have perms than it's been in years.

I see nothing wrong with natural hair either, I had my hair worn natural until I was 14. The reason I got a perm wasn't so that I'd fit in better, but because my hair was becoming too much of a hastle and I didn't want to cut it. If I could wear my hair natural, but it'd still be manageable, I would never perm it.

I do get perms but I been wearing my hair natural since the being of this year. I might get one at the end of the year though.

I dont like geting perms or putting grease in my hair. I like wear my hair all crinkly like after i take some braids down. I usually just wash it and put some baby in it. I wanted to dye my hair, like keysha cole but with red and white (like a fox) and my bf was like ''a black girl with colored hair...thats retarded.'' stare

Let's look at the positive, shall we?? biggrin The fact that not many black girls go it Natural these days makes your hair unique if you should choose to keep it Natural, right? There is nothing wrong with wearing your hair Natural, but there is also nothing wrong with perming/straightening it. Neither is better, both are just different. It's the same with wearing makeup versus not wearing makeup, or for our fairer-skinned counterparts, getting a tan or not getting one. neutral It's no big deal. People meant well when they told me I should get my hair relaxed because it was so long, blah, blah, blah. Sometimes people aren't trying to hurt you when they suggest that you change something about yourself.

I totally agree. My stepmom forced me to get a perm I didn't want. She didn't put it in well and my hair fell out. I think you should wear your hair the way you want it not the way others tell you to.

You know what's also annoying?

How every frickin' person around me says I need to get a perm, as if I'll die without one! stressed

*sigh*

When will they all realize that I don't want anymore perms? stare

If I get a perm, I'll cut all my hair off and really give them something to talk about! scream
