It hadn't been so long ago since Karama had given birth, everything seemed to have gone by so quickly to the leopardess, and before she knew it, her son that had been no bigger than her paw was already sneaking off. Small gren eyes peeked from bushes, then a content cub slipped out from between them. Not that Usiku was a troublemaker, he simply didn't like always sticking around with his parents, cause most of the time it got boring.

His spots had begun to show, unlike the tiny little blob he'd used to be. Despite color-wise he was more like his mother, the spots where sort-of like his fathers, and he had some pretty neat stripes too. The cub wasn't half as good as climbing as his parents, especially because his tiny legs weren't too good for much yet, but he could uh.. cling to a veryvery low branch or something.

Even though young, Usiku knew how many things worked, being a keen observer. He knew what adults did when they hunted, for once his mom had dragged him out, not wanting to leave him alone, he knew that monkeys climbed higher into trees when danger was near, so he knew if he better hide or not; he couldn't possibly be a threat afterall.

But for now, all he was doing was stalking an odd beetle, not for the fact thathe wanted to hunt, but merely because it had a neat array of colors.

Very close nearby was another danger. One that...well, let's just say posed itself danger, and no one else around it.

Halili, the very beautiful tiger-marked lioness, was making her way through the forest. She felt a little stressed lately, wondering about Majani. She wanted to bring it up to Majani, but didn't know how. So instead, she fled, seeking shelter in the great jungle that she called home.

Though she wasn't sure where she was going, or exactly where she was, she felt comfortable. Everyone that she had met in the jungle was nice, so why should she worry about anything?

She emerged through the giant leaves, not quite paying attention to what could be below her. In this case, what was below her.

The cub blinked, attention hoisted away from his bug to the trees. There weren't monkeys around now, but a bird was, and it suddenly took to flight.

Hide!

He looked around, tail swishing. That bush was too skinny, not very good. No, no. Hiding behind trees didn't usually work either, and that other bush over there was thorny. But hey, those leaves over there were pretty big. Quickly, he scurried over towards them, but when he was about to jump in, a orange paw knocked him right in the nose.

He squeaked, flailing his paws, then scuttling around, jumping to the first cover he was-- he shoulda picked the other bush, though.

"Aah! " He squeaked, scurrying almost emmediatly out of the thorny bush, crowching on ground, small shoulders above his head, ears back and looking at whatever had 'attacked' him.

Halili jumped back after her paw had met something...furry. A delayed squeal escaped her throat, and she had scurried back into the large bush that she had emerged from, taking a cautious peek at what it just was that was attacking her.

To her surprise (once her heart had stopped beating so fast) that infact, it wasn't anything to worry about too much. Just a little cub!

She peeked her head out of the bush, and gave a sorry look to the little cub. "Oh dear. Halili is so sorry...yes she is. She didn't mean to scare you..." Her ears were flat on her head with worry, the poor little cub had run into the thorns, no less! This was probably all her fault too...oh dear...

Orange. Like mom's eyes, only more.. orange-y. Pretty funny. Hey, this had stripes sorta like he did, pretty neat wasn't it! His heart slowly stopped thumping, and once he realised this wasn't an attacker, he sat up more straight, not liking to look flustured or anything.

"Um.. ok.. Halili. " He said oddly, examining this creature. It was bigger than mom, who was bigger than dad. And it had no spots, and a funny tail. Maybe it used that fluffy thing to get clean or something. "What are you? " He said indignantly, tail curling around his paws. "Casuse I'm a leopard, you can't be a leopard. "

Halili glanced around before gingerly stepping out, showing more of her tiger-striped body. She definately looked a little nervous, but her curiosity was slowly starting to peek out from under her fear.

"Halili is a lion." She beamed proudly. Not like she knew that many lions. There was her and Majani in the jungle, really, and...wow. She really only knew leopards.

She peered down at him, more curiosity filling up inside of her. "Seems like there's really only leopards around here. Halili thinks so, anyway.

He got up, curiously scurrying around the lion, more interested in knowing more other than what was now no olonger a threat. He contently hopped over her tail, pleased with his leap, and scurried back to her big paws. "You're bigger then my mom and my dad. " He announced.

"Lions are big. " He wouldn't ask what a lion was, cause she was a lion so he had whatever they were sitting right there. Bigger than leopards with fluffy fur-cleaners on their tail-tips.

Other leopards? So she had met other leopards. He sat infront of her. "I'm Usiku, 'n my moms name is karama, 'n my dad's name is Keone. " He swished his tail. "Did'ja meet any of them? " Well, if she had seen enough leopards to think there were more than lions. Then again, this was his first lion.

Halili couldn't help but shine a bit. She loved attention, though she never actually seeked it out. But what female wouldn't love attention? Majani have her undying attention, but sometimes it was nice to get some from the 'outside', so to speak.

"If you think Halili's big...you should see Majani! He's much bigger then Halili." She said with a confirming nod. Then he'd be surprised!

Her ears perked up when she heard the name 'Keone'. "Halili knows Keone!" She nodded quickly. "Keone taught Halili how to fish....he's a very nice leopard." She flashed a smile, remembering how she tried to show Majani how to fish. It was...interesting, and an adventure, to say in the least.

"So Usiku is Keone's son....that's so sweet." She grinned, happy to meet the little cub. Of course, she didn't even think to ask about why the little thing was out here on his own, but since she never felt terrible fear in the jungle, she didn't even worry about it.

The tiny leopard tilted his head. Majani, he'd remember that. If this Majani was big, he'd like to know who Halili was talking about. He crouched, if only because he found this more comfortable.

She knew his dad, then. There could be another with the name Keone, but he knew his dad did get fish alot, so that probably prooved to be his dad. "Yeah, he fishes alot. " The cub said, tohugh more interested in whatever this lion was.

"Can you climb? My mom and my dad do that alot. " He blinked, made a small run and jumped at a tree, only clinging to it a bit before flopping off though, as if to show what he meant. He gave a smallfrown thogh, he had to work on climbing.

...climb? This was something that she hadn't really heard of before. She watched him carefully, trying to understand just what he was doing. Of course, it wasn't processing in her brain too well, so she just looked at him, confused.

"Climb....why....why do you climb?" she asked carefully, hoping that she wouldn't offend him or anything. She just....didn't get it. She swished her tail idly, remembering how he jumped into the tree.

Well, if Halili didn't know what climbing was, she couldn't climb, logical.

"Cause its safer up in the trees, and nothing can go eat us there! " He explained cooly, sitting down against the tree, tail curling around his paws. "My mom takes food up there too. So no ones steals it. " Usiku blinked. He had gone up a tree a few times with his mom or dad helping. It was pretty neat up there, actually.

She blinked. Take food up in the trees? "Isn't it hard to drag food up there?" She tried to imagine it...but it didn't work too well. 'Cause...if it fell, then it was gone!

She gave a little nod though. "Halili understands about hiding, though. We just kind of hide in a little den we made, but Halili thinks yours is probably better..." She eyed the tree, perhaps thinking about this climbing thing to explore on her own some day.

"My mom sais its cause someone might try 'n steal the food, 'n if its big theres nutin she can do! " He said matter-of-factly, jumping at the tree again then falling on his back. "Mum does it pretty easy, tho. But thats cause she's big. " The cub said upsidedown, rolling over and shrugging his shoulders.

"Den? " Usiku blinked. He knew what they were, but.. "If something attacks you while your in there.. How will you get out 'n escape? " Most cubs didn't quite talk about attacks and those things, probably, but his mother had made sure to make her cub aware. Karama obviously didn't want to risk losing her one cub due lack of warning that not everything was nice and pretty.

Halili watched him attempt to run up the tree again, but fail. SHe winced as he thudded onto the ground, recoiling a bit. Just to make sure he didn't land on her!

Halili's ears perked when the smart little cub asked his question. Wait....how would they? She sat and thought about it for a while, though it was a little hard to tell that she was actually thinking. It looked like she was just spacing out.

"....umm," she started out, unaware that she started talking. She shook herself a little and started again. "Maybe....maybe they'll be fat enough that they can't fit in there? Majani is kind of small....and Halili is smaller..?" She trailed it off as a question, not sure what she was saying, or if it was making sense. But maybe it was?

The cub sat and stared at the lioness blankly. What was she doing? Maybe she had.. uhh.. fainted. He never saw how that was like, so he wouldn't know what this was. About to wave a paw infront of her, fially she seemed to break out of it.

"Ooh. " The cub swished his tail, getting up and padding around the lioness to see how smallshe was. Well, it wasn't easy, if to you, she was big either way. But maybe he shuld better jsut change the subject. "Did you everseea snake? "
