It was a beautiful morning in Crescent city. Not a cloud in the sky, the sun beating down to ease the chill in the winter air. It was market day, the main street covered in stalls displaying wares from throughout Shutensa. It was hard for the senses to take in, all the bright colours, sounds and smells.

Mecca stood in the shade of a nice, colourless stall selling magical objects of a hopefully dark nature. He welcomed the shade and the muted colours, the jovial atmosphere had given him a migraine. Smirking to himself he picked up a small statue and turned it over, looking for the curse carvings that would make the difference between a worthless trinket and a valuble ritual item. If it turned out to be the latter he would have to add it to his collection.

It felt amazingly good to be back in Crescent City, and on one of her favorite days too. Having stopped at an ice cream booth after buying -more- trinkets for her jewelry box, Covet was now making her way slowly towards the one booth she knew Mecca would have gravitated towards. Fairly dancing on her toes with her happiness as she ate the brightly colored treat, she cut her way through the crowd until she found herself at his side.

"Try this," she smiled and slipped the ice cream into his line of vision as he inspected the statue he held in his hands. She knew he would refuse, but she never gave up trying.

Even with the weather being so crisp, a certain Shu still wore her normal attire, the woman with the long wrapped hair and an almost emotionless face, walked besides a certain mobster that everyone had to know, from some story or from being warned to stay away from him. Epitaph, which meant this blue wearing shutensa was Suzu, his one and only bodyguard.

The odd thing was, that every little stand they stopped at Epitaph would pick up something and held it up to Suzu, asking her minor questions, mostly, "Do you like this?"

It looked like they were shopping, but for her.

Sighing, Suzu shook her head at a particular outfit that he'd pointed out, something that would have looked good on a showgirl but never her. "That many feathers would get in the way, besides that color is atroshish," she commented, her voice low.

Epitaph was displaying a rare somber mood. He was trying to show Suzu she was appreciated, but she was so goddamn hard to shop for. She liked nothing! He almost stopped at a bordello and attempted to buy her a man. Maybe if she gets laid, she'll like that...

Silvey eyes, something like a faint smoke in crystal quartz, scanned the crowd. Kimonos. Where was that kimono stand? Mentally he counted the stands on the right side. Food.... magical crap.... there! Kimonos."This way.." He said, turning her arm as he stalked forward. He was rather moody lately. Something was on his mind.

"Suzu..." He started. "I want you to go recruiting one or two more into the group. At least one has to be a bodyguard, a capable fighter, and I'll leave the style up to you if he or she uses magic." He didn't want to admit that Asher had made him think. It was too easy to grab any random person, and while Epitaph was full of teasing, he cared about his friends dearly.

Finding what he was looking for, Mecca smirked and started to barter with the owner. Bartering that was stopped when the food was almost shoved in his face.
Mecca raised an eyebrow and turned to look at her.
"What is it?" He asked regarding the strange looking thing that appeared to be ... melting. It looked sweet. He didn't like sweet things, he thought as he paid the stall owner and turned back to the painful brightness of the rest of the market.

Covet smiled at his question and had to quickly catch a few stray drips as he paid the stall owner.
"I'm not telling you until you try it. Just a little taste. Please?" she asked, pausing in her convincing to catch another stray drip that rolled down the side of the cone. "It won't kill you, I swear. I haven't gotten tired of you quite yet," she smirked and arched a brow teasingly as she held the ice cream back out to him and they stepped back out into the mainstream flow of shu.

Watching Epitaph, Suzu tilted her head before she gave him a rare smile. "If you're looking for something, try to keep it blue please," she said before bowing to him and stepping back. Within the next moment she was gone, lost in the crowd as she went to look for someone she thought worthy of protecting Epitaph.

Perching on top of one of the stands, hiding in the shadows she watched the crowd below. A lot of people, most with the grace of a plate falling off the shelf. It was slim pickings, was all she could think. However... one couple was catching her attention. Two shu that looked like they paired as well as salt to a slug, however it was what everyone else couldn't see that had Suzu inching forward and locking eyes with a random man who stood off to the side. With a wave of her hand, she nodded to the pair.

Let's see if what I see they actually know how to use. Crouching low Suzu got comfortable, ready to watch as the man started a fight with the two, first by rudely walking into Covet, forcing her to drop her ice-cream. "Watch it!"

Epitaph didn't watch her leave. She had her own way about things. He did, however, head over to the clothing stall and was thumbing through several pieces. He held up one ungodly horrible know, knowing that she would probably see him looking at it from somewhere. He put it down a moment later, though, flipping through several others before vanishing into the store. He popped out with a bag afterwards, and moved two stalls away, sitting on top of a table after he got some ice cream, free of charge. Suzu probably assumed that both of the new additions would be for this, but one was for her own company, even if she didn't think she needed protection or help.

Mecca was almost about to try some of the intriguing substance when the moron knocked into Covet and knocked the ice cream flying. Turning to galre as it landed at and on their feet Mecca raised a condescending eyebrow at the man.

"I think it is you who should watch it." He said with an air of superiority. "An apology would be much more apropriate."

Covet smirked as she realized that he was actually going to try it. Holding it out to him, she blinked and winced as another shu walked into her and she watched as her ice cream slipped out of her hand to splat all over the street. Frowning as she caught her balance against Mecca, she turned to face the shu who had so rudely bumped into her.

"Much more appropriate," she said, echoing Mecca's words and glaring at him as she folded her arms in front of her.

Growling the man, with no outstanding features, grabbed Covets arm in such a way it would bruise. "Why apologize? She's the b*tch that ran into me," he started, pulling Covet from Mecca.

From the roof top, Suzu had scowled at the grotesque piece of clothing that Epitaph picked out first before turning her eyes back to the three some. Crawling a bit farther, she watched as the man began to drag Covet away from Mecca, muttering about teaching her a lesson.

If this didn't get some reaction out of them, nothing would. "What will you do? What will you do.."

Epitaph saw it coming as he licked his ice cream again, watching the small bit of what could potentially turn into a fight. He recognized his own men and knew Suzu had a good eye for people that wouldn't stand for that kind of stuff. It was even more amusing, because the guy that had grabbed the girl and was starting the fight was normally very evasive and didn't like to do such things. Ah well, if they do good, he'll apologize later. Coincidentally, he could easily just get another ice cream for the lady. Maybe offer to share it with her, even...

Epi glanced around. High and shadowed, that's all he needed to know about where Suzu would be, and sure enough, a slinking movement near the overhang of the building and there she was, watching. How does she climb so fast? He randomly wondered, unconcerned. He didn't really want a full out fight to break out, but this would be interesting.

As much as Mecca like to cause pain, he wasn't really a Shu to get into brawls with common rifraf. Sighing deeply he slipped the talisman into his pocket and stepped forwards to grab the man by the hair. Pulling downwards.
"Doesn't feel good to be pulled around does it?" He said flatly, his cold eyes watching the man in an almost bored fashion. "If I were you I would let her go and apologise. I really don't want to cause more of a scene than I already am."

"Ow! Now wait a minute," Covet scowled as she was roughly grabbed and pulled away from Mecca. Pulling against his tight grasp on her arm, they only managed to get a few steps before Mecca stepped in and yanked him back. Reaching up, she tried to pry his hand off her arm. Seriously, what was his problem, she thought, pulling against him again.

With a tilt of her head, she stared at them. The male had done something brave, and while the girl hadn't spat in his face she still wouldn't stand for it.

Smiling, she stood. She wouldn't let a full out fight break loose in town, not on one of the only days Epitaph ventured out of his house.

Walking to the edge she dropped off it and landed just behind them. She'd chosen her spot well, and Nikan, the random bully, had skilly pulled them closer to her. "That's enough," she said, and just as quickly, Covet was let go. "If you would release him I can explain."
