It wasn't hard to leave. Mom and dad were seldom around them anymore, and it felt to Hannah like the only family she had left was Nitika, but even she had made herself scarce lately. "Probably ran off with some male." she huffed, puffing out her chest as she took the river in a single dignified leap. They'd have died crossing it if her sister hadn't been so quick to snuff out any thoughts about swimming when they were pups. That had only been the beginning of the wanderlust rising and sparking in her heart. She had been born a runt, and if not for such forgiving and loving parents wouldn't have made it past being a runt. Now she was strong and bigger than her mother, even.

A breeze traveled up the river, coming in from the ocean. The smells of the land, salt and sand, were instantly on her. She had smelled it all since birth. Visitors had found it hard to deal with, but she loved it. Sun glinted through the trees, leaving a bright dapple of golden color all over the ground. It was a perfect day to make her leave.

A shimmer of sadness played in her eyes as she glared at the ground refusing to look back. If Nitika wanted to come finally cross the river she would, but Hannah wasn't waiting around for her. Fluffing herself up she carried on; it wasn't long until she crossed the borders, leaving her parents' land behind.

Kara told herself she was only going out for a brief stroll, but she found herself drifting farther and farther from the packlands. It had been 2 days now, but she had promised she'd stay with Jori. So much for promises. She'd be back, though, she had promised, and she would return within a week's time. So hopefully the blue wouldn't worry to much. There wasn't much to worry for anyway. If the gamma really wanted to talk to Kara that much wouldn't she come with? Perhaps not, loyaltly was a strong thing.

So she simply kept her footfalls in rythymn to the earth. She wasn't arond water, for once, and she was amazed at all the scents that tugged at her nostrils. She found herself exploring the smallest places and crannies, looking for something of interest. It was how she'd been stung on the nose by a scorpion and bitten sharply on the ear by a rather angry rodent of some sort. Perhaps sticking your nose in other's business wasn's so wise afterall.

Yet no matter what lesson's she'd thought to have learned, it was all washed away when she caught the scent of another wolf. Nevermind that it could be dangerous. Still, she was never the one to take action, no that would be to easy. She would wait here and hope the other wolf would come her direction. Her maw spread open to reveal a panting tongue, she positioned her rump onto the soil to await the other's arrival. What a strange crazy b***h she was.

Others had always commented that the salt in the air made it hard for them to breathe, but Hannah was having a hard time without it. She tried hard to convince herself that it was all in her head, it was just the panic of leaving home, and more so of leaving home without saying goodbye. She could do this. Can't stay with mommy and daddy forever.

The wind wasn't playing by Hannah's rules today, and she caught sight before scent of the stranger wolf sitting not terribly far off. First instinct caused the fur on her neck to prickle, but realizing she was on free land now she calmed a bit.

She nodded a silent 'hello' as she slowed and eventually stopped a respectable distance away from the other wolf, not completely sure of what to do. In her land, visitors did what she wanted. This was not her land. Her parents had never taken her back to the 'free lands' they spoke of fondly, she had never been gently guided into how to act towards other wolves in these free woods.

Kara herself had never been a pack wolf, always a loner, that was until she became the alpha member of a pack. It wasn't hard to tell that this wolf wasn't well on in her years, so no doubt she lacked severe experience, not that it ever helped anyone. So Kara knew she should take caution, the youth were easy to anger and she wasn't looking for a fight. The simple nod from the other helped to relax her tensing muscles and she gave her own tail wag in reply. Long ago she had learned not to show teeth, it was seen as a threat - a good lot of trouble it had gotten her into.

Her ears flicked to note the shifting of branches behind her. For a moment she became alarmed, the hair rising on the nape of her neck, but in a flash the presence was gone and she could relax again. It might be some time before she knew what it was, and it had probably just been a bird anyway. Her focus taken she had to return to the female before speaking.

"What brings youth such as yourself all the way to these lands?" she questioned, her tail ceasing movement with the question.

Hannah couldn't bring herself to sit. Her tail and ears twitched, and she fought the urge to look over her shoulder. If mom or dad found her missing, they would send an army to rescue her, and at this short distance she would never get away.

She chewed over the question a minute before answering. "Just wandering, really." It was the truth, she had no destination and no set path, and it was mainly because she didn't know the land. She had the idea of a perfect little area to settle, she just had to find it first.

Kara nodded, noting that the female was restless. She wondered exactly what made her so touchy. Perhaps she had a persuer? No matter, Kara could deal with the nervous ones. She laughed a little and rose on her feet, starting to walk so the female wouldn't have to stand in one place. Restless or not, Kara didn't mind going for walks, and it gave her an excuse anyway.

"Just wandering, eh?" Another chuckle escaped her lips, followed by a sigh. She searched the sky for some sort of meaning to this, but could find nothing. "Seems like you're a might bit touchy for a wander." She paused for a moment.

"Is something wrong?" She sat yet again, surveying the area for any intruders. It wouldn't help to look for the enemy that this female was searching for so passionately.

Furrowing her brow, the teen sat with an ungraceful whumph. Her parents weren't the tyrants they had told her stories of in the past. They wouldn't come after her with jaws slavering, eyes wide. If anything they would find her and chuckle to themselves, and decide it was time to escort her through the freelands themselves.

She relaxed a bit and took a more comfortable position. "Yes, I'm just exploring, homelands got a bit boring." she managed a smile that looked more like a grimace. "Nothing's wrong, it's just.. leaving home." she spoke a bit more softly. "I don't know if I'll go back, yet."

She thought of her sister, then. She knew if she stayed gone long enough, at least Nitika would come for her, and might be persuaded to stay "lost" with her.

Kara nodded in understanding. She could see that homelands became boring, hers never had, she'd left for other less adventurous reasons. It was good to be alone, but at the same time there was a hole in her heart. She knew who it belonged too, but she didn't want to admit it. She'd rather rip it apart and let it go away, no matter what.

"If you don't want to go back you're welcome to a place in my pack," she said, not even realizing she had spoken. "We've got plently of room." Her thoughts drifted back to Jori, and to the encounter with Kiros not too long ago. The blue had remained so loyal, you couldn't buy such determination for the largest price in the woods.

Jori reminded her of her and so Kara drifted off dreamily, thinking and imagining things that would never come true. Such was her imagination and her foolishness. Hearts were meant to be broken, perhaps hers would never have to be.

The pale femme bowed her head once, in thanks. "Maybe some day, if the offer stands. Right now I need to make it on my own, or try at all costs."

She lifted herself from the ground and stretched, letting her tongue loll momentarily. "What about you?" She speaks suddenly, straightening up. "Were you headed anywhere in particular?"

"I would imagine it would," Kara affirmed. She always welcomed others into her pack if they so desired, provided they showed an apt amount of loyalty. She didn't enjoy other's sneaking around her backside and sleeping with traitors.

"Me?" she answered the question with another, stretching out her legs in front of her and rising. "Going back to my packlands. There are things to do there." She looked to the sky for guidance, it was time for her to go, there was nothing to be gained here with this other wolf, and time was of the essence.

"I'll see you someday maybe?" she asked, before rising and leaving to the rising sun.
