Karma emerged from the temple at her usual time, the sun was just barely visible over the treetops and it glimmered through the branches. She walked down a few steps from the temple, contemplating going back. She had been there for many hours, arriving before noon and before the rest of her friends, but she had much thinking, contemplating, to do. She paced slowly at the entrance to the temple, thoughts of "It would please my God to go back..." and "If I stay much longer I won't make it back to the pack before sundown... and some may be worried."

Deciding against staying, as it was quickly getting darker, she slowly headed down the stairs of the temple, hoping to find someone else who was looking to head back the same direction she was.

Flame colored orbs scanned the horizon, admiring the shimmering glow the sunset produced. Khint bowed his head in respect, for all glowing lanterns of the night pleased his god. With a flick of his tail, he stood, ember-colored spots reflecting the dimming sunlight, producing a steady illumination.

The dark Malu extended his limbs in a delicate stretch, a soft yawn escaping his maw. Shifting back into his default, regal stance, he trotted forward, escaping the soothing brush the oasis provided.

His exterior was a euphony of glow; colors exceeding even the sunset's. He moved with grace and dignity with a calm sense of omniscient presence. Like the God of Glowing Embers, he was but a flicker in the darkness, delicate in his courtly grandeur.

As she waited, Karma eyed a malu exit the forest. His colors stood out most to her, shades of yellow, orange and gold dotting his mid section. Even at this distance his colors were still beautifully vibrant. Her attention was immediately drawn to him as he stood and stretched.

She hopped up off the stair and headed down toward him. She wasn't sure what to say tom him when she got there or even if she would speak to him, but she knew she wanted to inspect this malu closer.

Graceful paws sunk lightly into the sand below as Khint proceeded to glide over the desert. His movements were like reflections upon water; elusive in their enigmatic presence. The glimmering Malu dipped his as he slowed his gait, ears pressing back against his skull. Soft notrils flared slightly as the scent of a female came in range.

He paused, shifting his vibrant gaze to rest upon a dark form that lingered in the night. A delicate smile traced over his charcoal lips, but Khint said nothing. Instead, he continued to stand in his last steps, oberving the figure from afar.

Karma watched curiously as the flagrantly colored malu stopped walking at what seemed a random time from her point of view. She continued a bit more slowly than before, his colors set off alarms in her mind. Alarms that she heeded with care always, believing them to be signs from her God. She was normally cautious around those she didn't know very, well, and it was no different this time. She didn't like to be casual with those she didn't know well yet.

Stopping still some distance from the other malu, she spoke slowly. "Hello there!" She had a tone of greeting in her voice, but not a tone of complete trust just yet.

Khint turned completely toward the female's direction, ears coming forward in curosity. "Good evening!" he called out to her, "care to join me for a late-night swim?" A delicate smile crept onto his face, though unseen in the absence of light. The gentle Malu tip-toed closer to her, though kept his distance. He could sense that she was cautious thing; an aspect that made her beauty emanate.

Moonlight cascaded over the sheet of sand, causing their shadows to dance and his fiery eyes to sparkle with enthusiasm. It was the light during the hours of darkness that thrilled him most; the light that few took the time to truly appreciate. He was grateful to have found such a lovely creature adorning the midnight glow, but did she feel the same?

Karma tilted her head curiously, closied her eyes for a moment in the night, and breathed the night air. She had a somniferous look to her in that moment, but was not at all tired. "A late-nigth swim, you're suggesting?" She repeated quietly being sure that she heard him correctly. "Why, that sounds like it would be a wonderful thing on a night like tonight." Even with this time of year, the air did not yetnip harshly at the extremities. On the sands it continued to be quite comfortable and a dry warmth blanketed the area.

Looking into the eyes of this malu she had never met before, Karma posed a question his way. "I, sir, am Karma. It is a pleasure to meet you, but before we leave to go for a swim, I desire to know your name." She took a step closer, the darkness engulfing them, desiring to be able to see more of his features. His eyes were still clearly visible, and the glow of some bright markings on his coat, but she wanted to be able to pin a clear, definite picture of a malu with his voice. The night was relaxing and beautiful, but she desired light at times too.

A glint of white sparkled as Khint gave her yet another small grin. "I am quite pleased to meet you, Lady Karma," he told her, his deep voice reverberating softly within his chest. His words were calm and collected; emitting a soothing effect upon any listener.

"I am known as Khint, follower of the God of Glowing Embers," he introduced, lowering his upper body in a canine-like bow. Regaining his stance, the colorful's eyes met Karma's; unafraid in almost a seductive manner. White stripes adorning his cheeks glowed in the evening light as his face turned slightly, allowing him to admire the moon for an instant.

"I often think that the night is more alive and more richly colored than the day," Khint said with a romantic sigh, his smile returning to his face. "So, would you care to join me?"

Karma smiled gently, warmly at his words. His voice was comforting and he had a very royal aura to him, it was almost visible, it was not only his pelt that illuminated in this darkness.

"It is nice to meet you, Khint. I am a follower of the God of Fate." She felt it only appropriate to introduce him to her own god, for he did the same for her. "And I would be delighted to join you for a swim this evening." She had never gone swimming so late before, and was unsure of where they would go to swim. "I must know though, where is it that you intend to bring me to swim?" She inquired curiously, almost slyly. As far as she knew, the only bodies of water deep enough to swim in were some distance. Not a day's journey, but far enough that one would not be travelling there in the dark of night without real purpose. Travelling to one of those lakes was not for a night of swimming.

Khint pointed his muzzle in toward the east. "Have you ever contemplated the roots of the fountains, my dear?" he asked her softly, another smile gracing his maw. "There are hidden rivers and lakes, soothing and beautiful... a perfect match for this night."

His eyes danced at the prospect of swimming with such an intensely enigmatic creature. "I promise... you will love this oasis' gift to you."

Karma enjoyed greatly his manner of speaking. He had a calm tone to his voice and yet he said so much using so few words. He was very mysterious in this way and it made her interested in what he was up to at all times, where he was actually bringing her, if she had been there before.

And she had never thought of where the fountains began, but she did know that there were sources of water somewhere that fueled them. She wasn't sure how one found a hidden river or lake, but she wanted to go there. She wanted to explore them with her new companion.

She nodded her head slightly. "Then I will be in your debt for this gift. I await the surprise!"
