Yawning softly as the sun broke the mountian cliff in the distance, the arctic hued Malu cracked open a lazy eye. Although it was the break of dawn, Chael's wasn't so much a morning malu...at least not this early. Despite it all, he arose from the ground and stretched out his body earning a few cracks in the process. Today was the day...an adventure up to his homelands, and it was hard to hide the excitement in his eyes. Tilting his head to glance over at the distant destination, a smile crossed his lips as his tail twitched in glee.

He hadn't seen Kiua for a while now, the two taking their seperate ways to get ready for the long trip. Having met up a few times in the past two weeks to enjoy one anothers company and talk about their plan of action about getting to the Northlands. They figured that they would take the direct route across the desert, yet instead of heading straight up the mountians they would embark on a valley passage. It was less of an incline and would make it easier to travel longer days then if they went straight up. Shaking his fur out from the shilled dew, the nights down here had gotten fairly cold....this was about as winter as they would ever see down here. Taking one last look around, Chael made his way down from the rooftop of the temple and outside towards one of the dry fountians infont of the temple.

Stepping up beside the stone fountian, he sat down with his back leaning up against the pool wall. Difting off in his thoughts, it had been a whirlwind of fun with Kiua these past weeks. He had honestly never expected to meet someone like her, not to mention fall so head over heels with her! Yet here he was, with an amazing mate like Kiua, heading back home with her so excited to come along. He hoped she would enjoy it, the snow that is...as he was already well aware how excited she was to be able to see the nightly northern aurora.

Kiua had woken up from her comfortable patch of greenery on the hill where she and her darling Chael had spent that night several weeks before. She loved looking out at the horizon and see everything laying out beneath her, to see the point were land and sky meet. The thought always raised a swell of pride in her and she was always sure to be around to see the sunrise and the sunset.

She had watched the great sun come up from the East, over her home lands. The great ball of fire slowly coming up from the mountains.
She was suprised she had even seen it this morning. She had found herself sleeping in later, often times just barely missing the sunrise.
She didn't know why, considering she had never missed a sunrise in her life till recent. But she didn't let it bother her.

She felt excitement making it's way up from her hooves to her chest where it stayed firmly. They were leaving for the northlands today. They had everything planned out now and it was finally time to go.
She couldn't think of anything that could possibly ruin it. Other than the weird pains she'd been feeling recently.
But, they weren't anything enough to postpone the trip anyway.

She would often check her stomach for any signs of disease or sickness, praying nothing was wrong. It was hard to tell, considering she had done as Chael thought was best and was building up her fur. Her coat had thickened more than she'd ever had it before.
She was eager to get to the northlands too, this coat of fur was much too heavy for the desert.

She headed off to meet with her darling prince, hoping he had awoken by now. She walked down the hill enjoying the slightly chilly breeze as she went.
She could see a blue figure near the water fountain and trotted eagerly towards it.
"Good Morning, sir. Fine day isn't it?" She smiled and looked at him playfully.

"Oh quite- Kiua!" Chael grinned happily as his had turned his head to spot the owner of the voice was no other than Kiua. Quickly rising to his feet he closed the distance between them and affectionately nipped at her shoulder before settling to nuzzle her cheek. His tail swaying to and fro, it seemed that nothing was going to ruin this day...no...especially now that Kiua was at his side again.

Gazing her over, he chuckled at how well her first winter coat had come in as it seemed she had taken his instructions to heart. His own coat had come in like it had once been, making him look rather muscular with the addition of thickness to his body. "Its a perfect day to start off on a journey, I have to admit. I haven't seen the weather this nice before, luck must be on our side." He grinned giving her a short kiss on the lips, "I can't believe how well your coat came in, it looks better than mine." he huffed mockingly, looking at his now fuzzy paws. Shrugging his shoulders with a final chuckle, he felt a rumble in his stomach and gave a sheepish look. "Perhaps we should eat first and get a lot of water in us...I can't remember how many water sources there are out in the desert.." He thought momentarily before glancing to Kiua.

"Hehe." She nuzzled him back and nipped his shoulder lovingly, placing a gentle kiss upon the side of his maw.
Her own tail swayed to and fro, a little more lax but at the same time just as happy and eager.
She ignored the small pain in her stomach, which she somehow knew wasn't of hunger because a moment later her stomach told it was hungry and the two feelings were entirely different.

"It is indeed a fine day for a journey. And I doubt that. You have had experiance in growing a coat. But I'll accept your compliment with the utmost grace." She was getting hungry and apparently Chael was too. She grinned.
"That sounds like a fine idea. And I still love your coat." She buried her head in the soft fur and took in a deep breathe of his scent and smiled.
"Let's hope the desert is kind to us."

"I may have experience, yet I simply cannot mimic for the life of me your glossy coat. It gets me everytime." Chael smiled, and blinked as she burried her face in his fur whichalmost made him laugh due to her was fairly ticklish. When he caught sight of her eyes, an odd dullness in those once brilliant orbs caused the large male to worry slightly...curious to what was wrong. Yet in an instant, they seemed to fade away, replaces with the usual shine which was what he knew as Kiua.

"Yes, I hope so too. It'll be a hard journey, especially with these coats." He mentioned as he kept pace with her towards a mango tree, making sure not to leave her side. "I think you'll do better than I in the first half of our journey. Is the eastern plains where you came from is warmer, right?" He asked curiously. Looking up at the mango's in the tree, Chael noticed the tree trunk was straight...so his usual method wouldn't work. Frowning lightly, he tried to think of a better plan to get the fruit.

"Lies! You only think it's not gorgeous. I near faint whenever I see it. All the girls must be soo jealous!" She teased once more, forcing her nose away from Chael's fur. She would feel no remorse in spending the rest of her time with her face buried in his fur, basking in his company.

"We'll endure darling, we'll endure." She followed him towards the mango tree, not wanting to be far from his side. She never wanted to be far from his side. She paused remembering back to her days on the plain, which weren't so long ago. Yet they felt like an eternity had past since then.
"Possibly. I think the desert is much hotter than the plains. A nice wind goes over them regularly so it kept everything considerably cool, all things considered."
She saw him look at the tree in frustration, his maw in a small frown and his brow furrowed. She smiled as she found it quite cute and rather amusing. She spread her wings and smiled, flapping them a few times to get herself off the ground.
She reached up and grabbed the branch.
The pain in her side came back at full force, protesting her from flying and breaking any power she had building up in her wings. She latched onto the branch with her teeth as her wings gave out.
Her weight pulled the branch down, but she was still dangling... She was having trouble holding on and the pain was only getting worse.

"Heh, What other girls? You're the first and only one my age I've ever spoken to." He laughed sheepishly, yet somehow it didn't bother him that he didn't have many feminin friends. A warm smile overcame his lips as she reluctantly pulled out from his fur, sighing gentlyas he looked unsure. "I dunno, you might have to carry me if it gets too hot.." He resorted in his own tease, nudging her shoulder with his own.

Watching in awe as Kiua so effortlessly floated up from the ground, even though he knew Malu couldn't fly...seeing that was simply amazing. That was...untill disaster struck. Gazing helplessly as something seemed to go wrong, Kiua clung to the branch in what seemed to be like pain. "Kiua!" He called out, paniced as he knew he couldn't fly up and save her...his wings were not build for flying or soaring in the slightest. Looking around, he knew he didn't have much time to think of a plan...and realized the one thing he could do. "Kiua! Just let go! I'll catch you!" Taking the few steps below her, he knew he couldn't catch her...yet he could give her a soft landing by breaking her fall with his own body.

Kiua thought over her options as she painfully struggled to stay up.
She knew the best, and only option really was to let herself fall to Chael.

But... what if something went wrong?! What if she hurt Chael or even worse.... What could be worse than hurting Chael?!
And then it dawned on her, as she dangled helplessly on the branch, children. COuld...could it be?
Was that the pain she's been feeling these last few days?

...If that was so and something went wrong with the fall..... The thought frightened her to tears.
She heard Chael call out to her and she forced her wings to spread out from her body.
It was painful, and falling with them against the wind would slow her down but might harm her wings beyond usefulness. She had to take a chance.

With her wings out stretched, she opened her mouth and dropped from the branch. She closed her eyes tight and away a harsh fall.
She prayed to her god, her wonderous god to leave her darling Chael unhurt, and moreso, the his children she now thought she held.

Like Kiua, similar thoughts raced through his head as he understood some of the risks which accompanied catching something nearly the same size as you. His mind running a mile a minute, knowing it would hurt them both if she fell on his back, yet figured out one method which in theory should leave them both unharmed. Looking up one last time, he watched as she loosened her jaw on the treebranch with wings outstretched and fell.

As if choreographed, Chael's wings quickly perked upright to keep them from harm as he fell to she side, allowing her own body to hit and fall into his side as he tucked his legs back and hit the ground. With a loud 'oomph', he felt most of the air rush out of his lungs on impact, leaving the male stunned for a moment, taking a gasp to refill his lungs quickly. Groaning lightly, he tilted his head up to see the collapsed Kiua on his side, leaning up to nudge her muzzle. "Kiua...Are you alright?"

She looked at him, and saw the pain and worry in his voice.
She curled closer to him and nuzzled into his fur, making a vow (One she knew she would break) That she would never pull her head away from his warm embrace. She knew something like that was impossible, and foolish.
But it was all she wanted at the moment.

"I'm sooo sorry I hope I didn't hurt you, please don't be hurt, the last thing I want is you to be hurt, I don't know what I'ddoifIhurtyoupleeeaseforgivemeImsooosorrry...." She babbled on like that for several moments, keeping herself as close as possible to him.
She took deep breathes letting the thick scent of her loved one help soothe and calm her.
She soon realised she was crying, the tears having gone down the side of her maw and his eyes welled up.
She continued to pray to her god that her darling Chael wasn't hurt and that nothing happened to her babies.

Shofting slightly as he adjusted his body to sip up slightly, leaning more on his side as his body almost curled around Kiua's now. Once again he could feel the warmth as her face burried into his fur, his eyes closing halfway as a smile spread on his lips. Shaking his head softly, a gentle chuckle emitted from his lips moving his head to nuzzle her forehead. "Kiua...don't worry. I'm fine, really I am.." Shifting his maw, he nudged her head up so he could see her face when his eyes widened, feeling her damp cheeks and tears in her eyes.

"Kiua...What's wrong, you aren't hurt are you? Tell me.." Chael said, feeling the panic well up in his chest again, lifting his paw to brush the tears from her face as his eyes scanned her body for injuries.

She just sniffled and heaved a sigh of relief to hear he was fine. Even if it wasn't protection from her god, she gave her immense thanks as she knew in her heart she wouldn't be able to go n if something bad happened.

She knew it wasn't like her to worry so much but...She had a family to worry about now it was only natural right?

She looked up at him, fighting back the tears. After the initial panic died down some she smiled. At first she was tierrified for their, well for their well being...But now....

It hit her again and this time with a swell of joy. She couldn't stop from smiling.
She could hardly say it, as if in fear it wasn't true. But it came out, in a croaked, but joyful whisper.
"...I'm pregnant...!"

Frowning lightly in confusion, Chael didn't know what to expect. She seemed alright, yet as her eyes welled with yet more tears, he was genuinely stumped and paniced at what was going on with Kiua. If anything had happened, he didn't know what he would do...he didn't think he would be able to go on without her at his side. "Kiua...What's wrong.." He asked again, almost begging her to give him an answer.

Suddenly, that smile crossed her lips as his own eyes lit up. If she was smiling, she was okay! Then...it hit him like a rockslide. "WHAT?????" His eyes widened, as he felt his heart stop for a moment in time; his face going pale in delight. "Puh...Preg...You Moth....I....Fath...ahhh.." A rather overjoyed smirk crossed his muzzle before his head began to feel dangerously light, and in an instant, the world went black as he felt his body fall back to the ground.
