It had been three days since Bianca and Odyss had seen the temple, or any of the other Malu that lived there. During one of their random trips outside of the oasis, Bianca had decided that it was time for them to explore something neither of them had seen before. So far, neither of them had run into any trouble. The world seemed calm and collected; the desert was the same in the outlands as it was near the temple's oasis.
Unfortunately, it seemed the endless sea of sand spanned out across the entire world. They hadn't found a single life form and Bianca was starting to feel hungrier than she had ever felt before. They had successfully found a few cacti and had been able to drink/eat from those desert plants. Other than that, nothing.
Bright green eyes shifted to rest upon her brown friend. With a heavy sigh, Bianca took a seat on the sandy floor, her legs aching from the sudden stop. Three days started to seem like an eternity and she was starting to miss Vivaldi and his lovely roses. The rose shrine had slowly grown to be her only known home and dull pain of homesickness was beginning to settle in her stomach.
"When are we going home?" she chirped, ears coming forward upon her white skull. Bianca felt awkward asking this question, considering the fact that it had been her idea to emerge out of the temple area. Odyss' opinion, however, always tended to correlate with her.

Odyss paused at her words, breathing rather heavily he glanced back at her, then turn his head back in the direction they where heading. It was very hot, even more so due to the fact that they have had little to eat or drink on their entire journey. He knew they would not make it much farther with out water… and it was a long way home. But as he stared at the horizon, he longed to go on. He didn’t answer for a moment, sitting down himself for a break just staring out at the horizon. He had been excited to go on this Journey, it was the first time he had been away from the Temple, and he probably would not have gone yet if Bianca had not suggested it. He swallowed, finding it hard due to how dry his mouth was. Bianca was younger then him, he felt he could go on forever, but he could not put Bianca through that. ”alright” he said, getting up again and walking over to Bianca “we can head back if you like” he gave her a small smile, reassuringly. Yet something in the distance caught his gaze and he paused. Narrowing his eyes slightly… it was either his eyes playing tricks on him after seeing Bianca’s green eyes. or there was something green in the distance to there left ”do you see that?” he asked her narrowing his eyes slightly to guard against the sun.

Bianca turned to face the direction Odyss' gaze rested upon. Her sparkling green eyes caught the sight of something quite particular... a dazzling array of color in the distance, dancing with the reflection of the hot sun. She had heard others talk about mirages; images that were created by heat and sunlight... she hoped that this wasn't one of them.
"It's a pool of water," she remarked calmly, not the slightest bit of emotion escaping her chest. Her mouth suddenly felt dry and warm, almost dizzy. She stood on all fours, coursing slowly back toward the shimmering waters, praying to her god that it was not just an illusion, but reality.

Odyss walked after her as she started towards it. If he was right, he believed those where plants, trees perhaps, and that would most certainly mean water. But it could also mean predators, Odyss wanted to be careful about this, he could surely get away with his speed, but he was not certain how fast Bianca was. He trotted forward catching up next to Bianca and walking with her. Their goal was farther away then he had expected, but it was a relief to at least know it was getting closer.
After rising up one last dune, he paused at the top, panting slightly, but he was now staring at a good sized Oasis. Much like the one at the temple, though much smaller. It had a very healthy cluster of palm trees, grass, and glittering clear water. Odyss smiled “The god of Journey had rewarded us today Bianca” he said waiting to her to join him

Bianca nodded slightly, agreeing with Odyss' statement. Lately she felt like the God of Shadows Cast by Stones was not favoring her; perhaps for her lack of worship. Nevertheless, with a slight sigh, she padded forward, her limbs aching from the heavy amount of walking the two had endured.
Her paws and hooves welcomed the soft texture of cool grass and instantly she felt like she was back at home by the temple. She closed her eyes, dazed by the sensation of safety. A soft smile illuminated her face, softening her usually emotionless features.
The white female blinked several times, clearing her sight. "Water?" she asked drowsily, hoping even for the slightest drop of moisture. The dry desert air was starting to scratch at her throat, causing her to feel uneasy. She hated the feeling of discomfort; it was one thing she absolutely could not tolerate.

Odyss padded after her, letting her feel the grass first. While keeping and eye out for anything dangerous. Not seeing anything, he determined it was safe. At the mention of the water he turned his gaze on it. Looking over at her and grinning slightly he ran forward, kicking off at the edge of the water and splashing in. It self so good, immediately cooling his body. Resurfacing he shook the water from his head and took a drink “its good” he told Bianca nodding his head to invite her in. He dropped back under the water. Closing his eyes and just sitting there for a moment.

A deep, shuddering chill ran through Bianca's body as Odyss' form disappeared beneath the water and another one emerged. Her stomach sank and she instantly felt the presence of evil. Her heart pounded as the water creature held its gaze upon the spot where Odyss had decided to submerge himself. With a gasp, she ran forward and dove into the water. Her small teeth sunk into the nape of Odyss' neck as she gripped some extra skin. She tugged hard, her eyes closed, blinded by the stinging feel of ice-cold water. He limbs flailed wildly beneath the water since she had not the first clue of how to swim.
The marine creature crept forward, half exposed above the icy liquid. Its teeth shone as the sunlight reflected off the water. The site of ripples and bubbles made his stomach growl furiously. Long trails of drool seeped from his mouth, falling delicating into the water as he increasingly gained speed.

Surprised to feel Malu teeth on the skin on his neck, tugging at him. It didn’t take him long to realize that it was Bianca that had a hold of him, and that she was having trouble staying above water. Legging her clings to him he returned to her surface, using his paws and Chest to push her up as well. Once at top he became aware of something… not right. Bianca’s sudden reaction had tipped him off first. But he didn’t have time to wonder why when he was something approaching them, something that would easily fit the description “disturbing” Eyes widening slightly, only one thing ran though his mind as he willed himself to react before they got eaten. ‘Get out of the water!’ “Bianca, kick your legs!” he told her, staring to push her towards the shore as quickly as he could.

Bianca's legs flailed about in an awkward fashion, frantic whines escaping her throat. "Ody—" she yelled, before becoming completely submerged beneath the water. Bubbles reached the service of the water, ripples and waves undulating where her body began sinking. She looked up at the water above her, thinking that the world seemed so much more calm beneath its languid service.
Oddly enough, she felt no more fear. Her lungs were full of oxygen and the panic had dispersed from her mind. Odyss was safe; the liquid-like creature that had surfaced seemed to only be able to sustain itself when in the water; he was okay. With that one consoling thought, she grew calm. It was strange to her... to know that her life meant almost nothing to her. With that, she ceased her motions.
Simultaneously, the creature continued to move forward, its speed not increasing. It could recognize the sight of a drowned animal; and Bianca was definitely in his grasp. The one on land was of no interest to him anymore; just the white female that slowly sank beneath the water.

Baring his teeth as he saw her sinking beneath the water, he then moved his attention on the creature that now seemed highly interested in Bianca. A swoop of panic cause his chest to hurt, something he didn’t experience often, and did NOT enjoy. but he knew he had to help Bianca.
Dashing back along the sand, he turned setting his face determinedly at the creature, and shot off, as fast as he could. Leaping high as he just barely hit the water, and drove his hooves down on the top of the beast’s head. Though to his surprise, Odyss just slipped though the creatures body. Hooves slipping on the creature brain, which was solid enough, he extended his claws, sinking them into the brain and clinging to it to keep himself from falling.

The monster reared its long neck, producing an almost silent, but painful screech from its widened jaw. He bared large fangs that were definitely not liquid, but somehow able to stick to his fluid body. Its brain leaked a pinkish substance and the veins inside its body became less transparent than they had been. The creature sunk into the water, Odyss still attached to his brain.
Bianca's feet reached the bottom of the lake. She suddenly felt light-headed and almost whispy. She could tell that the lack of oxygen was getting to her. Suddenly, an under-surface wave surged under her, glancing back, the pool of water became a hurricane of rapids. The white girl was lifted off her paws and hooves and dragged onto the shore. She blinked several times before regaining her sight.
To her horror, both Odyss and the creature had disappeared. A deep, instant pain grasped her chest and the female gasped for air. Panic arose in her and her body shook in distress. "Odyss...?" she whispered, her voice failing her. The poor girl collapsed in a pile of fur, feathers, and limbs, the life almost immediately sucked out of her. "Odyss...?" she whispered again, tears welling in her grief-stricken eyes.
"ODYSS!" she screamed suddenly, rushing forward with a surge of adrenaline. Her wings opened and she lifted herself above the water, coming down in a graceful dive. She slowed as the water ran over her coat and through her feathered wings.

Odyss struggled to stay on, feeling the pink fluid oozing down him arm, though he paid no mind. It was not until the creature was sinking that he lost his grip on its master organ, feeling a stabbing pain in his side he yelped out, getting his mouth full of water and the monsters blood, choking he struggled to get control in the raging water. Though when everything stopped he found himself at the bottom, nestled in a pile of throbbing organs. Resembling Bianca still in the water, he tried to move himself towards the surface for one air. But found that his body was being weighed down, tangled in some of the organs. He let out the last gasp of bubbles he had, gagging and struggling for the surface. Just above him, he thought he could make out something pure white, with black specks break the surface of the water. Bianca!

Bianca's feathered wings struggled beneath the harsh water, her limbs failing every which way in order for her to gain speed. Her stomach wretched itself when she caught sight of Odyss amidst a pile of organs, greenblue piles of solid-like liquid surrounding them.
"Ody—ss!" she tried to yell out, her voice stunted by the water around her. She struggled forward, coming to rest her paws and hooves on the sand. She dug her back hooves into the ground floor in order to press herself forward. Baby teeth sunk into the throbbing mass, allowing her to make her way through the squishy substance to free her friend.

He felt the weight slowly being pulled from him, and though he was dieing for breath, and every movement cause his mind and lungs to scream in agony, he struggled against the binds. And with Bianca’s help, he was able to free himself. Not waiting another second Odyss reached his paws out, catching Binca under her legs he started to kick his way to the surface, clinging Bianca close to him as he brought her up with him.
It was almost painful to take in a breath of air as he broke though the water gasping deeply, pulling Binaca up so she could get some air as well. He kicked to keep them both afloat. Not saying anything a he took gasp after gasp

Bianca's weak body shook as she coughed up water that had seeped into her lungs. She tried her best to breathe and take in as much oxygen as possible without promoting the pain that engulfed her chest. She whined in disapproval, then continued to help Odyss push them both to shore.
Once her paws reached the sand, the white female collapsed without a word... too exhuasted to create anymore motion. Her body rose and fell with each intake of air, shivering against the cool wind that made its way through the oasis. Never had she imagined such a creature... and never again would she contemplate the idea of safety in an oasis. The world was a cruel and disturbed place, she had come to realize... and it had almost cost she and Odyss their lives.
Bright green eyes found their way to the brown Malu beside her. A look of concern crossed over her face before returning to its natural apathy. Odyss worshipped the god of journeys...
She moaned and curled her body into a tighter ball, fighting against the ache that rose in her stomach. He was too young to leave the temple alone... that much she knew and that much she could worry about... for now.
