There is so much debate and discussion on who loves who in FFVII. So many threads on individual pairings. Alas though... they are all romantic? Which leaves people like me whom wish to talk of the deep sibling-like bond some of us may find in Cloud and Tifa, the motherly influence Aeris may have had over Avalanche, how Barret was a father figure to Tifa, or how Sephiroth may have been inspiring to Zack.
So here is where I think we can give our opinion and reasonings thus for on such opinion. Mother/father figures, sibling closeness, idols.... whatever pairing you like as long as the romantic stuff stays out.
Oh, and none of this... I think Aeris/Tifa is a mother/sibling relationship because Cloud loves such-in-such etc... If I see that I will point and laugh at you. Give real reasons please.
So what is your favorite none-romantic pairing?

non romantic? Hmmmmmm...I have to think about that. Maybe cloud and zack. I think that their freindship was sweet, and I don't think of them as being "together" just really good friends, which is something everyone needs. I think that there is lve there but as we all love our friends/family, not as in romantic interest love.

Hm...
Yuffie, Tifa and Aerith. I mean, she didn't really have a mother in the game, right? Then Aerith comes along with Tifa and then BAM. These two women teaching her how to be a woman and how to live life properly and things mothers would teach. I personally thought that Yuffie died a bit inside when Aerith died. Like maybe if her mother had died (again?). Tifa is still there and the love for Aerith and her is probably still there. Tifa as her third mother and Aerith as her second and dead mother. Aerith watching out for her in the life stream and Tifa watching out for her in the alive world. Yuffie is the little child that needs to be mothered and she has two wonderful mothers she might love very much.
At least that's my view on it.
Also... Hm... -ponders-
Cloud and Tifa... I can totally imagine them not becoming lovers and living a life together as if they were siblings! I read a fanfiction like that once. It rocked hard. Tifa complaining about Cloud's hair getting stuck in the shower drain and so on...

Zack and Sephiroth's relationship on Cloud as maybe brother's he never had (and maybe never wanted? XD ). They made him have someone to look up to AND to help him when his days were low.
There are more I have but I can't remember. D:
The silver haired trio and Aerith and Zack too! Aerith as the mother and Zack as the father for the three in the lifestream, maybe? (I read a good fanfiction on this too! XD )

Yeah the ZackxCloud pairing is a great one. I personally think Cloud looked to Zack like he would to a idolized big brother. Which is why when Zack died he assemulated the things he idolized about him into his life.
Aeris and Tifa as mother figures to Yuffie huh? Interesting concept... I'd like to know what point you have that lead to this conclusion. I've never really thought about it so I'd like to know where you see this relationship.
The silver AC trio as the adopted children of Aeris and Zack. I can see this... I honestly think the concept of Aeris being called mother in AC by Kadaj came from the trios obsession to please JENOVA. Since they communicated through JENOVA's cell and don't think they ever associated a voice with JENOVA... so when Kadaj heard Aeris' gentle voice he associated it with mother for his wish to please and be accepted by thus. 4laugh However, I can definately see the three following Aeris around calling her mommy JENOVA and Aeris flipping out on them. rofl Really cute.

I think Aeris and Nanaki because at some point he says that she used to pat him on the head but he didn't like it. But when she dies he starts missing that little pat.

A pairing I can see as romantic, but mostly non-romantic would be Cloud and Sephiroth... before Sephiroth became de-ranged and such. I thought he and Cloud had such a sweet kind of "I've got your back" or "buddy-buddy" relationship before shi-ot started to happen. Also, I agree with the Aeris/Nanaki one. That's a sweet non-romantic pair also <3

I got three words for you! Tifa/Yuffie!
I don't know, I like it in both romantic and non-romantic. The two girls have been through a lot together, worked in Avalanche together and all. Seeing as Tifa is the eldest woman in the game at the moment, Yuffie could learn a thing or two about being more womanly from her.
It's kind of cute to think of, at least for me. Tifa teaching Yuffie how to act more lady-like, Yuffie teaching Tifa how to be more assertive, and the two gossiping about whomever and whatever they wish about. Sorta like really close friends or even sisters. Just brings a smile to my face.
I also like Tifa/Aeris as a sister/sister or daughter/mother type of thing. In either scenerio, both have gotten to know each other a lot, and both of them could talk to each other about anything. As strong as Tifa is, she could find comfort with Aeris, and Aeris can gain strength from Tifa.
I also like the above in a romantic scence, but non-romantically as just friends, still cute to me.

Only his crazy psychotic mother (source from a fanfiction I read that makes his mother out to be very VERY bi-polar. It's hilarious! Her name is also 'Lily' and it's grown on me XD)!

I like the Cloud and Zack brotherly love thing although they could have been a gay couple as well since they don't really go in depth about their years together. I also like the Vincent and Red 13 relationship. I think they would have had very intelligent conversations about life.

One couple I forgot, and will NEVER support romantically, is Nanaki and Yuffie. They would have an older brother/younger sister kind of relationship, with Red telling her not to do as many crazy things, and Yuffie trying to get him to be more fun loving, you know?
It's really fun to think of them as brother and sister, just kinda sick to think of them as lovers in my vew. That's just my call

It's so sad... For the two of them to be standing on a cliff remeniscing about the old times about 100 years or so earlier (or was it 1000... ). Vincent decides it's time for him to let go of life and move on to the lifestream and Nanaki howls for him in the wind after seeing a man dying inside walk off to most likely kill himself. A man he respected and secretly looked up upon....

character bonds, family-wise, I'd say...
Sephiroth and Cloud. Even though they were enemies, they still had a brotherly bond.
Tseng and Aeris. Not a couple! They're brother and sister!
Yuffie and Cid and Yuffie and Barret. Sorta like father figures to her, except with a little more swearing!
Aeris and Cait Sith. She was very maternal to him in the game
