The Christian school I'm going to right now sent all of it's first year students down to one of the Homeless shelters for four days this week with the intention to help us beter understand the problems they face. I learned a few things, one, the people on the streets are mostly the ones that got abused, god shoved to the side and didn't get help to deal with it, can't live with themselves and so got addicted to drugs, lost evrything, are angry and bitter and lost inside. Or they're mentally ill, or have severe seizures and can't work. No one wants to see them because no one wants to admit to themselves that things like that happen, so they're still shoved to the side. I've also learned why God lives the poor, the orphans, and the widows, because they are so far downtrodden that all they can do is hold on to him, yes they're addicted, but most of them are beter christians then anyone else I've met, what are we doing sending people in churches on mission trips? These guys would do better jobs I think. Still, they sent us out looking like homeless people, and no one looked at me, they looked through me, some ran from me, some gave me money cause they felt guilty, some told me to get a job. Most of the people I talked to had jobs, they just couldn't keep them cause they were so depressed or they have mental problems.
